EmOneGarand
DAMN!!!!! I can't find info on these things... Did not know it existed.... Theres very little info on them unfortunately which makes them the rare collectors item.. If I knew how they worked I'd see if I could build one.. I've found methods for building ones for others system but just not the jag.
EricDeLee
I'm telling you... the Jag world seems very cryptic about these things... among others. I've never seen this before in a collecting group. I guess I can always hope that the people that did the PCE Flash Cart will go ahead and do that Jag flash cart... or do the Lynx flash cart. I can always hope. Perhaps the guy that ends up with this would be willing to open it up and give us some info.

Most of the Flash Carts for the Jag are loaner carts so collectors who have one charish it like it's made of gold. No offense to the collectors but alot of info on some of this stuff could do wonders for the community. Heres a method for converting an SMS cartidge into a Re-Programmable Dev Cart http://www.smspower.org/dev/docs/cartmod/cartmod.html Then a method for constructing a flash cart and cart reader/dumper http://www.smspower.org/smsreader/ Maybe somebody could adapt one of these mods for the Jag? The SMS carts have 2 rom chips in them.. the Jag carts have 4 (I think thats the same for all of them) I don't see why it wouldn't be possible but it'd require cannablizing an existing cartridge.. nothing a cheap Cypermorph couldn't remedy. They're all "loaners" at this point. There is a group working on a new Flash Cart, but hard to say if it will ever be a reality. This one was an authentic Atari one. I had about 15 at one time, now I'm down to only 4.
+LS650
the Jag world seems very cryptic about these things... among others. I don't think that's true: flash carts have been discussed many times here on AA. They were made by Atari for development and testing. If you do a search for "Jaguar flash", you'll find several threads, including this one: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15450 myatari.com used to have some, and was selling them for something like $500 US a pop, but they've been sold out for years. EricDeLee
How many games can it hold. I'm assuming only one. Dream... get with me later this summer if you decide to sell. I'm interested in adding that to the Jag collection. I have... I think 14 games right now. Trying to get more...

Gregory DG
I guess it would be nigh on impossible to make a Jaguar cart that could use an SD flash memory card, right? <sigh> I'd love one of those...

vanadium
Jay's right that when you get one, you hold onto it. I sold one once and it took a very lucky spotting on eBay to get one several years later -- from an ex-Atari employee. That actually led into a much bigger deal in the end. But yeah, they're worth gold in the community. I was working with Tototek ( http://www.tototek.com ) to make a run of their popular flash carts for various systems for the Jaguar, but I never got anywhere because they need a Jaguar in Taiwan to work with and Jaguar flash cart schematics -- and I don't have the money to ship one over. Otherwise, if someone carried the torch on this to raise the money to ship a Jaguar over along with a copy of the schematics, there'd probably be a new Jaguar flash cart run in the future. They've already expressed interest in doing it as long as they have the necessary information and testbed. Then you'd see them around the $125-$150 range instead of $350-$450, and on top of that you wouldn't need to search out ancient DOS tools to do the uploading, either. Did I mention they'd also be interested in doing a Lynx flash cart if they had all the necessary items? Someone could get the ball rolling on that as well... That said, Jay's offer is a sweet-ass deal and you should jump on it as fast as you can, if you have the money. You won't see them go for this little very often.
