Oh man, I envy you... I still remember the Christmas when I got AvP when I was younger. Awesome to be playing this game for the first time 👌

Can you post some pics of the problem? Depending on the traces, it might be a simple repair if you are decent at driving a soldering iron.

See edit above before you self immolate even more while trying to defend the indefensible.

If you were actually a long time lurker it would be patently obvious why some deserve and even invite the ire of the community at large. Edit: If you are honestly ignorant as to why some select few people get shit, it's invariably brought upon themselves. Contribution to this community is far from mandatory. Most people here are consumers, myself included. It's been years since I contributed anything of substance. That's just fine and dandy. What irks people is when mud gets slung at those that DO put their time and effort into producing works for the Jag by people who do nothing but chat shit and constantly act as though they have more knowledge or ability than the people with actual, practical experience.

This guy's threads are always the same. Rather than just post a picture that he made and say "I made this. What do you think?" he feins interest in a game and accompanies it with a title and story of questionable veracity. Once he gets pulled up, level 99 sarcasm and passive aggressive clashes with well established members ensue! Get your popcorn ready!

Yeah that was probably quicker than writing all that spiel. Lol I used to have a big sit-down arcade cabinet about 15 years ago. It had a whopping big 36 inch Hantarex Polo II monitor. Very big, very cool, but very flaky. I had to pull out the monitor chassis on several occasions and became a dab hand at it.

Yes indeed. The average CRT can hold a charge in the tens of thousands of volts for weeks after the machine has been switched off. You can discharge it through the flyback with a flat blade screwdriver and some wire. Get some wire, at least AWG16, and strip a good 3 inches or so from one end. Wrap that end around the metal of a long, flat bladed screwdriver. You can tape it as well if you feel the need. Strip the other end and attach it to the metal frame of the CRT. Use an existing screw point. Put your off hand in your pocket. Hold the screwdriver at arm's length, making sure you only touch the handle, and gently move the blade up under the rubber cup that is connected to the tube. Be careful not to scratch the coating on the tube. When you hit the electrode, you should hear a loud 'twang!' as it dumps its charge into the frame. If you don't hear anything and you know for a fact that your blade is touching the metal contact under the cup, is safe to assume that your CRT is one of the rare, self discharging types that appeared later.

Is Skyhammer the most ambitious Jaguar game?
Gummy Bear replied to Cobra Kai's topic in Atari Jaguar
Aha! But you forget that when you octobuffer the reticulated splines of the transtator array, you can also octuple the quantum throughput of the phased wobble inducer. You silly sausage! -
Jumping At Shadows - WIP Platform Game from Reboot-Games
Gummy Bear replied to CyranoJ's topic in Atari Jaguar
This is looking awesome! I love the touch of having the little glow effect around the main character, to keep him visible without having to make him brighter and spoil his aesthetic. -
Stormbringer - coming soon to the Atari Jaguar!
Gummy Bear replied to CyranoJ's topic in Atari Jaguar
It seems like this release was a long time coming. I just found footage of this game, on the Jag, from reboot, but the video was 5 years ago! If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. -

Gummy Bear replied to Cobra Kai's topic in Atari Jaguar
That's known as a "shlongplay" I do agree that Skyhammer is a pretty good representation of what the Jag can do 3Dwise. Definitely sub-PS1, but not by an awful amount if used correctly. -

Just got a Jaguar in 2022 - New to this community
Gummy Bear replied to DreamcastUK's topic in Atari Jaguar
The key difference in this case being that Hard Drivin' and Virtua Racing are good games that offer the player some semblance of control. Welcome BTW! ?- 60 replies
