  1. Oh wait. Was your company going to do it? If so, what was the plan? Could you dynamically scroll DLIs to get more color?
  2. Was development ever started on Paperboy?
  3. It didn’t load the first time and then did the second. Here’s a screenshot of the beginning of the article.
  4. Thanks, everyone. It was this article that piqued my interest in the game. War Copter looks close.
  5. Does anyone know if there was a reason the Atari series did not receive a port? Was it technically not possible or had Broderbund moved on from the Atari 8-bits?
  6. He came up with such interesting titles. I think Mouse Party was the first game of his that I typed in. It’s a really fun 4-player game.
  7. Thanks, Snicklin. You have seen Paul Rixon’s Page 6 website, haven’t you? What amazed me was how prolific Halsall was and the variety of the titles he created, all of which could be typed into your Atari every couple of months.
  8. Does anyone know what happened to the coder Bill Halsall? He wrote a large number of type-in listing games for Page 6/New Atari User magazine, all in machine code. I’ve searched online but could not find any interviews or other information. Here’s what atarimania lists him as the author of.
  9. I'm so glad to see that these exist! Years ago I posted on these forums about an article from, I think, Edge magazine, where it mentioned Archer McClean's Defender prototypes. It's nice that the world can finally see both of these projects!
  10. I don’t know how I missed that release but what a great looking game!
  11. Thank you for adding the shadows. This looks superb.
  12. Regarding the shadowing, I meant the objects casting a shadow onto the board. I will say that the darker shadows do look even better, however. The money too makes it particularly impressive. This is such good work!
  13. This mock up looks fantastic! Could you simulate shadows on the 3D items (dice and cards) with black stippling?
  14. Has anything of Flash Gordon ever been recovered? Both me and my brother played so much Captain Sticky’s Gold.
  15. According to the March 2023 issue of Retrogamer, Steve Riding has passed away: https://www.pressreader.com/uk/retro-gamer/20230316/281779928344846 Here is a short interview with him that mentions a game I had not seen on the Atari, Flash Gordon: https://www.antstream.com/post/dev-history-steve-riding
  16. What an achievement! I wonder what Harlequin Software’s version would have looked like.
  17. I would love to hear an interview with Steve Coleman about the making of Rainbow Walker and Pharaoh’s Curse.
  18. Hi Rybags. I suggested slowing Encounter down because it becomes extremely fast in the later levels, especially in the tunnels between levels. Not sure if there are any hacked levels with extra or infinite lives. Regarding the C64 Endings site, it’s a defunct website that is worth visiting to view the endings of many games. Even though it’s intended for C64 games, there are plenty of titles that were really similar on both Commodore and Atari 8-bit platforms. Oh, and you can see that Encounter has no ending in the section labeled “507?Games with no endings”.
  19. I’m not sure but I think you can play this in an emulator and slow it down. Apparently, the C64 version does not end.
  20. Your character animation is great and has a lot of charm!
  21. I began coding my game Schmutznik on the Atari 8-bit because of this feature but, after struggling with assembly language, ended up writing it instead for PC (there are some code snippets in the programming forums at Atariage but nothing very advanced, unfortunately).
