  1. So glad you are sticking with it! Your progress is very impressive!
  2. You've made huge progress! I bet you can do it without phasing, though!
  3. Solaris is definitely more fun when you map it yourself! I haven't beat it for a while, but I remember that it mostly took patience and thoughtful mapping.
  4. Getting close to that 2500! Solar Storm is no walk in the park! In the old days, to get the t-shirt -- you needed 5000! Fortunately, AtariQuest only asks for half of that...
  5. @TAoVG I watched your playthrough! That was super fun -- I loved your radio filter! For folks who missed it, the stream is here: @PengPeng0118 just unlocked Chapter 40, so things are clicking along nicely!
  6. That's really helpful! I hope someone posts a video of actually doing it! The story's at a pretty cool part right now.
  7. Melvin Missile here! AtariQuest is now on Chapter 31, thanks to the diligent efforts of Peng Peng, who has been unlocking chapters left and right! However, to beat that chapter, you have to earn the Shuttle Commander Space Shuttle patch... no mean feat! Has anyone on here ever done it? If you upload a video of you achieving it, you'll do the AtariQuest community a great favor... I have the feeling we may be on Chapter 31 for a while! If you are thinking about jumping in to get on the AtariQuest leaderboard, go for it! You can do the chapters in any order... just post a video of yourself beating a chapter, and you're on the board! Here's a cool story about AtariQuest that was in Venturebeat, btw...
  8. Followup: Interestingly (?) setting the switch to "a" only works if you pick "1st up" and not "2nd up" ... maybe this is why they never put it in the manual. Thanks to Peng for figuring this out!
  9. Whoops... I was wrong about this. As usual, the Atari Compendium has the answer! It turns out that, UNMENTIONED IN THE MANUAL, setting the left difficulty switch to "a" makes the computer players move just a little more slowly, and as a result, home runs are possible if you pull down and to the right, and hit the ball at just the right time. So... flipping the difficulty switch is the key... NOT the COLOR/B+W switch.
  10. Oh, good lord, I figured it out. I think I just discovered an Atari secret that no one knows! Ozzie Smith says he flips over Atari baseball, but there's something he doesn't tell you to flip! If you flip the Color/B+W switch to B+W, it seems to put the game into a secret "easy mode" in which home runs are actually possible! I don't know if I'd call that an easter egg, but it's certainly hidden -- not in the manual at all! Is anyone savvy enough to dig through the Super Baseball ROM to see what the COLOR/B+W switch is actually doing in there?
  11. Hey, Melvin Missile here, asking for a friend... has anyone ever been able to win a game of Super Baseball against the computer? I've played dozens of innings, and... I can never, ever, score a run. And it seems like none of the AtariQuest players can score a run either! It appears to be totally blocking AtariQuest, which is stuck at Chapter 24 because no one can beat this game. If you can beat it, and post a video of yourself doing it, you will be an AtariQuest hero! Or maybe winning is just impossible...
  12. PengPeng0118 just climbed to #4 on the leaderboard with a decisive ice hockey win, and his first Activision Patch! AtariQuest is here: https://atariquest.blogspot.com/ All are welcome! How long will it take to unlock all 444 chapters?
  13. AtariQuest update... there was a pretty cool story about AtariQuest on Venturebeat: https://venturebeat.com/2021/12/23/atariquest-is-an-interactive-novel-based-on-400-plus-atari-2600-games/ And a bunch of people have been playing! There are nine people on the leaderboard, and so far chapters 1-24 (out of 444) have been unlocked! A few people have been playing in order, but you can complete the challenges in any order you like! So far, the 24 games that are part of the challenge are: Fishing Derby, Breakout, 3D Tic-Tac-Toe, Bump 'n' Jump, Flag Capture, Spike's Peak, Mogul Maniac, Ice Hockey, Frostbite, Pengo, Mountain King, Glacier Patrol, Skiing, Brain Games, Bumper Bash, Trick Shot, Slot Machine, Home Run, Blackjack, RealSports Baseball, Casino, Super Challenge Baseball, and Super Baseball. If you like playing any of those, come on by, and post a score! And if you can win at Super Baseball, you'll unlock Chapter 25! AtariQuest is here: https://atariquest.blogspot.com/ All are welcome! How long will it take to unlock all 444 chapters?
  14. A new challenger approaches! Mike T has completed the Fishing Derby challenge in chapter 1, and is now on the leaderboard! Check out his video: The first three players who complete a challenge get bonus points -- so there is still room for one more on Chapter 1! And of course, Chapter 2 (breakout) is wide open... If you are new to AtariQuest, you can get started here! There are 444 chapters of challenge waiting to be unlocked... Who will be the champion that can conquer them all?
  15. I had no idea there were two kinds of Beamrider patch! Now I'm on the lookout for that one AND the HERO patch!
