I got my first-ever TI-99/4A last fall and have been enjoying it immensely. That said, since I have it in use all the time, I don't have any need for the AWESOME travel case that it came in. I have no idea of the history of this item, other than that the foam cutouts are clearly made for the TI-99/4A and its components. Here are some pics. Since it appears to be a unique item, I have no idea what to ask for it, so let's give "best offer" a try and go from there. Any q's and to make an offer, please shoot me a PM. Please note that these pictures are for display purposes only and you would only be purchasing the case itself with the padding - no TI-99/4A computer or accessories. Thanks!

SOLD: Texas Instruments TI-99/4A Computer Bundle
sixersfan105 posted a topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Here we have a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A Home Computer Bundle. The computer has been lightly cleaned and fully tested and works great! Don't roll the dice on an untested unit when you can purchase this fantastic starter bundle with confidence! Includes everything you need to get your retro gaming on as soon as the package arrives at your doorstep. Here's everything you get: TI-99/4A Computer (original black/silver model; 1983 production date) TI Speech Synthesizer TI Power Supply TI RF Modulator (even includes a push-on F-type balun for more modern TVs) TI Dual Joysticks Original Box with Styrofoam Insert Five (5) Complete in Box Games: Parsec, Munch Man, Tombstone City: 21st Century, Car Wars and Zero Zap - all tested Several Manuals/Reference Guides: User's Reference Guide w/Addendum, Beginner's BASIC, Read This First w/Addendum, BASIC Reference Card, Wired Remote Controllers and Video Modulator manuals, TI-99/4A Owner/User Information Card,TexNet Information Services pamphlet and TI Computer Advantage Club flyer During testing, one joystick worked as it should and the other only worked in the "left" and "down" directions. Considering the stock joysticks aren't very good, anyway, it is recommended that you purchase an Atari joystick adapter and use your favorite Atari-compatible joysticks instead. While the RF modulator works, it is recommended that you upgrade to a composite AV cable. Such cables are pretty inexpensive and readily available. As evidenced by the close-up picture, the cord of the modulator that plugs into the computer is starting to fray a bit. The keyboard strip, while present, is just sitting in position, as a strip holder is not affixed to this computer. The computer box has seen better days but still holds its shape fairly well. As seen in one of the pictures, a prior owner cut out the bottom end of each of the five game boxes, most likely for easy access. "Zero Zap" is handwritten on the side of the Zero Zap box; "Hangman" is handwritten on the side of the Tombstone City box. While several minor flaws have been identified, please see pictures for exact condition of all items. Asking $110 plus shipping OBO. Will ship in a carefully packed box via USPS Priority Mail. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see additional pictures. ***Cross-posted on eBay*** -

Many of us here on Atari Age have P-Box's. Many of us also have RS-232 cards, but what about users without RS-232 cards or HxC's? How are they going to get new software to their disk drives? RS-232's are starting to get rare and more expensive, all while the TI user base is continually growing, so what about an alternative method? I'm wondering if at some point in the future a "virtual diskette" could be made on the PC, similar to the method used to make them for the NanoPEB or CF7? Sure, this disk would probably be 'read only' and considering the way the FG99 operates, this disk would probably operate like an executable program that would transfer its contents to the users disk drive. The new FinalGROM 99 is 512K, factoring the embedded programs overhead it should still be able to transfer a decent amount of data to users drives. Fact is, for most users 360K is max, so this could do a whole disk at one time for most people.

Here's a little device I bought on ebay. Got it out of curiosity really. Costed me 40 EUR including shipping in Germany. It's a centronics interface that plugs into the sideport. Basically what interested me most is what DSR is included. Appears to have costed 299 german mark back then. That is according to the "Kaufhof" label that is still on the original box. Probably boils down to 300 EUR nowadays. I scanned the device using my own DSR scan program, but nothing shows up. So either the device is broken or it needs power from an external source (the centronics interface?) Anyone else seen such a device before? At least it's new to me. Centronics would be matrix printer style right?

