  1. Ive been using SSD drives for over 10 years and in the last 2 years Ive had a Sumsung, SP and another off brand die within a year. All were warrantied but thats little consoliation when you lose your data or have to rebuild an OS. All of them have been these M.2 drives
  2. Ok so the Docker thing wasnt too bad on my QNAP Container Station server - if anyone wants help let me know, but its the way to go. You just need to Edit the container, Add a bridged Network to get an IP address. You can then navigate to the shared "data" folder through File Station and just move whatever images you want there. Honestly took 15 mins to get it running vs the hours spent fussing with a Windows image. Its less taxing on the QNAP as well
  3. So I went down this rabbit hole this weekend with mixed results. I was able to create a Win11 image via VirtualBox and import it to the Virtualization Machine on my QNAP NAS. Its a pig but it works for now. Id rather the Unix/Docker route but am not that experienced with that. QNAP provides Docker access so I can download the container here: https://hub.docker.com/r/tschak909/tnfsd-x64 What I dont know is how I would get into it to put my files and make it available on my personal network. For the Win11 image I just had to turn on network discovery and it worked. Also - for those that want to try this you can run Win11 Home without a license - you cant customize it, but for a TNFS server it can work. Also - is there a place where I can get the Highscore enabled images to host on my private server for myself
  4. Anyone have some recent suggestions on SSD drives that work? I bought a Silicon Power drive a little over a year ago and its dead already - not crossing my fingers they will warranty it. I could buy another for $60 but would rather another brand which seems to last.
  5. Anyone having trouble with XBox games on the latest Batocera on the VCS800? I was running 06/2023 and updated to 04/2024 through the GUI and my XBox games hang shortly after starting. Curious if others ran into an issue?
  6. 48K - havent had time to pull it out for a test with it being powered.
  7. Just wondering if the Fujinet works on an original Atari 800? I hve a v1.6 FN which works great on my 130XE, however I plugged it into my 800 and it went to the Memopad. WHen I turn my 800 on the light on the FN only slightly illuminates before turning off while Memopad comes up. Once the 800 is fully running the FN light is fully lit. Almost seems like my 800 cant boot the FN. Just curious if Im missing something.
  8. Anyone know if this system had widespread use in any country or company?
  9. When trying to connect my ST to my 80bit on the same phone line to perform an inhouse transfer I would whistle into the phone to simulate the connection tone - it worked to get one of the modems to kick in - took a few tries but it can be done
  10. My $0.02 is Atari needs to bring these concepts together in a comprehensive package. The VCS800 wasnt a bad idea but wrong price point, however it can run more modern games. Take the 2600+ and give it the ability to run the same store/games the VCS800 can (maybe to a lesser degree due to GPU) and I think you have a winner. SD slot is a must and it defines a "platform" from Atari with new and old games. Having the GameStation Pro and 2600+ and VCS with different UIs and overlap in games is a mess to me. Just my $0.02
  11. Dont some of the R77's have a problem with heat and Stella - Not sure if the latest models have what I believe was a memory issue and heat problem.
  12. 12300 Had a weird collision issue in the first city where being low on side of screen would blow up even though nothing was there so just stayed high to get through that 1 spot
  13. The end of my ST story ended when I couldnt get a good VT100 or such emulation through my modem. I needed this to work remotely when out of hour support was needed. The best program at the time was ProComm Plus on the PC so I had to jump ship and got a low end 486 or such at the time with a Trident SVGA card!
  14. I had a 1030 modem and a buddy of mine created an ingenious method to auto answer for my BBS. We took a joystick cable and connected the trigger wire to the transformer of a rotary "bell" phone. When someone called it generated enough of a charge to "trigger" the BBS software to answer All I had to sacrifice was a cable off a broken joystick and a phone we no longer used.
  15. free advice for anyone managing the firmware release - whenever one of the best VP of Product Mgmt I worked with was asked a similar question his answer was always: "Not soon enough" So - for everyone that wants to ask when it will be production you can self answer the question now.
  16. My ICD-Fast HD I had similar issue - turning it on no noise - repeated flicks of the switch would eventually jumpstart the motor to running.
  17. If want a challenge in the mean time, Brutal Doom Beta3 came out recently...........it is brutal!
  18. Id see the Maxi800 as a slightly enlarged 400mini. Cart slots are not functional so not a big change there, so just make model a bit bigger with a mini keyboard - creating a whole new 600XL design seems like it would be a more costly route IMHO.
  19. I would be interested if I could bring my existing HD image to run off the mini while providing me network and modern printer access to my ST. Id also like to somehow bring my Mac and IBM partitions to run Spectre and my 286 emu
  20. Did you anger the queen at some point before? Is your write protect switch off if you are using emulation?
  21. There was no editor but the program would generate a "new world" for you to conquer should you be tired of the Americas. Was a great game BITD
