  1. Is there a way to peek a memory location to determine which os I have?
  2. I just finished cleaning the keyboard on my most recently acquired (i.e. third) 1200xl. All keys (including function keys) work 100% according to both the built-in keyboard test and actual test typing with AtariWriter. The only thing that doesn't work are the "control-f1" and "control-f2" keyboard disable and screen shut-off features. I know the "control" key is working because "control-f4" (int'l/graphics character set) works. And I know the f1 and f2 keys are working because I can drive the cursur around with them in BASIC. The "L1" led doesn't get power either when pressing "control-f1" which I believe it should. I tested the led, itself, and it works. Also, if I run the following program: 10 pr.peek(764) 20 goto 10 I get values for the function keys, individually, and correct values for control-f3 and control-f4, but no independent value for control-f1 or control-f2. Any thoughts?
  3. I bet I know what one of those hacks is
  4. Tried out my Krokodile Cart for the first time. It's amazing how simple and fast it is to load a bin file to it. But I did have some trouble getting in into the cart slot on my heavy sixer- has anyone else run into this? It doesn't seem to fit quite right. All my other carts fit fine. After carefully wiggling side-to-side while putting some heavy pressure on it, it does go in, but it's really tight. Once it was in, I was amazed to see my game pop up. Excellent work and thanks to all who put their time and labor into this project.
  5. Got mine! Yippeeeeee! Can hardly wait to try it.
  6. They weren't withheld, they just weren't shipped until yesterday for two different reasons (needed someone's address for one, and had other items to get ready to include with the other). Nothing nefarious. I just sent out email to everyone. If you paid for a Krokodile Cart, it's now on the way to you.. Some of you may even receive it today or tomorrow, depending on the USPS of course.. ..Al [Audible sigh of relief]. Thanks Albert.

    My 2600

Great idea. I think I'm going to do this but I'd like to mount the switches in the joystick case. Sure I'll have two cords from the joystick to the console instead of just one, but they could be taped together to keep things neat.
  8. What I wonder is what the two "exceptions" did to deserve having their krokodile carts withheld. I'm relatively new to these forums so I ask: How bad must you be to p*** off Albert?
  9. Those unfortunate "two exceptions" are going to feel a like the last kids picked for the kickball teams once everyone else starts receiving their krokodile carts! Do they know who they are?
  10. Help... please... just bought my 3rd 1200xl..... why?... I don't know. I bought the second one to mod, but after getting it working, I didn't have the heart to tear it apart. This really is a disease. (will post serial number when it arrives)
  11. I love the cd drive in the 1050 case. What brand keyboard did you use?
  12. This guy used an ITX and a small laptop usb keyboard which only required minor cutting (for the keyboard). The back of the case is butchered. He has a website somewhere with better pics and descriptions but I can't seem to find it.
  13. I'm waiting to get the XEGS boards in to see which will be more suitable for the 1200XL. The XL/XE one thats in now does fit, but there is just enough room between the module and the cartridge port for an IDE cable, not a flash module or anything bigger than a cable connection. The XEGS module extends further out to the right and the IDE connector faces the other way. Once I figure out which one works the best I'll add a 1200XL ordering option that includes basic and a new MMU like the Warp+ OS kit. Steve Put me in line for a 1200xl version once you get it perfected. Thanks.
  14. Is there a 1200xl version of the internal MyIDE?
  15. A boxed 1200xl for $20 is a steal. Who is "she"? Where does "she" live? Does "she" have any more?
  16. That looks great. Did you lose the texture by painting it?
  17. I have looked through my stuff and the net but haven't found the doc files of the Assembler-Editor Summary (two page) or Mathew Ratcliff's abbreviated docs. Perhaps someone knows where these are archived? I thought that both were on the Holmes CD's, but can't find them. The two-page summary is particularly useful if you have ever used the cartridge before. -Larry I've been looking for the summary as well. If someone has one, perhaps he or she could please scan it. Seems like a while back there would always be 3 or 4 Assembly Editor packages on ebay, but lately they seem to have become scarce.
  18. It's a joke. These days.. If you want the full (registered) version of a piece of software, you either get a "Keygen" (which is a program that generates bogus serial numbers (or registration keys) for a specific piece of software) or you get "cracked" versions of the executables for the program, or another program written specifically to "patch" the executables and/or make the necessary windows registry modifications. This thread is about collecting 1200XL serial numbers.. I was JOKING that I had a program that creates bogus 1200XL serial numbers. Most people got the joke.. Well, that one went right over my head. That's ok 'cause it wasn't all that funny anyway.
  19. Can anyone point me to a good typing instruction program for my 10 yr old daughter. Link to an atr would be great. (I managed to convince my wife that keeping the 1200xl would be a great way to teach typing).
  20. My second 1200xl from ebay: 72R DA 08481 193
  21. I liked my 1200xl so much I just couldn't resist getting a second one. This one has some bad keys and isn't in great condition so I'm thinking I will use it for modifications.
  22. Thanks, I'll give that a try tonight. But if anyone has an Assembler Editor cart they'd like to part with, I'd still be interested in purchase/trade.
  23. I found the mac65 code somewhere but it downloaded as a .rom file. For some reason, it won't load into APE so I used makeATR to convert it to an .atr file. I then transferred it to my sio2sd but I get a BOOT ERROR when I try to load it. The same thing happens when I try to load Assembly Editor as an .atr- that's why I gave up and just want to find a cart.
  24. Anyone know of a source (besides ebay) for an Atari Assembler Editor cart? I know that Best Electronics has them but they have a minimum $50 order for paypal but I just want the cart and I've already bought a bunch of other Atari stuff (e.g., another 1200xl) so my budget is growing short.
