From the album: My Collection
These four consoles are by far the cheapest to buy and easiest to collect for. If you want to collect for Studio II, Astrocade, Channel F, Arcadia 2001 (Why are there so many of these?), APF-MP1000, Creativision, Adventure Vision, 5200(?), or vectrex (Sadly) you are a bit crazy perhaps. I'm looking at the Wikipedia page for second generation consoles... Why are there so many?!? No wonder the market crashed There were like... 18 different consoles worldwide... and that's just silly.-

EDIT: Deal Made for an Ody 2 with Games and also a 'The Voice' unit! Thanks guys. Masschamber, I will still get back to you tomorrow, but like. No big deal if you sell a small lot of Ody2 games overnight or something. X3.

Well, my last thread about pondering a Fairchild Channel F has become interesting. So now I have to ask about that other famous console that seems to be a bit of a throw-back when compared to the 2600. The Magnavox Odyssey 2! What is the general opinion of this console here? I have two working units. One earlier with the hard-wired controllers and one later with the removable controllers and both have worked fairly well for me. My only issues have been the controllers, which can sometimes puncture through the film inside and make the fire button quit working. That said, my 'hard-wired' O2 console is currently using a controller I found in a basement that had been flooded and I only tried out of desperation. Despite looking ugly, it is the best working O2 controller I have ever had! Wierd.. Only other issue I have is I NEED a better power supply and one that can power the Voice Module if I find where I put it again. Anyways, when I get in an O2 mood, I actually enjoy it, in spite of its crudeness compared to the 2600 at times. I still wish I had gotten to the old TV shop in down in time to have rescued that O2 store display they junked out.

Just like to post here that the Odyssey 2 High Score Club is going on in the Odyssey 2 Subforum. Currently we're on the 2nd round, with Thunderball! Here's the link to anyone who's interested: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/270577-odyssey-2-hsc-round-2-season-1/

Most other communities already have a High Score Club, but the Odyssey 2 doesn't. There was a short lived high score thread a while ago, but talk has always been there about starting a HSC. What's the current thoughts on the matter?

I was wondering if anyone on here owned every single Magnavox Odyssey 2 game? If so do you happen to have a list of all the games? It was my very first console that got me into video games/collecting and I'm currently in the process of buying all the games available for it. I think it would be neat as a collector to own at least one console with all the games and Odyssey 2 games are fairly cheap.

Starting to buy some of the clear plastic hard cases for the few boxed games I have outside of the Odyssey games and will finally shell out the money to get a big shipment of the ones that fit these the best. I think the Sega Gen/MS/32x protective cases fit these best but I cannot find the messages I sent to a seller on eBay earlier this year. Anyone know for sure? The 2600 cases fit Demon Attack and Atlantis great( only have Demon Attack). Anyone have a CIB Atlantis they want to send my way? Has anyone found anything that fits Conquest of the World, Quest for the Rings, and The Great Wall Street Fortune Hunt game boxes in it that doesn't look bad( too much open space)?

So, I've been looking through the forums to see if anyone has had the same issue as I have, but I haven't been able to find anything. Last week, I purchased an O2 that looked to be in really good condition. I turned the console on and was able to get to the "Select Game" screen, but couldn't get past it. I tried different carts and it seemed that pressing a number to choose the game did nothing. I figured something might be wrong with the keyboard, so I decided to buy another O2, but it seems to have the same issue. Has anybody had this problem before, and if so, is there any way to fix it? I really don't want to have to look for a third O2 and would like to fix these if possible.

I have decided to attempt the G7400 RGB Mod as described here. I have purchased all the required components on the parts list. Everything seems pretty straight forward except for one thing. A BC547B transistor is to go into 684 location on the PCB. See figure below. My question is how to orient the transistor (i.e. where to put the emitter-base-collector)? Can anyone help? This is the only thing I am hung up on at the moment.

