  1. Thanks for the replies. I have 3 from 1983, it seems.. probably from the same display/demo unit. If anyone would like to 'steal' a dozen or so common cartridges, I'm going to list them on ebay them in a few days along with a new in the box Apple //e Platinum I've decided to let go of.
  2. Greetings and happy holidays! I'm cleaning out some vintage goodness this holiday break and ran across some TI-99 cartridges. Some have a metal aluminum 'loop' riveted in to the top/right of the cartridge case. What are these for? Were they from a store display unit so people wouldn't walk away with the games? I did happen to blow up the power supplies on 2 Apple //e and an IBM PS/2 model 50 system while I was testing things out yesterday :-( Vintage computers are FUN! (and very stinky when the caps blow on a 30 year old PSU)
  3. Thanks for the positive repies I'm real happy with it. It's been so long since I've had these out, I find myself standing there getting lost in those familiar labels. These strips are sold 12' long for $6.50 each at Lowes if anyone's interested. That room only gets indirect light but I think I'll cover the windows with some clear UV-blocking film to be safe. (yes?) Those have got to be the worst pics I ever took, ha.
  4. I started collecting 2600 games since the late 90's when they were still somewhat obtainable at flea markets and yard sales. I got lucky back then and found a Thunderground and Buck Rogers prototype/test cartridges in the wild and traded them to a fellow collector for a BIG box of games. I reached the 200 unique games mark and then lost interest for a while. All my games have been stored in the attic since then. I've wanted to display my games somehow but never liked the idea of them stacked on shelves. I want to see the artwork on the labels instead. After trial end error with plastic gutter leaf guards and velcro strips, I found these strips of vinyl siding at the local home improvement store and they work great. They're called J-channel strips and they are used along with vinyl siding on houses. Most 2600 cartridges fit right in the channel. I cut them to 10' lengths, brushed a few coats of paint on and used an air gun to attach them to the wall of my office with 1.5" staples. (sorry the pics are so big..)
  5. sorry, posted to the wrong area. Please remove.
  6. Yeah, maybe It's just been too long since I took notice of game prices. I'm not looking to sell so I guess it really doesn't matter. My disappointment might stem from seeing all those games that I don't own :-(
  7. Wow, I haven't been active in a long time so I searched 'atari 2600' on ebay and was a little dissapointed. I guess it was bound to happen, though. I remember nearly spending a few hundred bucks for a Waterworld or a hundred and change for a Chase/Chuckwagon cart back in the mid/late 90's. On ebay, I wasn't seeing any bids over about $80 just now, only a ton of overinflated 'rare' games (some in PSA-graded plastic) I quit collecting baseball cards when you had to have them 'officially' graded to feel good about your collection. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the 2600. For reals, I mean. I recently (today, actually) boxed up 1000+ CDs from my home office so I can display my 2600 carts on the wall instead. I mean, those CDs weren't gettin' no love anymore.. I've got plans to display my 300-ish 2600 carts on the wall in some vinyl channel/strips I found at Home Depot. If it works, I'll post pics because I can't seem to find anything decent to display the games I spent so much time searching for back in the day. It is good to see the Homebrews alive and well, though. I knew that was going to be here when I returned. Anyway, its good to know you guys are still here doing what we love.
  8. These games are really something to behold. I was a hardcore 2600 collector several years ago, but never knew there was so much from Brazil. I'm amazed at these 11 pages of games I've never seen. Or, have I... I wonder if any of you guys share the same feeling I've had while scrolling though these pictures from our friend Sr Ferraz... Call me loony, but I feel as though I've seen these games in my 'atari dreams'. You know the ones: you find a box of atari games, but they don't look like any games you've ever seen. They have names and labels you've never seen before. Usually, I don't have money to buy these games, or the person isn't willing to part with them. Either way, I never can acquire them in my dreams and wake up wondering if they exist. (Freud?) Enough nonsense from me. Congratulations on your impressive collection, Sr Ferraz. Thank you for the high quality scans. -jeremy
