Damon Plus
Yes, you know the deal. You vote for your 10 favourite games, the first one gets 10 points, the second one gets 9 points... The Lynx doesn´t have too many games, so we´ll keep the list at 25 games. I know that "best game" lists have been done before, and there was a poll a while ago on the best games. But this time, I´m not closing this. The lynx board is somewhat slow, so this will be opened forever (if the mods don´t delete it or the world ends, of course ) I hope you don´t find this idea too repetitive, because it can be, both fun, and a good thread to see which ones are the true Lynx must-have games! As time passes by, I´ll try to add links to the best games, and maybe even box scans of the first 5 games on the list, that way it will be more entertaining to see. -This is my list (I´ve tried some of them on an emulator, but I think I can have a fair opinion on most of them) 1- Todds Adventures in Slime World (It´s amazing how many depth this game has, and how polished it is) 2-Chip´s Challenge (150 stages of great puzzle games? Plus, you get to control a nerd in search for love!) 3-Stun Runner (Not as smooth as I wanted, but great nonetheless) 4-Shangai (tried it on emulator, I couldn´t keep my eyes out of the game for a while. Great atmoshpere too!) 5-Awesome Golf (3 courses, 54 holes, practice mode...) 6-Pac-Land (simple, but addictive and colorful) 7-APB (hilarious) 8-Paperboy (I love the arcade, and this one seems just as good) 9-Ms Pac-Man (the classic, now with more mazes and features) 10-California Games (just because it shows of what the Lynx could do, and it´s a classic too.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SINGLE PLAYER LIST 1-Chip´s Challenge (61 points) 2-Klax(54 points) 3-Todd´s Adventures in Slime World (53 points) 4-Stun Runner (45 points) 4-Shangai(45 points) 6-Xybots (35 points) 7-California Games (30 points) 7-Rygar(30 points) 9-Warbirds (26 points) 10-Ms Pac-Man(25 points) 11-Lemmings (24 points) 12-Blue Lightning (22 points) 13-Rampart (21 points) 14-Scrapyard Dog (19 points) 14-Zarlor Mercenary(19 points) 16-Xenophobe (18 points) 17-Checkered Flag (16 points) 18-Qix (14 points) 18-Battlewheels (14 points) 19-Pac-Land (13 points) 19-Steel Talons (13 points) 22-Shadow of the Beast (12 points) 22-Paperboy (12 points) 22-Crystal Mines 2 (12 points) 25-APB (11 points) 25-Roadblasters (11 points) ---------------------------------------------- Out of list (games with at least one point) -Toki -Pinball Jam -Dirty Larry: Renegade Cop -Gauntlet: the Third Encounter -Robotron 2084 -Alpine Games -Double Dragon -Bill and Ted´s Excelent Adventure -Gates of Zendocon -Super Skweek -Turbo Sub -Electrocop -Hard Drivin -Awesome Golf -Battlezone 2000 -Dracula the Undead --------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------- Out of list (games with zero points) -Baseball Heroes -Basketbrawl -Batman Returns -BLockout -Desert Strike -Dynolimpics -European Soccer Challenge -Fidelity Ultimate Chess Challenge -Gordo 106 -Hockey -Hydra -Ishido: the Way of the Stones -Jimmy Connors Tennis -Joust -Kung Food -Lynx Casino -Malibu Beach Volleyball -NFL Football -Ninja Gaiden -Ninja Gaiden 3 -Pit Fighter -Power Factor -Rampage -Robosquash -Super Asteroids and Missile Command -Switchblade 2 -Tournament Cyberball -Viking Child -World Class Soccer --------------------------------------------------- Edited November 19, 2007 by Damon Plus

