  1. I was in a discussion some 1-2 years ago with some moderators and they mentioned something about the possibility of digital versions of all the homebrew games being offered at some point. Has there been any news or updates regarding this? While I do have original hardware to play these games on, I wish I had the flexibility to play these on an emulation device as well -- and I know many others, especially those who don't own original hardware, would appreciate this as well.
  2. Thanks guys, I suspected as much. I would like to have the digital ROMs for these games. Is there anyway I could have the AtariAge staff verify my orders and send me the digital ROMs of said games, or do they not allow such a thing?
  3. I just ordered a Maxflash USB programmer with 2600 dumper to dump my collection, and I was wondering they supported the special Melody-based homebrew games like Deepstone Catacomb? I guess another way of wording my question would be, is there any type of cartridge that they DON'T support?
  4. As mentioned in my original post, I do already have two copies of the game and both exhibit the same problem on my system, but work fine on another system. So I'm pretty sure the issue is with my system. I do have another Atari system coming in the mail this week (a 4-switch) that I plan on doing some modding on. I will let you guys know how the games perform on that system.
  5. @Albert Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I thought about opening the cartridge and testing just the board, but I really don't wanna ruin the labels. Is there a good way to safely remove the labels? I've heard about using hair dryers, but I'm not sure if that'd work on these newer type labels. In any case, I have some reason to believe that the cartridge board IS making proper contact with the system. I did some light testing last night and this morning; I noticed that if I play another game first for a few minutes, and then try Deepstone Catacomb, the game will fire up no problem. Almost like the system has to "warm up" first before it can successfully read the game. If the system has been sitting and is cold, I can power cycle it a few times without removing Deepstone Catacomb and it can read it too, although this is far less consistent than letting the system "warm up" first. Any thoughts about this?
  6. Hi everyone. I'm pretty new to the world of 2600 gaming. I picked up an Atari 2600 last year and have been slowly amassing a small collection. I've even picked up a few of the homebrew cartridges here on AtariAge. Which leads me to the problem I am having. My Atari 2600 (a light sixer) has trouble reading the homebrew cart Deepstone Catacomb. On average, I'd say it fires up about 1 in every 10 tries or so. Every other game I have, even other homebrew cartridges, fire up no problem. I do have access to another 2600 that's not mine, and the game runs fine on that system. So is the problem the cartridge or my system? Well I decided to buy another copy of Deepstone Catacomb to test, and the same thing happens: it won't read 9 out of every 10 times or so. If the problem is my system, then why is it only this one game that has trouble reading? The weird thing is, when I first got the game, I remember it running fine initially. But about a week or so after I got it, I stuck it in the slot and there was a slight *pop* like something came loose. That's when it started having trouble reading. I opened up my console to investigate around the cartridge slot, and to my eyes everything looked fine, but then again I am no electronics engineer. When I put everything back together, I accidentally screwed some of the screws in the metal shield around the main PCB a bit too tight and I noticed that it shifted the positioning of the cartridge slot in the metal housing, making the cartridges fit in a little bit tighter than normal. Incidentally, this seemed to temporarily fix my issue with Deepstone Catacomb, but after a few times, it *popped* again and the game quit reading reliably. I've tried disassembling and reassembling the console a few times since then, thinking it might be the way the cartridge slot is positioned and that I can somehow fix it, but I've had no luck. I'm at my wit's end. Why is it only this one game (multiple copies of it too) that has this problem? Any ideas/help?
