Cybergoth
Nobody has mentioned the original Wing Commander yet?I used to play the Amiga version of that. Great music. Not sure if it really plays any better on a PC. In that era PCs were still kind of weak. Depends on the Amiga. On a stock 500 it sure felt atrocious compared to a fast VGA 386er... Archie
I'm surprised nobody said DooM! If I had to pick one it would be Doom. Blood Doom 1 and 2 Outlaws Command and Conquer Civilization II Monkey Island 1 and 2 System Shock 2 Quake 1 and 2 Original NFS I know they are kinda recent, but I was never really a DOS gamer. Midtown Madness had a great community that made tons of add-ons. The game itself got very dull very fast. The community and add-ons is what made it great. Tom_Explodes
I see a couple people mentioned it, but honestly, guys. System Shock 2. One of the best games of all time, period. It's just utterly amazing.

Mike 01Hawk
Too many to name.... Although I do have a fondness for T7G... because of that game I blew like $400+ to upgrade to a 486 and double speed cd-rom from a 386/single speed. That game was just 'magic'. I was like "they've finally done it, THIS is a virtual world I could dive into. How could it get any better?" I was truly blown away... and still boggled how when you ask what was the first smash hit adventure game and people ALWAYS refer to Myst The Fat Man was/is a legend and before his time. The atmosphere he was able to create with music was just amazing.

atwwong
Although I played it on the Apple ][, Akalabeth is one of the first games I enjoyed/was frustrated with, along with the Infocom games, namely Zork I, II, and III on the IBM PC.
