Hello from an Atari fan and collector of old stuff, About 20 years ago I came across, and bought at a yard sale, a cool Atari pac-man tournament t-shirt in Texas. It says it is from the first Atari 400 pac man competition in Texas. I am looking to sell it and am contacting various Atari associated groups to see if there is any interest. also, I would love to learn more about the tournament if anyone knows. I cannot find anything online about it. Thanks

As you all know, the 2015 edition of the Carol vs. The World! Championship is under way, and we've already had a good turnout by rookies and veterans alike. Now, I would like to introduce you to my fellow judges for this year's contest, hand-selected for their unique perspectives, strength of character, and passion for our hobby. Or something like that, I'm sure. Judges Panel: Albert - First off on the list is our friend and host, Al, operator and administrator of AtariAge itself. Al brings a sense of respectability and fair justice to the judges table, which is well needed in a panel full of excitable and passionate individuals. Revolutionika - Our very own Rev is in the ranks, providing good humour, promoting fairness and equality, and ensuring that fun remains the main focus of the championship. GroovyBee - Nobody is as groovy as the GroovyBee, who's passion is self evident in all his work. Groovy's keen programmer's eye and zen-like perspective helps us make sure that decisions are not done in haste, that judgements are consistent, and that respect for the game is maintained. "Mystery" Judge - And lastly at the judges table, perhaps reluctantly and unknowingly, is the "Mystery" judge (it's my wife, but don't let her know!); through whom I ran all my ideas, concerns, and suspicions, and always ask for council before making decisions or judgements. When I bring up a topic to the judges table for discussion, chances are that "Mystery" judge has already vetted it and influenced it. And of course, there's your's truly, DZ-Jay, wrangling the cats, having fun, but mostly just stirring trouble. Let's all welcome the new judges! New Rules: In case you are not aware, we've updated the contest rules this year in order to make it more fair and accessible to rookies and novices. The most important change is the creation of a separate rank and prize track for veteran players. The idea is to give a chance for rookies and experienced players to win prizes, without having to compete against each other in an uneven match. A "veteran" player is one who has participated in the contest before with a score of 2,000 points or higher. To celebrate their accomplishments, Santa Claus himself has anointed them with the special honorary title of Elite Knight Elves. The other judges and I believe this to be a better approach for everyone, but of course we welcome feedback. After all, this contest is for the community, and to share and have fun during the Christmas Season. So, don't be shy! Whether you've played the game one time, 500 times, or none at all -- you are all invited and welcome to post your scores, share in the merriment, and have a go at winning a prize. "A roughly 3 month off season is kinda long." (roadrunner) Damn right. Stop this madness! Let's play some Atari. Announcing the Between-Season Tournament. Now with a REAL PRIZE! The Game: Feeling blue, guys? We're going to play SMURF - Rescue in Gargamel's Castle. Or, as I like to call it "Curse of the Azure Booty". The Trophy: The winner of this little tournament will be awarded with a cartridge of "Dschungel Boy", sent to you by yours truly. For those of you in NTSC land, it's a Pitfall clone distributed by Quelle, sold in english-speaking parts of PAL land as "Tom Boy". A simplified clone. And it's bad. And easy. And lame. And it has a really awful Mowgli impersonator on the cover "art". And it's not very rare at all. Or valuable, for that matter. In fact, I bought it last week for 80 cents on a flea market after seeing it sit on that particular seller's table for several weeks. I already have a copy, and the game sucks, so I passed it again and again. But slowly, compassion rose in the back of my head. That poor cart was loved by no one, doomed to rot away, neglected and shivering in the cold flea market air. It needs a new home. A warm and loving home. And you can be the one giving it to poor Jungle Boy. The rules: Tournament will start on Tuesday, Dec 2 and scores will be accepted until Saturday, Dec 20, 20.00 CET. Plenty of time, so take it easy and enjoy. We will skip the overly dandy easy levels and start at Skill level 3, one player. Difficulty switches set to "B", just in case it matters. I will probably post scores as well, but out of contest. I just like playing this game. Good luck to everyone. Have fun. And most importantly… …Smurf be nimble! Smurf be quick! Standings: 1. Northcoastgamer: 171600 2. KaeruYojimbo: 109800 3. Lid: 96800 4. Oyamafamily: 95800 5. Jason_Atari: 31900 6. Wickeycolumbus: 31200 7. darthkur: 30600 8. CaptainClassic: 27600 9. Gorfy: 23700 10. Nikon: 16300 11. Spacey Invader: 15000 12. Roadrunner: 13800 13. LarcenTyler: 10300 (Out of contest: karokoenig: 101,500)

Hey Gang, ZAPCON is back! It's going down April 12-13th once again at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel. Tons of games set to free-play! Films! Seminars! Tournaments! Vendors! It's mostly the same deal as last year: Bring a game, get a weekend pass. Bring 2 games, get 2 weekend passes, etc. Game contributors also get in an hour early, and get an exclusive badge that non-contributors will be envious of. If you're interested in bringing games PM me your real name, phone number, and what (fully functional) pins or arcade games you'd like to bring. Unfortunately due to budget constraints we will not be doing game pick-ups this year. I am, however going to facilitate people going in 2-3 ways on rental trucks or carpooling. Send me your name, phone number and what part of town you're in, and I'll try to connect you with like minded people in your area. Also, if you have a truck or trailer with room to spare and you don't mind going a little out of your way, please let me know. ZAPCON needs you! We're also looking for vendors, sponsors and advertisers, so if you have something to sell or you want to get your name out there, PM me for details. With all your help we can make ZAPCON bigger and better than last year… Spread the word! More info at zapcon.com
