ENTER THE FANTASTIC WORLD OF THE DARK TOWER! Helmut (hcmffm) and Nico (Nic Lobo aka pucpcuc) from Germany would like to honour a Vectrex game that was not released back in the 1980s: DARK TOWER. It's a pity that this great and unique action roleplaying game had no full physical release with box and overlay. We are going to change that! The goal is to make the finished product look and feel as if it was teleported here from the Eighties. PLEASE DO NOT ask to "put me on the list" because there is no list, yet. We will post here once the Dark Tower reproduction is near completion and ordering is possible. Cartridge numbers will be assigned randomly anyhow and not on a first come first served basis. Only one cartridge number is reserved already, that's Dark Tower #1 for John Hall, the original developer of the game. John wished us the best for the project (how cool is that?!). Production of a sufficient quality box and overlay will be challenging , and the final assembly and shipping will be a lot of work. But it's not just the two of us - Mat (Mayhem), Tony (50tbrd), and likely some more Vectrex enthusiasts will help us realise this project. Stay tuned! The picture shows a prototype which looks better on a photo, than in reality - just to give an idea where we are aiming to. I recently rescued a Vectrex from a crumbling abandoned building. After i had replaced the cord, i figured out it does not work. There is no sound but the normal humming. Does anyone know if i could repair this?

Hi It may be a long shot but I'm hoping someone will sell and/or trade me a PSX or PS2 to Vectrex adapter/converter. These were supposed to be made again, but so far, nothing has come to light and while I'd like to make my own, I've not seen any plans out there. I'd really like to play Robot Arena on the Vectrex with twin analog (or digital) sticks, so using this adapter would be the way to go. If anyone has one to part with or even knows how to build a twin stick controller of any sort, please contact me. Thanks!

Howdy, I'd like to build a dual joystick Vectrex controller.. I'm just not exactly sure how to do it. I assume the 2nd stick is tied to the buttons, mainly button #4, the fire button somehow. Are there any plans out there to construct one? I've come to find that this is about the only way to go if you're going to properly play Robot Arena. A PS2/Vectrex adapter would be the most ideal, cheapest solution, but those seem impossible to come by and the Instructable I saw wasn't the clearest. http://www.instructables.com/id/Modify-PSX-Controller-for-Vectrex-Games-Console/ (pic to show what I'm going for). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

(not mine) Vectrex "MiniVex II" controller, with Rapid Fire, twin analog joysticks Brand-new, twin joystick controller for Vectrex! It's got a tough, all-metal case. Size is about 3/4 of the factory unit, see photo 4. The two joysticks are analog, like the factory controller. The left and right cables correspond to the left and right joysticks, and a toggle switch on the back selects the left or right cable for button inputs, so you can use the buttons with EITHER joystick, when only one cable is plugged in, or you can plug in both cables and use BOTH joysticks at once! (The toggle switch prevents overlapping button inputs.) Thus this controller is compatible with Robot Arena, and (hopefully) the upcoming Stramash Zone. Now, if those homebrew designers would only grace us with Crazy Vector Climber, and Vectrex Widow, and Cloak & Vector... The buttons on this controller are smaller and stiffer than the factory controller, but there's a remedy for that...button #4, most often used for firing, has a rapid fire feature. Just hold it down and bangbangbang! The other toggle switch on the back selects rapid or normal fire, and with the rotary pot you can adjust the firing speed to YOUR liking. This controller is not cosmetically perfect...I make them by hand, so they're not going to be perfect. Please see my other auction for a simpler, single joystick version of this controller. I'll guarantee this controller for 30 days from the day you receive it. If it fails within that time, I'll repair it at no charge. I don't know how much crossover there is between this forum and the vectrex area at proboards - in case there are homebrew programmers here who aren't aware of it - I've (re)started a project to write a Tailgunner lookalike which I started about 15 years ago and then shelved. This time I am determined to finish it and have got a lot farther than I did before - WIP can be seen at http://gtoal.com/vectrex/tailgunner/main.bin- I've been building it piece by piece and am now getting to the hard bit - the ships. I may have to cut a couple of corners but from experiments so far I think it should look enough like the original to evoke some of the same feeling when playing it. Anyway... I am coding this in public view - a recent (if not up to the hour) source will always be posted in http://gtoal.com/vectrex/tailgunner/main.c.html(or http://gtoal.com/vectrex/tailgunner/main.c ) and suggestions and collaborations are (extremely) welcome. Even criticisms :-) (Very thick skinned, I won't take offence. However some limitations I do already know about and were either expedient to get something started or are shortcuts to avoid computational overheads) I know people have wanted Tailgunner on the Vectrex for a long time, so if you're one of them and a programmer, feel free to contribute. This will be open source and free in all senses. I've set myself an informal deadline of Christmas (this year ) and one of the reasons I'm working on this in public view is so that there's pressure on me to finish it this time :-) Graham
