  1. @JamesWDyou can activate subtitles with english translation, which mostly are quite suitable. 😉 @Atari74usersums it up very good! The major difference of course is the input level. No need for using resistor circuitry anymore, to connect line level devices like CD-players etc. Concerning the output I must admit that I'm a little bit disappointed with the result of the mod. But I only did a before/after test with one specific ACE-Tracker music. With this I think the pure headphone output with Bass-Boost has slightly more "punch" (veeery little!) in bass, resulting in a overall better sound than with the mod. But it's barely recognizable and there might be other music where the mod may sound better! 🤔 But judge for yourselves... Pure Headphone output, sound CPX module set to 15 (vertical volume) and 0 (horizontal input? "whatever" volume): With modified line-level output, no Bass-Boost, same CPX settings, roughly same volume level in OBS-Studio on PC (did some Falcon captures between these two videos, so it's not exactly the same):
  2. Planned for a long time and finally I did it: The Audio modifications C-Lab did on their Falcons to get line-level in/output and remove Bassboost! Some SMD soldering skills with small components (resistors and caps) are needed. But as I already did a LED mod for my Amiga 1200 and got some better equipment since then, I was quite confident I could make the necessary SMD mods on the Falcon. 😉 The modification is based on this article, which is basically the same as described in the Cubase Audio manual. Problem with both sources: They are not complete! At least the changed capacitors C26 and C79 are not mentioned there, not even in the latest Rev. L shematics from Atari (which contains, apart from this, all changes for this mod!) You can only see the changes on these two caps on photos of C-Lab Falcons. Changes to R124 and R131 were also not mentioned in the article (or Cubase Audio manual) but can be found in the Rev. L shematics. There are eleven additional ceramic caps, which somehow deal with noise filtering. The exact positioning of them, a complete PDF of the SMD changes and some photos of the mod can be found in the attached zip! What I did not do is changing the old filter components to some ferrite type coils seen in most C-Lab Falcons (the green and red wires near the audio connectors) like here: Although these ferrites are in the schematics, I couldn't find any detailed information on these, so I left this part untouched. This modification seems not to be really neccessary as you can see in this photo of a C-Lab MK1 Falcon. Here's the backside of my modified Falcon: And the front with more filter ceramics: Here a video of the modification (german!): And finally a sample test video with the new Line-In: Falcon Audio-Mod.zip
  3. Just curious: How do you put in the Gotek in your 1040? As it's not possible with the original Gotek case without major modifications on the Atari case! If you've used a specific 3D-printed STF frame (ebay, thingiverse), there's no need for twisting the ribbon cable, as the Gotek PCB is placed upside down.
  4. Ah, I see. So something like NetUSBee for Atari ST. So that is meant by "mousewheel support" of OS 3.2. I will try FreeWheel with my USB/DB9 adapter. Seems to be a good compromise solution. Thanks! ?
  5. I just did a fresh install of OS 3.2.1 on SD card for my new A1200, using WinUAE. See this video (german). In WinUAE mousewheel works fine, even if "Scroll Wheel Enabled" in IControl isn't checked. But on my Amiga 1200 I couldn't get the wheel to work, using a mouSTer adapter. Tried several mice, like Logitech M500, MX518 or MS Intellimouse Optical. Does somebody know which USB/DB9 adapter has wheel support? Or is there a hidden option in OS 3.2.1, which I hadn't found so far? ?
  6. OT: Talking about Skylar... found this in level 7.1 of the Dreamcast game "Sturmwind": ? Yes, it is Skylar, as the programmers Duranik have their origins on the Atari Falcon and Jaguar (Native gamedemo). ? Full video here:
  7. Yep, it's quite versatile as it also has (apart from HDMI) DVI, VGA via DVI adapter and S-Video/Composite/Stereo adapter. For sound I usually use the Stereo line-in instead of HDMI, as it sometimes gives better results, e.g. Falcon and STE with their direct line out connectors.
  8. New version works on my US NTSC Jaguar as well now, all three files! Did a (full scrolltext) video of this: https://youtu.be/RL062TH8bF4 Btw. the first time here that the YT-video looks better than the source video I used for uploading! That has the usual "not quite in sync" stuttering, which were much better if not almost gone on YT! ?
  9. Do you also have the exxos clockpatch installed? Or is that what you mean with "clock chip"? I mean the thing with the wires in this picture: https://flic.kr/p/2geyBpY There might be a chance that you still have problems with the DSP, not receiving correct data from the "system". You may hear sound crackles in ACE Tracker 2 after a while or so. I attached a zip which includes DMA2DSP.PRG, which tests data transfer to the DSP and verifies it. Normally it should display a green bar moving from left to right, leaving the lower part of the screen white. If there's anything wrong with data, red spikes will appear and the lower part turns and remains red. Run the program for an hour or two at least to be sure everything is ok. Exxos describes this problem on his "The LaST Upgrade" section and the forum. Adding the mentioned 100K resistor helped here (and for another guy) to get rid of this problem. https://flic.kr/p/2mXmxPL But maybe everything is ok with your Falcon. ? f030test.zip
  10. Cool stuff! Nice to still see development of such useful tools for the ST/STE! ? Btw. the original CAR_RACE.AVI works with VLC here (Win 10 PC), no problems!
  11. Although very unlikely in your case, but a white screen with no reaction from any drives can be caused by a missing jumper on the expansion slot J20! Maybe during your soldering sessions it "fell off", or you did have some card on the expansion ports and did not put back that jumper afterwards (like it was in my case once ^^)? I mean the jumper shown here:
  12. (the bold part) So how and where did you get the firmware update from if not from the QR code or the link underneath? I updated my FW from 1.10 (initial CD support) to 1.11 a few days ago. The first try was just the other way round then your result. Stub and Menu were updated, FW and ASIC not! But with that first try I used the link (saved as a bookmark in my browser) from the previous update (to V1.10). After that non/half successful update I pressed Option again while booting... just to find a different QR code and link! With that file the update process went flawlessly! Might be a coincidence, as there was a half successful update with the first link... not sure. ? So if you have an "old" bookmark for the firmware file, check the QR code (link) again, it might have changed!
  13. @ls650 you downloaded the upd-file from the QR-code source (or the provided link underneath)? The actual version numbers of firmware, ASIC, menu and stub are mentioned there. FW 1.11, ASIC 1.08, Menu 1.08, Stub 1.04
  14. Hmm, where (and when) did you find that? But ok, that explains it all. ? edit: found it at "Hard disk adapted games", ups. ? I've visited your main page yesterday to find some evidence or news about this, but as you said, latest news is some months old. No offence though! ?
  15. @ParanoidLittleMan any news about your server problems I asked here? Most of the HD adapted games (tried about 20, 19 give a "404") download links don't work. E.g. this: http://atari.8bitchip.info/ASTGA/A/awesome.php Floppy image DL works, HD not. Forum doesn't work either. ?
