  1. Does anyone know how to fix the haloing/double imaging on 7800 games. It looks horrible on my LG CX even compared to Antstream's version. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. I know they release a ton of retro revamped games on Switch but I wish they would offer them on VCS as well. Any chance of that, anyone else care? http://www.hamster.co.jp/american_hamster/arcadearchives/
  3. Five. If we get two hands and both feet that should be enough, right?
  4. That really sucks. I was really looking forward to this game. With so few games out on the VCS this would have been a welcome addition. Atari, figure this out! Hate to say it but you need to create incentives for games and gamers not disincentives. It’s not circa 1980/81.
  5. Oh, and on Jaguar a little later in life it was Wolfenstein 3D. One of my favorite gaming moments when I beat that game; that and Goldeneye on N64.
  6. I get no leaderboards at all. The only one that kind of happens is local but I have to move to one of the other ones and then scroll back. Is this a known bug? (pun intended)
  7. For my wife, it was Centipede. That was her arcade game. For me it was Dig Dug at home and Tempest in the Arcade. What was yours?
  8. I received my VCS a few days ago and set everything up and got it going pretty well. With the exception of a few hiccups like my modern controller usb being defective it's been great. While having owned a multitude of game systems this is a little bit of a new animal to me as I haven't owned a PC for over 20 years. Just thought I would ask a couple of questions that having been nagging at me as a noob and maybe have others add any as well. Primarily using this as a gaming machine on my home theater tv. 1) PC Mode & Chrome-what do I do with them if I don't plan on using the VCS as a computer? Are there any downloadable gaming apps (Luna, Stadia, GamePass, others) that I should think of using it for? I see a lot of people talking about upgrading, is that required? Is it easy to do as I never had any experience with PC gaming. 2) Best screen setting for the tv. Have an LG CX OLED. Right now it's set in the middle setting. Is the high 4K setting any better or does it make it tougher to run stuff because of the hardware specs? 3) Friends Tags on VCS. Is their value to have a separate topic on posting friend tags for invites. Feeling a little sad there is a big fat 0 in that department. Are their games that matter and use that or is just something that doesn't have a lot of use on this system? 4) Any chance that some of these games get updates. As someone who did not get Missile Command for free I would love VCS specific challenges, leaderboards and other such content to bring this up to par with the other Recharged Games. Even with the other ones, some comments would be great options to consider adding in the future. As a VCS add on, including all versions of the game to the Recharged (2600/5200/Arcade) etc.. 5) Similar to 4, would love the ability (even though the old school games did not have it) to have leaderboards for 7800/5200/2600 games. It could be automated or even an app on the VCS where you can post up through your account. Would really like to see how awful I am and give me something to strive for. 6) Anstream. Does anybody get a stutter pause every once in a while playing? Is that my internet, the hardware or app? Confused about the payment. I pay gems once and then get to keep playing that game or do I pay each game, each session? Not a lot of explanation. New to sites like this so would love to get some clarification. 7) In Shop, would like to see a 7800 section added for scrolling. Not a ton of games but it would be nice as they add more. Love the Flashback Fridays, keep them coming. Are we going to get more 5200 and 2600 games coming out in either a Vault or Individually? Games are what's going to bring people in-unique propositions. 8 I know Atari has their list of IPs on the website, and Wikepedia has developer and publisher listed for all games from the 2600/5200/7800. As a history nerd I would love to see what happened and who owns the rights to those IPs as it would be interesting to communicate and set up some kind of voting thing for Atari on other games we would love for them to consider obtaining or getting rights to. Who owns Defender? Who owns Robotron? Who owns Dig Dug? I know you can play some of these through other means but for others who and how would be helpful. Maybe that's what the MobyGames acquistion was about. I would just love to see a more singular resource for referencing how to play certain games. Kind of like ReelGood for tv and movies. Thanks for any information and insight.
