  1. I'm in the same boat missing the classic controller support. I agree that it's probably the limited number of buttons, but it's still a little disappointing because the gameplay seems perfectly suited for the classic controller. That said, I had a good first impression of the game. So far, I've only played for a little bit (damn life getting in the way of more Atari time), but I like the graphics and I'm a fan of the general aesthetics (it's got a cool look to it). It also looks like their's a bit of depth to the game, and I see myself playing a lot of this in the future. Taking the good with the bad, I'm really glad Atari came through and ported this to the VCS.
  2. I strongly agree with this. Thanks a lot @SainT. We appreciate your efforts at improving the CD experience.

    Yars Rising

I have to say, with all the IPs that have been getting the "reimagined" treatment, I did not see this one coming. I'll be very interested to see actual gameplay footage.
  4. I definitely agree with the classic controller support. I'm instantly more interested when a game comes out with good spinner controls. This looks like a lot of fun.
  5. Turns out it was a stupid question. Thanks for the info.
  6. That's awesome @swlovinist. Always looking for a fun puzzle title. This might be a dumb question, but is the VCS release going to work with the Jaguar emulator, or is it a different version of the game?
  7. Awesome news. This is the same developer as Sigi and Sir Lovealot, right? Both of those were really fun, so I'll definitely pick up this one. It looks intense.
  8. I might be repeating myself here, but I'm very excited that Atari has recognized the potential for the VCS to be an "official" platform for the fantastic homebrew community that developed for their legacy systems. I don't own a 7800, but I have bought all the 7800 titles that were ported to the VCS. I'm excited to grab the two that were released today once I get home.
  9. Paperboy, Crazy Taxi, even the VCS' own Doodle Taxi. I guess I just like games where I make deliveries. This sounds right up my alley.
  10. True. I'm glad we found some common ground.
  11. Hahaha. With time, all things are possible. Seriously though, this is great news. If they get classic controller support done right, the VCS could be the definitive way to play this game. Kudos again Atari.
  12. I'm in the same boat. I bought qomp 2 earlier last week, but it looks like it went down shortly after that.
  13. 4-player party game? You just made my day. I love local multiplayer on the VCS, and this looks right up my alley
  14. Hahaha, I'm with you @Atari_JaguarVCS. I'm like two or three games away from complete (minus 4th and inches and Crystal Quest, both got pulled before I could get them). I might use this for Boulder Dash because I was holding out on that one for a while.

    VCS in 2024

Spirit of the Samurai has been high on my "must play" list for the VCS since I first saw the trailer. It seems like a very beautiful, creepy, and all round atmospheric game. I also agree with @Atari_JaguarVCS that the VCS should continue being supported for a while. The VCS has grown into a great platform for smaller indie and Atari homebrew developers to release their games in an accessible (and officially Atari sanctioned) format where they can still get noticed. Every week it seems like more small developers are jumping on board and releasing new titles. So long as the VCS is still a developer friendly platform, I think Atari will keep it chugging along. As a fan of the system, that works great for me.