PFG 9000
01) Lemmings (hands down the top Lynx title IMO - incredible soundtrack and super fun levels, also with the best Lemmings interface I've used) 02) Todd's Adventures in Slime World (it's so much fun to get lost in the planet's interior, I'll probably never find all the different tunnels and rooms) 03) Shadow of the Beast (mindblowing graphics, great gameplay, and probably the most fairly balanced port of SotB that I know of) 04) Scrapyard Dog (a real gem, tons of replay value with all the secret exits and bonuses and minigames) 05) Klax (really shows off what the Lynx can do) 06) Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (the most underrated Lynx title IMO, it's got some great music, clever puzzles, and top-notch level design) 07) Warbirds (another technological showcase for the Lynx, I've actually gotten the kill counter to max out at 99 without 1 death) 08) S.T.U.N. Runner (plays super fast and is quite fun, though I never appreciated it when I was younger) 09) Shanghai (addicting gameplay, 'nuff said) 10) California Games (far more solid than most pack-in titles, also has some great variety in the gameplay on offer) Edited May 27, 2007 by PFG 9000

PFG 9000
I never tested raiden in the lynx. Is it a good conversion? Raiden is okay. The sprite-to-screen size ratio is pretty high so there's not much room to maneuver. And the controls are a tad slow, which is always frustrating in a shooter. The only way to really survive is to grab the "P" powerup that appears right away for full power, and then don't get hit for the rest of the game. There's also no music beyond the title screen. But it's Raiden alright. Edited May 27, 2007 by PFG 9000

Songbird
If you want to vote on a Top 10 or Top 25, go Here. I'll second this - Greg has put together a wonderful Atari fan site here, and it's especially cool to see real-time updates to the Lynx/Jaguar rankings! Damon Plus
I agree, it´s a wonderful site that I visit every time the Atari bug bites me. But I´d like to do this anyway, it´s both fun and useful for the board.

I thought it was a pretty good game myself. It's even better multiplayered, but I've only done that on other systems or through emulation, (does the lynx one support multiplay?) but I think the Lynx handles this type of game quiet well, and it's nice and fast without being overly hard to start iwth. jimid2
Well, I recently reacquired a Lynx and a handful of games, so I decided I'd stop lurking and register just to post in this thread! The Lynx was always one of my favorite systems back in the very early '90s - I had a couple friends who owned systems as well and we'd sit around the apartment on Saturday afternoons jacked into the wall sockets and Lynxed up playing Gauntlet and Warbirds and drinking beer till it was time to hit the town and look at girls and play Crystal Castles and Black Tiger on the coin-op tables in the bar and drink beer... but I digress... Anyway, my Lynx Top Ten: 1. California Games 2. Zarlor Mercenary 3. Gauntlet 4. Todd's Adventures in Slime World 5. Blue Lightning 6. Rygar 7. Shadow of the Beast 8. Klax 9. Chip's Challenge 10. Gates of Zendicon
Wilbur McCalmont
The Lynx had the best library of different game genres up until the Advance came out and had multi-player capability which made it the most fun of any portable for that reason alone. That multi-player capability makes it harder to make just one list of my favorites, because Warbirds would top the list because it's so addictive with 2 to 4 people "LYNXED-UP" (how many times have you said "OK we'll stop playing after the next shoot-down" ) but it would drop to maybe 20th in single-player mode. Perhaps two lists are in order - one for single-player mode and one for multi-player mode. Just a thought. .

That´s a great idea, considering one of the main qualities about the Lynx was the multiplayer games. However, As I suposse not everyone could play it, it will only be a top 5-10 list. Updated up to jimid2. I´m doing an Excel sheet to keep the updates. Here´s some interesting facts: -10 people have voted so far -The games that most people have included on their lists are: Klax (7), Stun Runner (6), Chip´s Challenge, Shangai and Xybots (5) -The games that have received more votes per user (with at least 3 votes) are: Todd´s Adventures in Slime World (9 points/user) Chip´s Challenge (7,6 points/user) Rampart (7 points/user) Stun Runner (6,6 points/user) Shangai (5,5 points/user) -There are only 2 games that have received 2 first place votes: Slime World and Lemmings. Only one game has received 2 second place votes: Chip´s Challenge. And only 1 game has received 2 third place votes: Warbirds. -Only 2 games have received at least one first, second and third place vote: Chip´s Challenge and Stun Runner. But I know there is lot of Lynx games capable comlynx action. So which are the most recomanded? Road Riot 4WD is lots of fun comLynxed, and Loopz does, I believe, have a battle mode. I'd also recommend Slime World and Warbirds for multi-player fun.
