I recently acquired an Atari 2600, 4 switch Darth Vader PAL model. I installed a composite video mod but my console will not produce any sound or video signal. Sometime it gives a beeping sound with varying pitch, other rare times it gives static on the screen, but most times no video signal and just static. The seller stated that the thing was tested before transport and was well packaged. Things I've done: Replaced the two capacitors with 830pf 50v ceramic ones. Removed all the required components for composite mod. Checked all the traces, including mods, all good. Checked the voltage regulator, all good. Checked the transistors and inductors, all good. Checked the chips for activity, getting a signal. Checked the AV sockets, getting 1V with the video out. I'm out of things to test and can't come to a diagnosis. Is there anything I've missed? These are pictures my current progress, still no luck.

so my Atari 2600 4 switch woody's left joysick up stopped working I tried multiple joysticks and the up direction doesn't work anymore. I have the pictures of the board what should I do? Now that I have the board out what would you do? I can solder but I don't know where to start. Also should I clean the board and how should I clean it up? -
I need help with my 4 switch 2600. Whenever you put a game in, it does not show any image, unless you put in Asteroids, then a couple of small fat red lines come on the screen. Is it a soldering issue? Please help

Hey, I recently picked up a 2600A woodgrain 4 switch and I'm looking to complete it in box but I don't know all the documentation that came originally with it. Does anyone here have a CIB unit that can tell me exactly whats supposed to go inside it. It would be appreciated. I posted a few pictures of what I have so far. The owners manual seems to be as photocopy. Thanks

Hi. I have a question related to compatabilty and modification of an Atari 5200. I know it is recommended that you purchase a 2 port system since the 4 port ones run power and rf through a proprietary prone-to-breaking switch box that is hard to replace. However, if I purchase a system I will be getting it s video modded. Does anyone know if the modification bypasses this switchbox (I know there is a power jack mod too), which would negate any issues and actually make the 4 port a superior option? Thanks

I got a 4 switch atari that works perfectly fine but not so much for the rf cable so time for it to go. the atari has little space from the rf port to the top shell so I keep looking around I can't find a cord that will fit. Anyone got any recommendations

I have just got a 4 switch woody and I am having an issue were cartridges are hard to get working on the system (takes a lot of removing and replacing to get video), the picture is snowy, and half the sprites on screen don't show up at all (for example in missile command only the left half of the bases show up and the missile explosion doesn't show up at all, and for crystal castles the title screen has missing portions and the enemies don't show up.). Any response would be appreciated thanks.

Greetings. I own a small number of Atari 2600 consoles, most of which in working order to some degree. I have one that is in need of repair (more on that in a bit), and while I could take/send it to someone who fixes consoles I thought I'd inquire here first just in case there's anyone as eccentric as I am who'd like to do a "special" job. I'll pay of course, PM me and we can work it out. The Repair: The on/off switch is a bit gummy and it doesn't click, so I suspect this is the source of the problem. The console "turns on" and is able to output video and audio but it seems like the power switch has no effect on what power state the console is in. This results in the system being unstable and flickering, etc. I do not have a comprehensive background in console repair and modding, but my best guess is that a new set of switches is all it needs. The "Special" Job: Go nuts with it. Literally. I want you to do whatever crazy things you've wanted to try on an Atari but haven't to this console. Make it light up. Paint it blinding neon green and pink. Put two cartridge slots on it. Put a spring-loaded eject button on the cartridge slot. Put extra switches on there that mess with the video output or glitch the game. Make it say Macho Man quotes when you turn it on. That's not an exhaustive list, just a point of reference to prove a point that anything goes. Basically, as long as you can restore the console to working order so that it plays games you can do whatever you want to it. Take the Pimp My Ride philosophy, dial it up to 11, and then double it. I host a live gaming show every week and I would love to have something bizarre and unique to show off, especially if you can get the console to do wacky corruption things because then I can bring it out far more often. If you repair consoles and deal in games as a business or hobby I'll also gladly do what I can to send some more business your way every time we use it. Also just a reminder, this isn't a "do it for free and I'll plug you on YouTube" thing, I'll pay you both to fix the console and then to "fit" it. I figure it's worth a shot to post here first before just taking it to someone local, since I know there's tons of unique talents all congregated here. I got a 4 switch Atari with no vent/speaker holes and a light sixer bottom with the sticker covering the unused holes. Does anyone know anything about my Atari?
