  1. I feel lucky that I can get games like this through other AAers...
  2. Hmmm... If you asked my wife, she would probably say somewhere around 30,000. Realistically I'd guess the correct number is somewhere in the mid to upper hundreds, but that also includes PAL titles, protos, homebrews, etc. I really haven't counted in a long long time. At this point it would be easier to tally the number of carts I DON'T have, which for NTSC games released prior to 1991 (not including label variations) I would estimate to be less than 50.
  3. Never. The only systems I have ever purchased (or received as a gift) new from a retail store are two NES systems (1st the frontloader as a birthday present, then a toploader which I bought for myself many years later), a Jaguar, and the Flashback 2. I also bought a new-in-box Intellivision at a garage sale once, but I don't think that counts. Even my first Atari 2600, a Christmas present from my parents back in the early 80s, had been previously owed by one of my cousins.
  4. I know someone who claims he went to Wal-Mart and came home with scabies. Does that sort of count as a cover charge?
  5. Wow....... This inspires me to put my guaranteed-original-definitely-not made-by-Hozer-in-1998 Malagai/Gauntlet double ender up on eBay! I'll even include the carbon dating certificate!!! And a button that once belonged to former president Calvin Coolidge!!!!
  6. I would like to report that the party at VG Addict was a success. The event featured several newcomers, including another Hawaii-based AAer, plus the usual crew. I was going to take some pics to show what a rockin' time was had by all, but by the time I got around to it almost everyone had already left. Oh well. At least these are better than nothing. Already looking forward to the next. (And by the way, VG Addict now stocks a small collection of vintage games. Thanks Layton!!!)
  7. Still some time to hop a plane from the west coast and make it here for the party... 4pm today. VG Addict, Nimitz Hwy, Honolulu. Free pizza!
  8. You could install a glass (or plexi-glass) door on the shelf to keep the dust off. Then you can see them, have easy access, and not have to worry about the dust as much.
  9. Yep, I've had my U2 tix since January... They were supposed to play in April, but the show got postponed. Can't wait! Keep trying for those tickets! Thanks for the info on the other AAer here in Hawaii. I believe I have spoke to him before.
  10. Normally the get-togethers for the Hawaii video game enthusiasts are small and informal, mainly because there seems to be so few of us, but I am hoping that this will soon change. Why? VG Addict. A new video game store just opened up here in Honolulu and the owner wants to host our next event. This will provide a nice central location with plenty of free parking while at the same time getting the store a little publicity. So here is the info: DATE: Saturday, December 16th TIME: 4:00pm LOCATION: VG Addict Video Games (@ Nimitz Center, same complex with AAA Hawaii, Sensually Yours, New Eagle Cafe, Subway, etc.) ADDRESS: 1130 N. Nimitz Hwy, Suite A-146, Honolulu PHONE: (808) 545-7766 What to bring? Probably snacks and drinks, although I would not bring any alcohol since the owner did not specify that it would be okay. And of course any games for show, play, or trade from retro to modern. The store has an X-Box 360 set up, but no PS3 or Wii (as of last weekend.) Would be great if someone had one of those to show off. Please reply to this thread or PM me with any questions. I hope to see some new faces!
  11. The existence of Frogger allows me to keep a 2600 hooked up to the TV in my living room. Can't go wrong with that one. Also popular is Rabbit Transit, Edtris (well, she likes Tetris on EVERY system), Glib (only because she likes to make up fake words), and just about anything Pac-Man like. This topic reminds me that I was going to give Quick Step a trial run one day soon. I think it may turn out to be a hit.
  12. That got me thinking... I don't think I've ever come across a Checkers label WITH actiplaque. Strange I never noticed before.
  13. Okay, no Atari-brand Demon Attacks, but I still have a couple of nice game stashes... And many more where these came from.
  14. I suddenly remembered that I had subscribed to these topics in case I needed them for future reference. Here are the links: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?a...f=8&t=61628 http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?a...f=8&t=91303 Hope they help.
  15. I know this issue was addressed before on the forums because I had read about it after having the same problem with mine. I just tried doing a search, but no luck. Anyone else recall?
  16. I have noticed that too. I started buying PAL stuff pretty heavily about a year ago since I rarely find any NTSC stuff I need anymore. For around 10 EUR or less I had picked up Z-Tack, Mission Survive, Pitufo, Universal Chaos (new in box), plus many more. Just got a PAL Cakewalk off eBay for 40 EUR. Figure I'll never find the NTSC at a price I can afford, so what the heck. Pricecs have definitely been on the rise, though. It seems like a lot more collectors from the States are looking overseas for those exclusive carts.
  17. Uh, isn't that the same as the code to get 100 free lives in Contra? Strange... If I ever find myself back in Madison, I'll be sure to check the place out. Thanks. Hope there are still some good items floating around if any of you locals make it out to the stores.
  18. Replay was right on the main road that went straight to the capitol. I think it was called East Washington Ave. I remember it was near a Walgreens. The Goodwill was set off the main road a bit in a shopping complex near the Home Depot. Madison was a super nice city, by the way. Hope to make it there again some day. A bit cold, though.
  19. My hobby plus my profession. Wow, thats pretty dull.
  20. This message may be several days too late, but this past week I was in Madison, WI, on business and there was a Goodwill Superstore right across from my hotel. I went inside for a look and they had a nice looking Odyssey^2 that appeared complete in the box (except for the game) for $14.99. There was also a Sega Pico system for I think $8. Since neither is compatible with a small suitcase, I left them both where they lay. Just thought someone might be interested. There was also a good used game store right down the street called Replay that had a bunch of 2600 and Inty games for $1.99 each, plus a fair selection of used NES and SNES. 'k den.
  21. AtariRx, Could you please scan or make a nice looking picture of your newer version for our database: http://www.atarimania.com/accueil_2600-MENU-2.html We still have to do with this crappy picture: http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?...ERSION_ID=14094 Would be great. Unfortunately, my scanner broke about a year and a half ago (and I still haven't replaced it), but here are some photos. Feel free to use them. I'll try to get some better ones up eventually.
  22. Couldn't tell you.... There is no box with it. Sorry!
  23. If anyone is interested, I'm selling my extra copy of Pitufo on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Atari-2600-Game-PITUFO...emZ220012399870 I recently replaced it with one with a much nicer label, so this one needs a new home. I wouldn't expect it to sell for too high a price, but I'm guessing not too many people have this rare Spain-only label variation of Smurf in their collection. Thanks for looking!
  24. Got my copy today. (Economy shipping came through. Phew!) Simon, GREAT JOB. What a well put together package. Your hard work on the project is appreciated.
