You tried hitting enter to see if it brings up the menu for the selection?
Page Up/Page Down?
+/-?
This kind of BIOS generally doesn't use the arrow keys to change options, it's usually +/-, or PageUp/PageDown.
-Ian
yes, I tried all those buttons when I am on the help page. it doesnt allow me to choose another selection. it remains at the default settings "all errors".
-
Okay, I assume you're trying to select "No errors" from outside this help menu right? I have the same BIOS (or a very similar looking AWARD BIOS at least) and you choose the different selections (in the place that's red on your screen shot there) with the arrow left/right keys.
As for the other issue, the battery on the mb could be dead or low. I'd check that first. Could explain why the No Error setting doesn't stick. That shouldn't prevent you from making a menu selection though.
It sounds like you're trying the right things otherwise though.
BTW, that's not DOS, that's your BIOS, which is pre-DOS. It starts up all your basic hardware systems and starts up DOS or other OS.
battery? I didnt know it had a battery. is it simple to change? I dont know anything about it. when I hear battery, I think of something like a "aa" duracell for your electric toothbrush or tv remote!
yes, I select "no errors" outside the help section. I exit it to bring me another "prompt" page. when I want to leave that page, it asks me if i want to save it, which of course, I do. but when i reboot it later, it goes back to the default. so when i go to the help page, it doesnt allow me to select a new deault. I guess thats where the battery issue lies.

I have a problem with my mame cab. as many of you may remember, I bought a mame cab last year. it has 600 games. its been running well for the past year and a half but now when I boot it up, it give me an error about the floppy disk. it prompts me to press F1 to ignore the problem. simple, right? not really. I have to unplug the joystick and plug in my keyboard to do so.
then, I started to think. why dont I try and over ride the command? so, I decided to go into dos mode and change the setting from stopping at "all errors" to "no errors". I saved it then resets itself and everything is fine. but when I shut it off, it goes back to its defualt setting again. it doesnt always do this all the time. it could reset itself 5 minutes after its off of an hour. so, I dug a little deeper into dos and went to the help settings. i got this:
so, all I have to do is select the "no erros" to default BUT it is not allowing me to! does anyone know how I can select it? the arrows on the keyboard wont select it nor will any of the other keys on the board, that I know of. can some one help!!
from what Im told, this computer in the cab is a 1997 model.

Ive used the term "backdoor" with all my girlfriends, when ordinary sex gets boring.
-
I had the wico controllers. me and scream and fly used to cram 3 coleco cartridges in the box and buy it. we'd walk out of the store with $90 worth of games.
-
back in 1985, I built a cartridge holder for my coleco cartridges. I was always building weird things. I remember having to explain to people what it was. I always said that it was a coffin for my d**k!

Yie Ar Kung Fu - this one was on a GBA Konami classics cart and was also released on Xbox Live
Goonies 1 - this was released on the Famicom in Japan, but I don't know if it was released anywhere else.
I never saw goonies in the arcade. anyone else?
I know that it was in some of the Play Choice 10 machines, so not really an arcade version, no. But, technically in arcades, I suppose.
oh yea. but it was on the NES, first. doesnt really qualify for this thread.

I remember way back in 82 when a friend of mine was telling me that he was in all american one day and he saw a guy watching "tv" on his wrist watch. I know this was pure and utter bullshit because as awsome as it sounded, I knew it wasnt true. I didnt think we'd ever get the technoligy but we are now. grant it, we dont watch tv or movies on a wrist watch but we can view them on ipods and such and they are near the size. frankly, I cant see screens getting any smaller because you would basically strain your eyes trying to watch something so small!

The guy doesnt go into much detail. he is making it seems as if it comes with all the games but doesnt say "cartridges". I emailed him and asked if it was a mod or sometype of joystick with multiple games like they sell at the malls but he never answered me.

one game I found almost impossible to finish is INDIANA JONES & THE TEMPLE OF DOOM. I could never make it to the rope bridge.
I've beaten it. There's a few shortcuts you can do to get to the last lava level in a few moments.
contra without using the code ....is ultra hard - plus it's a great gameBeat it with only 1 man. Never lost a life. Even at the very end!
ive tried it but even with the cheats, I could complete the last level that takes to the bridge. I was always one kid shy of getting to the bridge.

Ghosts and Goblins
I was able to finish it. its a great game!!!!

I'm looking for around $1500, but will negotiate on the price. This is for serious buyers only and I will only accept cash, which would be paid upon meeting in person. Also, I will not be breaking this collection apart. It is being sold as is as a whole set. Thank you
-
I say we all email the guy and offer him $50 for the whole lot, providing that he personally delivers it!
-
does anyone actually think this is worth what he is asking?
-
do you know how many of these I had passed up at garage sales over the years? it wasnt until I found out how rare they were when I stopped seein them.
-
ok, I dont have mame coming out of my speakers on my tv. why not? do i need to hook up rcas?
Yes.
Hook the headphone jack of the laptop to the red/white RCA inputs on the TV.
You need one of these, available at most electronics stores and WalMart etc:

thanks!! I have a few laying around my home. actually, one was right next to my laptop and I didnt even know.

Buying the Mame files is kinda weird. Since it is just somebody out there who collected all the files.
You're not buying the MAME files, you're paying for shipping and the discs for someone to copy them for you from a known good and complete source. It's no different than downloading them from a torrent, which is also just somebody out there who collected all the files.
someone should tell this guy then:

Well, do you have a laptop with an S-video out port? I have one, just never got around to hooking it up to my HDTV.
Or do you have a video card on your PC that has a DVI out port? Have an HDTV? Cable 'em together & you can play it on the tele.
yes, I have an "s" video out on the laptop. my tv has "s" ports as well.
not sure about the second choice you gave me, so lets go with the "s" video out solution.
im not sur if my tv is hd, its a 1998 projection tv.

yes, youre correct. I selected it on the screen where it is highlighted in "red". I would save it then reboot and it would be fine. then I shut it off from anywhere to 5 minutes to 60 minutes and it seems to go back to default.
I know I should be concentrating on the real problem at hand, however!
