I love this game like the most of us here. As a kid I never managed to achieve a playthrough on Hard Mode or higher. So this is my contribution to this Game: As a Masterpiece of a game it deserves a well made and beatifully played speedrun. Here I show Axelay's skills on highest difficulty (Very Hard Mode) which leads to the best ending (never seen before). I hope you like it and share it with your friends. Thanks for watching!

MAME 0.250 November has passed us by, and it’s time for MAME 0.250, with a distinct Konami flavour! On the arcade side, the third and fourth player positions are supported in NBA Play By Play, and lots of regional variants have been added for games running on Hornet hardware. We’ve also added support for a Konami hand-held LCD game, a Tiger LCD game based on a popular Konami franchise, and a prototype of an unreleased Game.com title in the same series. In addition to the Castlevania-themed LCD game, we’ve added licensed Tiger LCD games featuring Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden, Superman and Gargoyles characters, although the latter two are different skins for the same game. MSX computer emulation has had a major overhaul, with more supported systems and peripherals, including lots of cartridge port floppy drives. As a bonus, the Fujitsu FM Towns family gained support for more controllers, including the Marty Pad and the twin-stick Libble Rabble joypad. Hard disk issues affecting the FM Towns family were also tracked down and fixed. Atari 8-bit computer cartridge emulation has been modernised, and a few more unlicensed Game Boy cartridges are supported (you can now play some very famous unauthorised translations in MAME). The Quantel DPB-7000 is looking much better, with lots of progress on video output and peripheral support. Namco’s Alpine Surfer is now playable in MAME, and several graphical glitches that had plagued System 22 emulation have been banished. Support for Italian versions of Quizard has been added, and German versions of Quizard 3 and Quizard 4 Rainbow are now working, as well as a Czech version of Quizard 4 Rainbow. A missing line scroll effect in Seta’s Caliber 50 is now emulated, and some flickering graphics in Atari’s Return of the Jedi have been fixed. Other improvements include lots of fixes for invalid memory accesses, function keys for the Franklin Ace (Apple II clone) computers, proper DIP switch labels for Nintendo Vs. Mahjong, and much, much more. You can read about all the changes this month in the whatsnew.txt, and you can download the source code and 64-bit Windows binary packages from the download page. Here's something that I found yesterday: I have to give kudos to the author for tying the plot of this game to Operation C, Shattered Solider, Legacy of War, and Hard Corps Uprising.

It looks like we entered the area of rare and expensive Atari games which are difficult to collect but that is only true for CommaVid. The other 2 are completed, Konami with 2 restored labels and Epyx with even 3 replaced new labels. Very proud of these... Lot of work!

First, here's some potential 7800 ports that I might make: -Thunder Force (Sharp X1/Fujitsu FM7) -Bad Dudes vs. Dragon Ninja -Darius -Salamander/Life Force -Space Gun (Will have Light gun, Mouse, and Trak-Ball support.) -Marble Madness (Will have Trak-Ball support.) -The Fairyland Story -The Legend of Kage (Possible dual joystick support.) Lynx ports: -Magical Drop -Cadash -Aqua Jack -The NinjaWarriors -The New Zealand Story -Chase H. Q. -Bionic Commando -Gradius 1 & 2 Jaguar: -Xexex -Turrican 1 & 2 -Lemmings (Will have mouse support.) -Osman/Cannon Dancer (with spelling and grammatical fixes.) -Magician Lord -RayForce -Metal Black -Gun Frontier -Ghost Lop -Arabian Magic -Pnickies -The Cliffhanger: Edward Randy (with improved controls, I might add.) Before I go, here's Dark Edge, a sprite-based 3D fighting game from Sega: I hope this gives someone here an idea or two... Update: I also wanted to say that many of these ports can also be done the other systems mentioned. Update 2: Come to think of it, Quadtari, Comlynx, and Team Tap support are also on the plate.

