  1. I realized that there is no place where people can download my ROMs. So I decided I should use my blog to provide them. There will be ROMs of all my homebrews. And maybe I will add some demo or unfinished stuff later too.
  2. RevEng and I have worked together in bringing better emulation accuracy to MESS for the 7800 system. Both NTSC and PAL regions have benefited which has been publicly made available in the recently released MESS 0.153. For more technical details please see this post by RevEng, the mastermind behind many of the great improvements to 7800 emulation. Some game highlights...One-On-One Basketball, Commando, Double Dragon, Planet Smashers, Midnight Mutants, Hat Trick, Xevious, Dig Dug, Centipede, Kung-Fu Master, even protos like Plutos look, run, and play excellently. Homebrews seen improvements as well with previously graphical issues with Crazy Brix's 'Brix' are fixed containing proper gradual color shift. Movement of characters under Beef Drop emulates the real hw - not slower or faster. Worm! starts and plays without issue. Extra RAM demos/carts such as "Soft Cell - Tainted Love" and "Multi-Lock On" work perfectly. Other ROMs that no 7800 emulator could run before - such as the 7800 Diagnostic Test cart, runs under MESS now. Here are the needed ROM files with proper headers: Diagnostic Test Cartridge (19xx) (Atari) !.zip Multilockon.zip Softcell.zip Attached is a sampling of the aforementioned games. They are captured from MESS 0.153 with a few CRT simulation effects turned on inside a window.
  3. So this is a computer game and its called The Next Game Master. I just wanted to get fellow retro gamers feedback on this. I am in the process of coding it now and its a little more than half way done. Using a combination of NES, SNES, and Genesis ROMS & Emulators, it is a game for up to 8 players with 6 Rounds of challenges and then a final gauntlet round. Throughout these 6 rounds, you need to win challenges to earn points. After 6 rounds, points are tallied and the players are entered into a Gauntlet, with the first place player playing last. Here is a video of how it works for the most part: ROUND TRIVIA QUESTION Round 1: "I" in Team 2 Players play with AND/OR against each other to earn up to 3 points After the points are awarded, the scoreboard comes up ROUND TRIVIA QUESTION Round 2: Challenger 2 players play the same game individually to see who scores more points in it. ROUND TRIVIA QUESTION Round 3: Boss Fight Eeach player plays their own game to see if they can defeat the boss. ROUND TRIVIA QUESTION Round 4: Head 2 Head 2 players compete simultaneously in a coop game where the one with the most points at the end will earn points. ROUND TRIVIA QUESTION Round 5: Survival players play their own game to see if they can beat a certain level. ROUND TRIVIA QUESTION Round 6: Versus players compete 1 on 1 in a fighting game Gauntlet Round: Points are then tallied and ranked and the Gauntlet ROund begins. THe lower ranked players must defeat the next highest player to keep moving up until they play the #1 ranked player. Then in a Best of 5 Series of challenges, players compete in challenges to finally determine who is the Next Game Master! I played this with a group of friends and they loved it. Again, I just wanted to put this out there and see what you all think!
  4. What is the best program or programs to use to compare two 2600 roms?
  5. Hello i recently aquierd an atari 1040stf but it didn't come with any games and i can't seem to find any be it in a local shop or downloaded from the internet i can't find anything. Is there anyone out there who knows were i can download Atari st games
  6. Since I am using Retroarch on a lot of devices, I am still thinking about how to arrange my ROM collection. My first collection is the set of the games dumped from my Atari 2600 Rambo clone. Since I know all of that games very well, I woul 136 Id like to create also other collection. I read on Wikipedia there is about 136 initial era Atari games. Ok, this can be the next collection. But, where to find the original games? Yes, there is Atarimania ROM Hunter's collection where I can find every ROM, but which one from all those variants in the original? Ok, next, I read about the prototype games. I can use this list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Atari_2600_prototype_games or this one http://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/2600software.htm and they are very different. Anyway, what that word "prototype" means? I was thinking about collection of PAL only games. I can use this list, but is it complete? http://www.atarimania.com/pgelstsoft.awp?system=2&type=G&format=1&original=1&step=200 And the last, there should be around 380 of third party games, according to Wikipedia. There is also anather list with 471 games: So, I am just curious how other people have their games organized. My problem is, that I would like to have more smaller lists per about 100 games rather than one list with 500 games.
  7. What is the difference? Not all sources of ROMs make a distinction, and I have been able to "plug" .rom dumps of cartridges just fine into emulators like Altirra as cartridges. I do notice though, that some sites provide both a .rom and a .car for a dump of a cartridge. What's the difference, when should each be used and why?
  8. Here is the board of my NICS Electronics TV-Boy, recently acquired, and works perfectly: I bought it because, to my knowledge, it has never been dumped. I have a suspicion that some of the ROMs in the chip are, perhaps, uniquely modified NTSC versions of PAL binaries. So, I'm anxious to run its contents through CloneSpy. Inquiries with the gentleman who had a similar challenge... you can read about his console dumps here: ...solved his problem with the help of a friend in Slovakia. Cool! But I was hoping to ship it to someone in the US (MUCH less costly) who has the necessary equipment and soldering skill. Here is what he told me needs to be done in order to fulfill my objective: "The ROM could be that DIL32 signed as NS-31(N) TV-BOY(127G). It could be a classic 512KB (4Mbit) mask ROM, so it should be de-soldered, inserted to a programmer with 27C040 support and dumped, then re-soldered onto the board." So, anyone monitoring this Forum live closer to Maryland than Slovakia, have the ability to solder, have the equipment mentioned above and the ability to use it, AND have the inclination to take this on and return the TV-Boy to me in full working order along with the dumped file? Not asking much, am I?! I will pay for shipping in both directions, of course, and compensation can be discussed. I'm prepared to ship it to Slovakia if necessary, but am hoping to find a local solution to save on the overall cost. The separated binaries will be shared with the community if any are previously undiscovered. Please advise...

  10. Hello! I have a question, is it possible to make NTSC atari 2600 roms to PAL (50) ? For example play Adventure II, Yar's return, Flag capture and rare games, what is only in NTSC on my Atari? I have unocart 2600 with SD, but scroll lines, when I use that games. Thank you.
  11. OK well, i got my flashback about a week ago not only because I loved most of the pre bundled games that came with it, but the idea of being able to add roms sold me! Now onto the problem..... First let me say, YES ive read every FAQ, help, and such thread on this issue. My flashback will NOT read my SD card UNLESS....I put the card in while the system is already powered on. Ive tried 3 diff cards; 8GB SDHC, 4GB SDHC, 2GB SD. Ive used the recommended formatter software, the games are in the correct extension (first letter uppercase, rest lowercase). Ive created the "game" folder. I know the roms work because like i said the system reads the card IF i put it in while the system is already on. Help on this please?
