Hi, guys,

Recently, I've been trying to find more information on Dynacom's 64K Megaboy cartridge, but have found very little. I know that the game was a pack-in cartridge with Dynacom's 2600 clone of the same name, but that's pretty much it. What I'd really like to know is when was this game/system released, how rare is it, and how much is it worth? The Atari Guide website lists the game with a rarity 5, but is selling a copy for $315.75.

If anyone can give me any information on this rare game, I'd greatly appreciate it. I simply cannot find any information on it anywhere.

Thanks.

Hi

I own this cartridge and the Dynacom clone system too.It seems to be rarebut over 300 bucks only for the cart is too much.If you have some nice 7800 items for trade, maybe i would give it away.

Unfortunately, I don't collect for the 7800. I don't even own one at the moment. Oh, well...

I've been searching the web for information and I have found a few sites. Two in particular show a date of when the game/system was released. One says that it was released in 1991, and the other says it was released in 1992. (1991, 1992) I'm not sure which is correct, but either way, it was released extremely late in the 2600's life.

As for the rarity, the Atari Gaming Headquarters states that only 500 copies were made and distributed in Brazil. (You can see that page here. Just scroll down to the bottom where it says "Megaboy.") Again, I'm not sure if it's true, but that would mean the game is much higher on the rarity scale than 5, and might just be worth that $315.

1991.

Maybe even earlier.

I agree with you on this one. I have alwasy believed it to be a 8 or 9 due to its limited release and availability. To this date I have only seen two for sale in Europe and both went for over £400 each. I heard it is very difficult to acquire one even in Brazil where it originated ;)

There's two versions of the MegaBoy cart, the pack-in and one that was sold separately. Of the latter, dozens (maybe even 100-200) of these were found and sold a couple of years ago, all brand new (shrinkwrapped) in box. That one's worth $50, a complete system (boxed with all pack-in goodies) is worth around $200.

Cheers,

Marco