  9. So in case anyone is interested. I went back and compared the Atari Flashback Classics (Switch) list with the master list of games on all versions of the Flashback series and then specifically my 8 Gold Activision edition. I wanted to see how many games I would be missing from these compared to just owning both and if interested what the best way would be to accumulate them. There are 29 games in the Flashback series that are not on those two that I would be currently missing. The most bang for the buck seems to come from X Deluxe but not all are available. I am not sure what's specifically on the VCS Vaults and available in the store as I am waiting on mine to be delivered (maybe update when I do). Anyways, if anyone is interested here is what is missing and the best way to get these games: Flashback X Deluxe: Amidar Asteroids Deluxe Burgertime Burnin' Rubber Chase It! Escape It! Frogger Front Line Gyruss Jungle Hunt Lock n' Chase Marine Wars Miss It! Pong-Video Olympics Pooyan Shield Shifter Space Invaders Space Raid Strategy X Super Cobra Tutankham Caverns of Mars (FB 2) Charley Chuck's Food Fight (FB 1) Lunar Lander (FB 2/3) Pitfall II: Lost Caverns (FB 9 Gold) Planet Smashers (FB 1) Real Sports Boxing (FB 3) Space Duel (FB 2/3) Strip Off (FB 5, 6, 7 & 9 Gold)
  10. Ok, based on the recommendation of Draxxon and my Activision tirade in another post I was able to grab one of the 8 Gold Activision versions at the local Mernards for the $40. I am not a "hacker" or "modifier" so I will just play it as it is. My quick thoughts as this is my first Flashback (I do have mini NES & SNES from Nintendo). Overall I thought it was easy to use and hunt around for the games. The interface was decent and breaking it down by only Activision games was a nice plus. The controllers are cheap and smaller but still felt good as it had been a long time since I used one of the Atari joysticks. Loved having it be cordless, the buttons on the P1 controller, super convenient. Either I am really bad at these games (possible) or there is a lag with the bluetooth as mentioned previously. I give myself about a week before I either break the joystick (from very fervent and angry play or just chucking it to the ground in anger). Now, the collecting nerd that I am went ahead and wikipediad the flashback series, printed out the comparative checklist of all the different versions, cross referenced it with the Switch version of Atari Flashback classics with which games that are missing on this versus that and then I will cross-reference that to the games on other versions of Flashback. If I can get those cheap I will pick up (really missing Frogger, Space Invaders & Burgertime). Otherwise, I will just enjoy this in all its pretty decent but super cheap glory. Oh, and if you can guess the first game, 3 games, and 5 games I played in order I will give you a prize (even better than an NFT it's a JIIRT). Hint, they were all Activision games. Good Luck!
  11. I played a ton of the Atari games in my youth but never played Black Widow before. Cannot believe how much I love that game now and that I missed playing it when I was younger. It's a mash up of three games that I love: Tempest, Centipede and Asteroids. I am definitely thinking of picking up the Recharged version. Any old school Atari games that you missed out on and have "discovered"?
  12. Switch has an Atari Flashback Classics game that came out 2 years ago. 150 different games across 2600, 5200 as well as Arcade editions for $36 on Amazon. It's a great collection with challenges using the Switch controls, although the Pro controller works much better in my opinion. Been playing that as I patiently wait for my VCS to come. Lots of great games but it's no Activision 2600 collection like I really want.
  13. What everyone is saying is reality, but reality sucks and in the words of Fox Mulder, "I want to believe." I know Activision has a bad taste in everyone's mouth right now (as it should). I agree with you in that I would be hopeful that Atari would want to go after these kind of IPs to resurrect the Atari brand from its hey day (a tall task I know). If not I would push Activision to co-brand to create a Retro Type Studio that's independent and spin it off or sell it to leverage those properties because sadly they will never be seen or heard from again otherwise. Nostalgia is big and Atari has a small window of opportunity to try and bring as much as they can under one roof. First task is install base and that is done through content, unique propositions, clever marketing socially. As a 50+ year old who grew up and adored my 2600 and there is nothing I want more than to play these games how they were meant to be played-with a joystick and a big red button. I am indifferent about the PC part (never played PC games and don't need one) and to be honest I am fairly indifferent to even loading up Steam, Luna, etc.. as my Switch gives me all of that and more. No need for PS5 Xbox for me. Atari is right to abandon iOS/Android. If they want to create value proposition with VCS then they need to burn the ship and go all out. A logo and some tweets isn't going to do it. I digressed but so much opportunity that I feel is just going to fade away and sadly so will my childhood. PS. I want Demon Attack as well, that game was the game that defined who was the best video game player between me and my brothers when we were younger (alas it was not me, but I want my revenge)....
  14. Looking forward to receiving my VCS in the next few days. I backed one, backed out, had FOMO and then bought one anyways. Just going through sites as much as I can. So many of my favorite Atari 2600 games came from Activision-Pitfall, Enduro, Chopper Command, Grand Prix, Kaboom! just to name a few. Do we have any chance of seeing them or other Publishers on the system or am I just dreaming?
