  1. I never played much River Raid but since picking up a 2600+ and a copy of it I've become addicted. What an awesome game.
  2. Still kicking myself for not grabbing all the great 7800 homebrews. Of course, I had no idea I’d end up with a 2600+ at the time.
  3. Man if they released a 5200 adapter and maybe some new controllers...
  4. It comes with two types of pads...one that you can screw in a thumb stick like the euro pad and another that is more like the NES d-pad. I tried both and in the end chose the NES style d-pad. It's a great controller.
  5. Works fine. It's what I use on my 2600+. Awesome controller.
  6. 7800 Rikki and Vikki no doubt. Also, maybe hire PacManPlus to do some 7800 games. He’s one of the most talented programmers around.
  7. No original hardware to test on. I’m sure I can get another copy fairly cheaply. Just happy the others worked, especially Pitfall!. That was the game my son wanted the most.
  8. It feels pretty solid and doesn’t feel loose. No big loss honestly as it only cost a couple of bucks. I may take it apart eventually and see what’s up.
  9. Just hooked it up and went through my carts (all are NTSC). Gave each one a good cleaning before trying it out. Demon Attack - worked Space Invaders - worked Ms. Pac-Man (7800) - worked Food Fight (7800) - worked Pole Position II (7800) - worked Pitfall! - worked Astroblast - failed Astroblast failed to load the first time. Removed and cleaned again and this time it loaded but would not start. Multiple tries failed to get it to run correctly. Could never start a game no matter what controller I used or how many times I tried resetting. Not sure if it’s a problem with my particular cart or a problem with game compatibility itself. My RetroGameBoyz pad worked perfectly with 2600 and 7800 games. The included 2600 stick felt pretty stiff but otherwise reminded me of the original. All in all I am impressed.
  10. Bought it online from here... https://retrogameboyz.com/products/copy-of-atari-7800-controller-2600-joystick-control-pad-gamepad-rainbow?variant=39309806665783
  11. Mine will arrive Tuesday, which will give me a chance to try out all the carts I purchased and make sure they work before wrapping everything for Christmas. I should probably just clean them with a little alcohol before trying them out.
  12. Picked up some used 2600/7800 games at a local shop, in addition to ordering a 7800 gamepad. I'm a network engineer and work remotely from home so I'll probably unbox the 2600+ and make sure everything works before boxing it up for my son's Christmas present.
  13. Just picked up a 7800 game pad from RetroGameBoyz. Looking forward to trying it out when the 2600+ is released.
  14. Copy found locally of all places.
  15. Thanks. So I guess I just need a working copy now and I can get a replacement label.
  16. Wasn't planning on buying a 2600+ until my son fell in love with Pitfall! at the Museum of Technology @ Middle Georgia State University in Macon, GA. Being autistic he took to the one button joystick like a champ and was way more comfortable with it than with modern gamepads. After we left all he could talk about was the 2600 and Pitfall!. So I pre-ordered a 2600+ and an extra joystick on Amazon and now I'm looking for a good, clean loose cart of Pitfall! to complete his Christmas present (check the wanted section if anybody can help me out in this regard). I'm looking forward to eventually grabbing a nice little collection of some of my old favorites and enjoying them with him.
  17. Hello all. My autistic son recently got a chance to play his first Atari 2600 at the Museum of Technology @ Middle Georgia State University in Macon, GA and fell in love with the simplicity of the games and controllers. Here's a pic from our visit... If you live in Georgia and find yourself in Macon stop by for a visit. It's a pretty nice little collection they are building there. I posted a Google review with lots of pics if anyone is interested. Now that Christmas is approaching he wants a 2600 and Pitfall!. I ordered him a 2600+ and now just need a copy of Pitfall!. Anyone have a nice, clean, working loose cart they want to part with? Thanks everyone.
  18. I've already emailed management about leaving permanently and figured I'd log in one last time to say goodbye and state why. I'm sick of opening the 5200 forum and being met with thread after thread of conversion requests from this guy. The 5200 was my system growing up so I like to read this particular forum often. But his constant begging for someone to convert XL games has sucked whatever joy I had right out. So so long folks. It's been fun.
  19. Super Breakout, Defender, Star Raiders, Pole Position, and Pac-Man.
  20. I spent a good year back in the early 2000s trying to source a replacement potentiometer that was also spring return to center, which would take care of the non-centering issue as well as serve as a replacement for worn out factory pots. After talking with every manufacturer I could find I never did find what I was looking for. With China now able to manufacture pretty much anything under the sun I wonder if maybe a spring return to center replacement pot might now be a possibility.
  21. I use a PS4 controller on my Mac and it syncs right up via Bluetooth and works perfectly.
  22. I wrote a rudimentary Apple II program that kept track of every student, their grades, absences, etc. back in the mid 80s for my high school in Pascal. I went back in the early 90s to visit and they were still using it, much to my amazement. I wrote some interesting stuff when I was a CS student in college but don’t remember much of what I did. The last programming I did was back in the 90s when I contributed to some open source stuff. Now I can barely write a simple Basic program. You don’t use it you lose it I guess.
  23. I like to think my Vampire powered A1200 in a Checkmate Case is pretty amazing. Plays everything I throw at it, including CD32 games using the internal DVD drive (CD audio is mixed with Paula audio). Plus it is FAST thanks to the Vampire 1200. Here’s my thread at Amiga.org... https://forum.amiga.org/index.php?topic=74342.0
  24. When Commodore went under I held on to my A1200 as long as I could until it was obvious that it was time to move on. I remember buying my first Pentium machine running Windows 95. Since then I’ve built plenty of Windows machines but my current everyday machine is a Mac. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
