  1. Hi guys! Waiting for something better I've re-done (or rather re-covered) one demo music from Raster Music Tracker for Atari 8 bit. Attached .lnx and .lyx files, .ogg file recorded from mednafen and even its source in Chipper (set program to 480Hz to play this one properly). Enjoy! 🤠 freedom.zip
  2. A MIDIMate interface for the Atari 8bit computers. Plugs into the SIO port. Works with MIDI Music System 1.0 and MIDI track III. Includes two 1/4 " to RCA adapers for the Sync In and Out ports. Includes original disk and manual for MIDI Music System software. It also can convert AMS music to MIDI format that is uses. (.MUS file extension.) Includes a CD of the entire archive of the 3000 public domain MIDI files that can be played with this interface from the Action Annex BBS. I was co-sysop for a few years back in the day. This was the very same interface Donna used to make audio tapes and test her composition. How's that for maximum compatibility? Since all the MIDI Max interfaces are sold out at Best Electronics, this may very well be one of the last few times you will ever find a vintage equivalent interface like this. Until someone remakes the interface for the 1088xl or finishes the reverse engineering of an equivalent. SOLD!
  3. Hi, the demo group Flush did the "impossible" thing and released a 32k music cartridge featuring 32 tracks (about an hour of music!) for the Atari 2600: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=71561 (Joystich left/right changes the track, up/down the presentation) Who would have thought someone would actually do something like this for the TIA?!? <3
  4. Here's my small entry for 256 intro compo at Sillyventure 2k16 party. It is... a music. Enjoy! (sources included) miker MUSIC256F.ZIP
  5. Since I've been experimenting with RMT (and loving it), it's time to peel away the onion and get deeper into the tracking / chiptune thing. I've always been a "sound" guy - I play music, own synths, etc and often thought POKEY could be flexed more than it was (and we see this is now true). Just downloaded MPT, which I believe allows native A8 track development. I also wanted to play around with NeoTracker, but I can't seem to find it. Does NeoTracker run natively on the A8 / XL / XE platforms? Would like to give it a try - any help is appreciated!
  6. OK, trying my hand at something written after 1860. I got the basic music pretty much pitch/octave accurate. Maybe someone on this forum could put in the bass line or make chords with the remaining 2 voices? I am actually supposed to be coding something else not related to songs. 8. I have written a program which converts MIDI files into MUSIC lines which can be used in an IntyBASIC program. Depending on the number of voices in the MIDI file, it can generate code either for the Intellivision alone, or for the Intellivision with ECS. MIDI Program Change messages can be used to select among the four instruments that IntyBASIC supports. I have also attempted to support drums (on MIDI Channel 10). The source code and README are available on GitHub: https://github.com/ppelleti/inty-midi Binaries for Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows are available on the "Releases" tab on GitHub, but I've also attached the binaries to this message. inty-midi-0.1.0.0-bin.zip
  9. Hi guys ! Anybody knows how to stop RMT music play but keep sfx playing ? I've tried stopping music, disabling irq (that calls music play), but I either get music+sfx or nothing... I would like to turn of music so it doesn't waste cpu time, but keep possibility of playing sfx when needed. Any help appreciated ! Vladimir
  10. Hi, just started working with the lynx and I am going through the tutorials at https://atarilynxdeveloper.wordpress.com/(LX.NET I believe) . Awesome set of tutorials, I already have a spaceship with some stars zooming past on the screen. Plus plenty of head scratching on how I can get my program to work on my flash card, another thread for another day maybe. I am trying to work out various pieces of a small "game" and I am currently stuck at sound. I noticed in the lynx.h header file that there are functions available for sound support, but I haven't been able to find much about them other than they exist. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to point me to an example (did a quick search on the forum and didn't spot anything myself...), or maybe build an example for me. Here is my process so far. I used Chipper 2.0 to make a quick tune and exported it with the /For BLL Driver>Export CC65 "remake"> option (I realize this may be my problem because it is under the "for BLL Driver category" and that the resulting .asm file is not formatted to work with cc65 library out of the box. Would like to verify this.) I then modify the labels int he .asm file for the name of the file, adding underscores to make them accessible to me in my C code. (Another clue that I am doing this completely wrong. You can tell I am new at this right? ). I then assemble the .asm file with ca665 and link it with the rest of my object files. In my C code I initialize the sound with lynx_snd_init(); I attempt to play the sound with lynx_snd_play ( Channel0 , &music); I included some defines at the top of my C file for the channels (Again, this doesn't feel like the appropriate way of doing this). I got these defines from another thread #define Channel0 (char *)0xfd20 #define Channel1 (char *)0xfd28 #define Channel2 (char *)0xfd30 #define Channel3 (char *)0xfd38 I included my source files. I am currently working in Linux environment. Thanks again for any help you can give a fledgling Lynx developer. 2-14-16_AA_sound_help.zip
  11. This has to do with my MULE project but I thought this question was more general and could be of use to everyone. Is there a way, or utility, to convert a .wav file or other sound file to a TI music file? I want to know before I try to recreate the music in MULE by ear. I can do it, and I have a friend who is a musician who can help but that will be a bit of work.
  12. hey guys , i have a mssiah synthcart from 8-bit ventures for my c-64 and i was wondering if there exists anywhere a synthcart for the atari 8-bit machines to access the pokey chip in a similar way as mssiah. i have looked every where and even asked 8-bit ventures if they would do one and they said they had no intentions of making one . if one does'nt exist, is there anyone that knows basic well enough to make something like this ? could put the program on a flashcart maybe ? and modify the computer with midi? Also does anyone do midi modifications to the 800xl ? i just really want to be able to control the pokey chip through my daw and midi sequence it like i do with my c64. i love the way the pokey sounds , probably even over the SID. any good direction on this would be awesome . please help i have been trying for well over a year for a solution . thanks alot

  14. A new song that might make a good background track to a platformer-style game. I try to make the thing loopable but long enough so that it does not get repetitive too quickly, at the expense of memory use. As with all of these rough song posts, please feel free to use the source code anytime in anything you make for the Intellivision, I am not doing this for the money/fame. Enjoy. PlatformerCourse2.rom
  15. I have no idea how to do this so if anybody can help me, that would be great. I made a title screen for my game and have shooting sounds but can anybody help me with some title screen music? I want to have sounds on my 1st playfield (title screen) but not in my 2nd playfield (main game). If anybody can help that would be great. If anybody can slightly modify my code (I will attach) with the music on the title screen, that would be the best. My game is just a Five Nights at Freddy's game. I will attach my current code and my .bas file of the music. Thank you very much! Five Nights at Freddy's.bas music.bas
  16. Hi, recently I started composing original Atari 800XL music. I would like to do more, but I would love if it could be used for something real. Is there any team needing 8bit music and SFX design? If yes, I'd love helping out. My references: http://soundcloud.com/adam_sporka/sets/ready-atari-800xl/ Cheers, Adam