I hope someone out there can help me with a question about general electronics and, in particular, the Videopac G7400 power supply. I live in the US and I recently imported a G7400 Videopac from Europe. I originally was going to get a voltage converter, but I was reading the import guide at this website and on step 3 there is mention of swapping the original power supply with a regulated 12V/5V US power supply. I am perfectly comfortable with the actual replacement, but I don't have the technical knowledge about electronics to ensure that I won't do anything really stupid and install an incompatible PSU. So my question is: Can someone give me some info or a link to a regulated 12V/5V US power supply that would be safe to use? Thanks!

Won an as is lot with system, voice, and 8 games. Really only wanted it for the Voice and was hoping the system was working but alas it has a bad motherboard. The Voice works perfectly. Know I have one for my G7400 whenever I get around to buying one. Have the following games available. All are CIB but the boxes are in rough shape as Odyssey boxes tend to get in. All are tested and working: Alpine Skiing Alien Invaders Plus Math-Magic Echo Cosmic Conflict Blockout Breakdown! KC's Krazy Chase Speedway Spinout Cryptologic Pick Axe Pete I'll give it a little time to see if anyone wants them before I send them to the home brew developers. Selling as a lot only $15 plus shipping. If you want pictures message me your email address as I find it much easier to email them as opposed to posting them on the forum.

I've recently experienced an issue with my Magnavox Odyssey 2's controllers doing all sorts of odd things. It seems to be different every time I turn on the console. The first time, the first controller didn't seem to have a neutral position. When the stick was centered, it went right. Everything else was fine, though. The next time, both controllers were mixed up. The center was right, the left was centered, up and left was left, and everything else was fine. I have little to no experience repairing things, but I really don't feel like going and getting a new console, so I'm asking for help here. Any help would be appreciated. Also, below is a picture of the controllers taken apart. ~Tevvy/TevvTevv5000/TheKidsFoundTheGuillotine/whatever-other-names-I-go-by

Anyone here know of a good place to pick up Odyssey 2 hombrews that are actually on cartridges? I saw some on "Epay" (As BurritoBeans would call it) for an insane price. Real insane like over $100 insane. I wouldn't even but a console at $100 let alone a game. I feel like it is actually a challenge to find homebrews for the Odyssey 2. If this issue persists, I'll be in the market for a Multicart. I hate the Ebay issues. It is an endless cycle. People look up the price of the game then think they can get more $$$ so they post it for more. Then another person sees that post and has the same idea. It is a shame. Please comment below if you know a safe and secure website!

After converting the output of my Odyssey 2 to composite, I have been playing it much more lately. I also have "The Voice" accessory and im just getting annoyed with the fact that the sound comes from the speaker on the unit and not from the TV. I was toying with the idea of hooking up the red/white RCA output jacks to the back of the voice unit and tie them in with the already existing red/white output on the console itself. I have a fair amount of knowledge when it comes to electronics, but I was just wondering if anyone knows what would happen if you hook up 2 audio outputs into one audio input? Would they both play through the TV speakers together without issue? (ive attached a crude diagram for reference) Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Awhile ago I purchased an Odyssey 2 to add to my collection. I knew it didn't work when I tested it ,but it powered up to some lines and jumbled up letters. I immediately thought "Why not?" Being a "Genius" with other cartridge games i immediately bought it figuring that it needed cleaning. After a thorough cleaning of the carts and games I plugged the system back, shoved in a cartridge, and hit the on button. Waiting for my moment of triumph I was puzzled why my work didn't pay off. After an hour of going over the system and re-seating any chips, I found the problem. Checking the Capacitors was one of the last things to cross my mind, yet it should have been a priority. 2 of the 4 electrolytic caps were bad. 4 new Caps later another system had been saved from the trash.

Odyssey 2 family, I am wondering and hoping someone has a few or a bunch of Videopac flip cases they are willing part with that is located in the US. I am currently trying to catch up on homebrews and want to knock a little bit off the cost of shipping from overseas which is where the majority of them will be coming from. Thanks for any help or advice.

I live in the US and I recently bought a G7400 VideoPac from Europe. Can anyone comment on whether it would be possible to swap an internal power transformer in an odyssey 2 with the transformer in the G7400 to get the correct voltage to the system? It seems like a reasonable alternative to buying a step down converter, but I don't have the technical background to know for sure. Suggestions or comments? Thanks