MAME 0.230 Fasten your seatbelts and get ready for MAME 0.230! There are big changes this month, but before we get to that, let’s highlight some of the more routine additions. Several TV games featuring adaptations of popular Hasbro board games are now supported, as well as a couple of VTech systems featuring Dora the Explorer. Several electronic toys and handheld LED game from Mattel and Invicta have been emulated this month. There’s a big update for the Apple II software lists this month, with clean cracks of lots of educational software from MECC. If you’ve been following along with development, you’re no doubt excited about the new Yamaha OPM/OPN (YM2151, YM2203, YM2608, YM2610, YM2610B, YM2612, and YM3438) sound emulation core. This addresses numerous subtle and not-so-subtle issues, particularly in Sega and Data East games. Windy Fairy and Jennifer Taylor have continued to improve MAME’s support for Konami rhythm games, making beatmania IIDX, Beatmania III, Keyboardmania and ParaParaParadise games playable. Thanks to Happy, a couple more graphics issues with the Hyper Neo Geo 64 have been fixed. There’s been a lot of work on the Apple IIgs and 68k Mac drivers this month. As well as the flood of machines promoted to working, Apple 3.5" floppy support has been revolutionised, and improvements to ADB GLU microcontroller simulation make the IIgs control panel usable. On the console side, save EEPROM support has been fixed for several Mega Drive games. Of course that’s not all, and you can read about all the additions, bug fixes, and enhancements in the whatsnew.txt file. You can get the source and 64-bit Windows binary packages from the download page and start playing. Read the rest of this entry »

Don't even get me started on the confusion over the Sparkster sequels - that'll be a whole different episode! For now enjoy Rocket Knight Adventures, a game that in my opinion is an absolute Sega Genesis classic.

This Frogs (Gremlin, 1978) arcade video game shirt may be of interest to some of you. Frogs was developed in the 70s by Gremlin before they were bought by Sega. It has no relation to Frogger, developed by Konami and released by Sega in the states. A few years later, Frog Bog for the Intellivision bore a striking resemblance to Frogs. Shirt is available in tri-blend ($24) and cotton ($20). Once it's out of print in the next couple of weeks, it's done. https://videoarcade.bigcartel.com/product/frogs-shirt

I decided to offer many of my MSX games as 'bundles'. These games were bought during my summer trip to Japan. They are for MSX machines. Down the road, I will be offering MSX machines as reasonable prices as well. I picked these games up as they tend to require to least amount of Japanese language skills necessary to enjoy them. It's good to find somewhere dedicated to Atari and classic games in general - I had no idea this wonderful site existed! Anyway, apologies for the poor pun...and the slightly odd topic, but something pulled me back towards Frogger at the weekend. It been had years - perhaps as many as twenty - since I'd last played the game, but once I started playing, it was very difficult to stop. I was - as anyone who watches the video will see - very very bad at it. But, here's the thing...the design is so good, I really didn't mind having to endlessly retry, and as soon as I have a bit more time - probably the weekend now - I'm going to get back to it. Can anyone guide me as to where to head next? Is there anything Frogger-like that I should be aware of? I'd hugely appreciate help and guidance with my return to the classics:) Here's my dreadful Frogger skills for all to see:) https://youtu.be/cuCwfgD5-FA

Does anyone know how both Scramble and Super Cobra would have looked back in 1983 if the cartridge ROM size for both were at least 16K, preferably either 24K or 32K? The Parker Brothers release of Super Cobra was only a mere 8K in ROM; if it were 16K maybe we would've heard more of the original music and some of the graphics may have been more detailed. The pieces of music that were missing was the SC intro music (only the Scramble intro plays, upon system boot and after every 1000 miles passed), the mileage clear music (for every 1000 miles passed), and the final stage clear music (after booty is picked up successfully and without fail). And if Scramble - Super Cobra's space-themed predecessor - were released for the CV, whether by Coleco, Parker Brothers or perhaps Milton Bradley Electronics, it might have had several of the same sound effects as Super Cobra. I wonder if any mockups were created for a possible CV release of Scramble? ~Ben

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo-cLsZfOlg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiWr4Jha4p8 You're not going to believe this... but if you play Looney Tunes Hotel long enough and find a carrot behind any door, you'll hear what sounds like the Konami 4-note pause jingle. Also... I'm wondering who's going to finish programming LTH, considering it was just a prototype? ~Ben

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME NEW CASTLEVANIA!?! So I did a google news search of "Castlevania", and supposedly there are two new titles coming out. The first is a sequel to Lords of Shadow, and is rumored to be available on the Vita and upcoming Wii U. The second is a platformer for the 3DS, which was described as a platformer with two playable charecters and a co-op mode. I'm not sure if this refers to simultanious New SMB type co-op, or weird Portrait of Ruin co-op. I am very excited for some new Castlevania handheld titles, as these are long overdue. Metroidvania seems to fit in with Nintendo portable like a fish to water. I'm not too sure how I feel about the LoS 2 game for Vita; my gut tells me that it will end up being a lot like the 360 release, visually stunning but not much of a game. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a platformer on the Vita either. Anyone who has played Rayman Origins can attest to the the Vita's platforming chops. Comment and speculate away!
