  1. I'm trying to focus on my Nintendo Wii collection for a while, so I'm wondering what people consider the best games on the platform. Personally, these are the games I have: Super Mario Galaxy Super Mario Galaxy 2 Mario Kart Wii Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Wii Sports PES 2011 New Super Mario Bros. Wii The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (I'm actually waiting for this one to arrive in the mail.) Also, I'm desperately trying to find the following games: Xenoblade Chronicles Metroid Prime Trilogy The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Wii Sports Resort Monster Hunter Tri The Last Story Punch-Out!!! But I know there are a ton of Wii games I'm not even considering that might be a lot of fun to play either alone or with friends and family. What about games like Wii Party or Wii Play? Are there any good light gun games on the system that I'm not considering? What games make great use of the WiiMote? What games make great use of the controller's microphone (I watched a video about a horror game that made creepy noises when there were dangerous creatures around, it was called something like "The Calling", I think)? Thanks!
  2. The holidays are fast approaching and I know I'm going to hang out with family members that enjoy gaming as much as I do. One of my favorite consoles to take to those gatherings is my Nintendo WIi since it doesn't take that much space and it isn't really heavy in case I have to walk. I'm trying to track down some games that are fun to play with other people and most of the lists mention the same titles, thing is I really want to hear other people's opinions instead of reading a list from IGN or GamesRadar. So far, I have New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and I'm really interested in getting Mario Kart Wii. Other than that, which do you think are the best Wii games to play with other people? I'd really appreciate it if anyone can recommend more obscure games that most lists regret to mention. Thanks for your help!
  3. I recently came across a post on Facebook of someone selling her Nintendo Wii with a bunch of controllers and games for pretty cheap. The only thing is, both the console and the games are PAL instead of NTSC. My idea was to purchase that lot and get rid of the Wii, since I already have a 25th anniversary Mario one that I absolutely love. So taking into account that softmodding the Wii is extremely easy, I was wondering if it's possible to install something to play both the PAL and NTSC games just by inserting discs from either region.
  4. I decided to start this thread to try and get a better idea of what the reliability of the original Wii's disc drive is going to be like over the longterm by asking you, my fellow AtariAgers who currently own or have previously owned an original Wii, if you've ever had the disc drive in yours fail and stop reading discs? This subject has been on my mind quite a bit lately since the original Wii that I got at launch just had it's disc drive fail a couple weeks ago. It didn't seem like too big of a big deal at the time, since all mechanical devices will break down eventually and I felt like 12 years was a pretty good run for slot loading disc dive that got used on a nearly daily basis. I just ordered a replacement refurbished Wii disc drive online, installed it in 20 minutes or so, and it was good to go again... until 3 days later when the replacement disc drive failed. So I suppose what I'm trying to figure out at the moment is if I'm just having a temporary run of bad luck or if Wii disc drive failures are going to be a common and frequent enough occurrence that I might want to reconsider collecting for this system. The Wii has been the main system I've been collecting for over the past year or so and I've amassed a pretty substantial library of 65 games for it, but I really don't want to have to deal with frequent hardware repairs and am starting to wonder if I might be better off focusing my collecting efforts on cartridge based systems without moving parts due to recent events. So what do you guys and gals think? Have you had the disc drive in your Wii fail before and do you think this is going to be a regular occurrence, or am I just having a run of bad luck?
  5. Hello everyone: I am going to revive an old topic, emulating the Atari 8 Bit and Atari ST on the Nintendo Wii. I just picked up a Nintendo Wii, homebrewed it, and put on 5 Atari Emulators. I will post a few pictures here of what I have manaaged to get running after I fix the Hatari 0.005 on the Wii memeory card. I am using version 4.3U which allows me to use up to 128 Gig SD and USB sticks, have filled both up with games , the Atari 8 Bit games are a bit slow loading as I have over 2000 games on it, maybe I need to reformat the SD card into 4 32 Gig partitians IF the Will will support this. My Ultra Satan is using a super fast 16 GB SD card so I don't want to use it. Is anyone here interested in the Homebrew Installation process, as Nintendo no longer supports buying of games online and I must stress that IF I post a tutorial then its to be only for playing Atari emulators on the Wii. Anyone interested in this? I have looked everything up and there might be interest plus I know the best guides now. You can emulate the 2600, 5200, 8 Bit, 7800, and the Atari ST , Jaguar I am not sure about probably not although I have all of the roms that were ever made for these systems, and many more. My Mega Site is appoaching 225 Gigs of all good stuff, if needed I will post a link to it, just about every game that is missing here can be found on my site, I have been maintaining it for over 6 years at 1 TB of space and adding to it every month. Let me know if there is any interest here wth that too. Well back to my Wii Atari testing , pictures of games running on it are coming tonight. Sleep ???? You ask me ??? Whats that ???? Too busy with my Atari collection, oh ya I have a source of an Atari Portfolio ready in 14 days , the store has to hang on to it for 15 days and thnat was yesterday. He has told me its mine, anyone want it, comes with a 64 K card. Please post here if interested. Russ
