  1. I am wondering how many of you have Ultimate 1MB or another 1mb or 4mb upgrade plus stereo pokey sound and fast loading from SD or sio2USB or similar device... I am doing little research. And how many of you will be able to pay 5-10usd/euro for game every half of year. Its good information not only for me but for others too. With 1088xel this will be standard...So lets use XEL word for such games or apps/demos specs... I own: 1x Ultimate 1mb, Raster Stereo, Raster SDrive all in Atari130XE
  2. Hey there guys and gals! I hadn't seen it discussed on here before so I thought I'd point out a neat product I learned about though one of my favorite YouTube tech podcasts: https://youtu.be/X6Z81G8hw8w https://coolnovelties.co.uk/coolnovelties/sega-master-system-1/264-sega-mega-drive-1-genesis-rca-cable-with-stereo-sound.html It seems like a really nice clutter-free way to get stereo sound out of your Model 1 Genesis without a tangled mess of RCA cables, and at $15 shipped to the US it's quite affordable. I went ahead and ordered one and I'll let you folks know what I think of it once it arrives in the mail from the UK in a week or two.
  3. I am about to plug a 32x into my model 1. I often use the headphone jack at night on my genesis model one so as not to wake the house. If I have a 32x plugged in, will I still be able to use the jack (to listen to both 32x and Genesis games plugged into the 32x unit)? Or am I better off getting sound from my TV or receiver via the Genesis 2 av cables? I also noticed that sound from the headphone jack has a reasonable amount of background noise compared to getting it from the receiver (from the same source!-that is to say I plug the headphone jack into the "aux in" on my Sony Surround sound amp. I'm thinking this is because most modern receivers have built in Noise Reduction technology for any analog signals it receives. Has anyone else noticed this? Lastly I have seen cables that connect the headphone jack and genesis to the 32x. Are these necessary? Isn't true stereo for both 32x and Genesis games coming out of the back of the 32x via the Genesis 2 AV cables? Thanks
  4. So this will be a thru-hole based Dual Pokey board that incorporates a U-Switch type function and a Dual PS/2 Keyboard based on the TransKey-II (TK-II) hardware/firmware. It'll be pretty close to the same size as Lotharek's Stereo Board, except all the connectors will be on the lower end of the board close to the original Pokey chip, as opposed to the upper end like on Lotharek's board. This will allow better clearance in an XEGS, where the cartridge port resides. This is fully compatible with the U1MB BIOS Stereo detection and enable/disable via the U1MB /MO port. Here is the tested circuit... All of the parts get soldered in place, thus the need for the ICSP PIC programming port connections on J2. Most all of the components, other than connectors J1-J3 will reside inside the footprint of the two 40 pin Pokey sockets, and need to be of a low profile so as to allow the Pokey chips to be fully seated. This design specification has now been locked in and tested on real hardware. So the next job will be to lay out a PCB, and then have a few sample boards made for final testing. I will not be selling these boards, but just like the other TK-II boards I previously designed, they will be uploaded to OSH Park for purchasing by anyone who is interested. This is a DIY project, but hopefully someone will step up to make boards for those that do not possess the necessary skills to do so. Time line for this project is approximately one month, with boards being available on OSH Park soon after. The PIC MCU firmware is the same as used on the existing TK-II product line, and will also be in-circuit programmable with the JOY2PIC Atari-to-PIC programmer. Latest Firmware Download is available here: ataribits.weebly.com/design This should be a nice addition to the Stereo Board collection - Michael
  5. Hey peeps So I have a 7800 PROsystem AV Modded by Electronicsentimentalities and last night I was playing more or less my whole library of 7800 games. They were all coming out of my stereo speakers as beautiful unique channels. Then I popped in Ballblazer, and my sound was left channel only.. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Is it just Ballblazer, all pokey chips, or perhaps a freak side effect of the AV mod? After Ballblazer I played a few more games, and back to stereo with no issues. ?!? Any input would be appreciated, Thanks.
