  1. I bought a cartridge on ebay called "Music Composer" for the Atari 400/800. Inside are two 24 pin chips. The markings on the chip itself are: CN42509N and CN42508N And below each chip, on the circuit board markings are: A601 & A602. Anyone know what the modern equivalent of these chips are (for direct replacement)? I was hoping I could read the code on these chips. Thanks for any advice. Tony
  2. Hi, I was wondering if it might be possible to see an actual piece assembly language code using the above example? Would like too see how it actually looks in a real piece of code. (I'm a beginner, the above example is confusing). If I see what it really looks like in a simple piece of asm code, I can work backwards and study it. Thanks for any help. T
  3. Thank you. I'm looking for the easiest code example of how to get a homebrew cart to run on the 800xl. Will check out the thread you mentioned. Thanks again, T
  4. I'm trying to find an example of how to program the header and the boot code for an 800XL cart, want to burn my own rom/make a cart. If anyone can refer me to an example (i.e. a disassembled cart rom) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. T
  5. From what I understand I can't just burn my eprom with the unedited binary ROM image if I want to make a cartridge that plays on a real 800xl. Does the hex code of that ROM image need to be edited before burning my eprom for playing on a real 800XL? IF so can someone describe to me how to go about editing the hex code before burning to an eprom? Any info/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  6. Yes, I should have thought of printing it if I wanted a hard copy. Thanks for letting me know that. Yeah, because the paper that comes out of my printer can be like my own hard copy... I didn't think of that. This is all making sense now. Thank you. That is the whole point of www.atariarchives.org. A lot of these books are getting hard to find so now you can just read it online or print it out. Allan Thanks for helping me understand that whole concept. I think I understand now. (I apologize fro the sarcasm, but are you guys for real?) Anyway, you can find some of the old books floating around sometimes for cheap. It's better to re-use something old then use a whole stack of paper printing the whole book out. That's a load of paper and ink! It's also nice to get away from the PC, hold a book in you hands and read. It's better for your eyes too.
  7. Hi Gary, thanks. Well I've been experimenting a little with producing sound with the joystick. I did't use drawscreen at all and the compiled bin works fine. I'm probably missing something in your explanation. I'm not using any video right now, just messing around with simple sounds and the joystick. Thanks for the link and help. TOny
  8. I'm using batari and was wondering how you can test joy1 using stella. I know joy0 is automatically the arrow keys on your pc, but what about joy1? Thanks, T
  9. Thanks. Besides concatenating, is there anything else you have to do to that file before burning it into the eeprom? (Like any other editing?) Thanks. T

  11. Thank you. It will be helpful. T I'm working on a new version of Tone Toy which I hope will have more options. I'm still trying to figure out the bast way to go about it, but I hope to have a rough version done before April of 2008. Thanks. Looking forward to seeing it. Good luck. Tony
  12. Did you try jammaboards? I didn't see 24 pin connectors, but here it is: http://www.jammaboards.com/store/connector...tors/cat_5.html Tony