This is a more targeted continuation of the blatantly hijacked thread <here>. Executive Summary of this go-forward: The NanoPEB being periodically peddled on eBay is a wonderful little device, providing 3 virtual disk drives which map to a Compact Flash card, a 32K RAM expansion, and an RS232 serial port. Unfortunately, the serial port was set up in such a way that virtually all existing Terminal Emulation software packages take one look at that serial port, and promptly throw their dish on the floor. The technical details of that I leave to vaster minds than mine to explain. Meanwhile, I have slapped together what I think is a toy many of us would like to have and use, a WiFi modem that is RS232 compatible and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. The prototype has been proven with several IBM-ish 8088 machines, and I have been surfing Telnet BBS's with it. I would like to test and use it with my TI-99/4A plus NanoPEB, but the terminal software always stops me, since none of them like my serial port. My current quest is to find, make, beg, borrow, steal or barter a package into working with the NanoPEB. The ultimate goal is to publish details of this very simple modem, so that others in this community can make their own for less than $10 and a few minutes work, and go BBS surfing using their household WiFi, Telnet, and a T-99/4A with either an "original" serial port or a NanoPeb. I'll explain how once it's tested, as I don't want folks clamoring to build one only to find that it doesn't work in this plane of existence. The modem itself works in another environment, but I'm a firm believer in end-to-end systems testing. Besides, I have a NanoPEB, so I'm greedy and want it to work with my TI-99/4A. So that's the lay of the land. In our last episode (thread) InsaneMultitasker had generously thrown me a software package thinking it might work. I'm sorry to report that it doesn't. It runs well up until the moment any byte is actually sent down the line, then it crashes. (Cursor stops blinking, and no keys respond.) To be thorough I connected a null modem cable between the NanoPeb and the modem, (they normally dock directly), but the behavior was the same. The quest continues,...

Hello. I have the following games for sale for the TI-99/4A: Donkey Kong (cartridge only, has a rattling inside that we can't figure out how to fix, but the cartridge works fine) Pole Position (boxed w/manual) Centipede (boxed w/manual) Jungle Hunt (boxed w/manual) Defender (boxed w/manual) I can sell the DK game for around $8, the rest can go for $20 each. Also have the following, that I'm willing to sell (prices will follow each item): Merlin: The 10th Quest (in box, $25) Spyro 3 PS1 game Greatest Hits (sticker on cd, $15) If interested, give me a message with your zip code, so I can calculate shipping. I can only ship to continental US buyers. Thanks. EDIT: All TI games are sold. Spyro 3 and Merlin: The 10th Quest are still available.

Fest 99/4ATX will be Friday-Sunday Aug 9-11, 2019 in Austin, TX. UPDATE: please use this Google Form to register yourself. We need to know how many folks want food! All are welcome. The main activity will be sharing what we know about the TI-99/4A computer, demonstrating projects and new products, and so on. Fixing broken 4As, soldering kits, and programming are all likely to happen. It really depends on what you want to do! The venue will be an air-conditioned classroom, with tables, whiteboard, and two large screens, at ATX Hackerspace on 9700 Dessau Rd. There is a lounge/kitchen/eating area. (There will be guided tours of members-only areas like electronics lab, laser cutter and 3D printing.) If anyone wants to do a presentation/stream, you would write that on the Google sheets schedule. Outside of the agenda, we will share about things TI, much like Chi-Friday. Set up your gear, gather in small groups, share, learn, fix things. The only charge will be $10 for official registration, which includes a raffle ticket, badge, snacks and drinks. Otherwise it is open for casual observers (I would expect others from the hackerspace and the local C-64 group.) For Saturday food, we are putting together a group order for Cheko's breakfast tacos (a few dollars) and County Line BBQ ($15 each person). Details: Venue: ATX Hackerspace on 9700 Dessau Rd. Has air conditioned classroom, a lounge/kitchen, and wi-fi. Guided tours of electronics/laser/shop/3D printing. Format: BarCamp style. Attendees can announce a presentation in the classroom, otherwise free form. Security: we can put gear in a locked room overnight. The building is keyed entry. The classroom has doors but does not lock. Hardware: I can provide stock P-Boxes, 4A consoles, monitors so you can travel lighter. Electronics lab available. Lodging: Super 8 near ATXHS is as low as $58. Marriot $118. There are a lot of options. Food: Saturday: Breakfast Tacos. Lunch: barbecue delivery. Dinner: trip to Chuy's (Tex-Mex.) Live Streaming: Use Zoom to join for video/audio chat. https://zoom.us/j/7707370625 See and Edit the Agenda so far here: Agenda in Google Docs Zoom Channel for the event (install Zoom on your phone or computer) https://zoom.us/j/7707370625

