advfan
Could it be 'Freaky Factory'? Although this one is post-1985.

deathtrappomegranate
If Atari Frog can't identify it, then we need more information. He is really, really good at this!
miker
Just go to atari.online.pl, dowload all the archive (~255MB after unpacking), and it's probably there. Happy hunting!

Well, I'm using an Amiga on dialup. I don't think I'll be downloading 255Mb anytime soon.
BSA Starfire
Perhaps it was Mountain King by CBS? The character is small and has a torch.

Bryan
Perhaps it was Mountain King by CBS? The character is small and has a torch. That's what it sounds like to me. The character has a flashlight, and the screen flashes colors when you finish the level. Very cool and spooky game. Ross PK
I was thinking Mountain King too.

That's only 2x the size of a typical Amiga 500's hard drive!
+davidcalgary29
What about Captain Beeble? It was a) a Canadian release, making it likely that he would have seen it before 1985, and b) is similar enough to a number of other platforms that it's easy to confuse certain elements of the game. miker
So, did you find the game? I'm a bit curious!

Mr.Amiga500
So, did you find the game? I'm a bit curious! Nope, I still haven't found it. It's none of the games mentioned so far. I think I'll give up. It's probably a crappy game anyway. Around 90% of the things from my past that I spent years seraching for ended up being a disappointment anyway. Even the 10% that are as good as or better than I remembered still don't do much more than stop my desire of obtaining them. Thanks everybody for your help.