Hello everyone! Looking for a TI-99/4A speech module. I just purchased a beige 4A CIB and Parsec and would really like to add speech. I know they're on eBay but I trust AA members and know we have the best quality here. CIB or loose is fine as long as it works. I can pay PayPal right away and live in SC. Thanks! Blaine

Fest West is only four months away.... Yeah, it's kind early to start thinking about it, but this reminder is just to light a fire under you guys who are actively working on software or hardware projects that will want to unveil them in time for the big meeting. Attendees might want to follow this thread to be informed of any changes as they occur.

I recently designed a replacement for the power switch for the TI-99/4A. And thought I would give it to the community. I have hosted it on Thingiverse here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3697972 But I have also attached a photo. It's not perfect, but good enough compared to jamming something in the hole to turn on/off the computer.

As an experiment, I decided to whip up a port of the "Graphics Match" game from the TI-99/4A User's Reference Guide in JavaScript, using the p5.js JavaScript library. Here's what I came up with: https://zacharyfruhling.github.io/GraphicsMatch/ Enjoy! Zachary Fruhling

Less than 24 hours left on this very complete TI-99/4a system which includes the PEB, disk drive, and 32K memory expansion card, and RS232: https://www.ebay.com/itm/TI-99-4A-Computer-Peripheral-Expansion-Box-Cards-Utility-Cartridges-Disk-Speech/283482581241?hash=item4200e0e8f9:g:poYAAOSwMHxc2FiE Editor Assembler and PCode (Pascal) Hardware and Software Bundle. You'll probably never see these two items ever listed together again, for a low starting bid of $59 with no reserve. https://www.ebay.com/itm/TI-99-4a-Editor-Assembler-PCode-Card-Bundle/283488949280?hash=item4201421420:g:0qEAAOSw29Rc4AYe

Please consider placing a bid for a TI-99/4a computer system including everything you need to get started in the world of vintage TI gaming, programming and general use. Some people know that TI experimented with porting its best-known games to Intellivision. Well, much later, Namco planned to roll up the market for retro-gaming by producing software for the TI-99/4A. A Namco intern told their boss to build on the nostalgia for "Munk-Man" and this is what happened. I found the binary on an MSX forum earlier this year: (k2.dsk or download here) contains a single E/A 3 object file "K2" without Namco markings. The program name is K2. Does anyone have, or remember, the game Peter Cottontail's Egg Hunt for the TI-99/4A? That seems to be my boyfriend's favorite game, since he talks a lot about it in regard to the computer.

I don't recall who mentioned it to me at Fest West, but one guy was telling me how he wished Flying Shark could save it's high scores to a place like myti99.net. I thought that was a BRILLIANT idea, but wonder how many software authors would want to make additions or alterations to their works of art, but it had me wondering about some of those 'older games' that source code still exists for. I figure any modified program(s) would remain in E/A 5 format so they could reside on the TIPI/RPi's SD card since it would have to be on a TIPI enabled system for the WiFi access to save and load the high score table anyway. It might give some old games new life when a little competitive rivalry is going on. I don't know how long high scores would remain, but from the server side I bet they could be reset every month or two. Even one program for experimental purposes would be interesting, although I have no clue which game would be most suitable as a trial.
