I start to play Mame on PC

a lot of games (like street fighter alpha 3) use only 68000 and ZX81 processors

People can develop a Jaguar version of this emulator for emulate theres games

68000 no problem jaguar have a 68000 (only need an adress changer)

for the ZXspectrom or ZX81 using tom or gerry

and mame is open-source

The Jaguar is a mess emulation wise, Project Tempest is the best Emulator out there it still has alot of issues, it'd take alot of work to get a new one running, MESS has sources for JAG emulation but it's so crude it doesn't work at all, it's all the chips in the JAG that make 100% emulation unlikely right now.

Plus it's not that hard to get a Jag and buy some of the common carts. Emulation is no substitute for playing it on the real thing.

I think you misunderstood, EmOneGarand.

TC isn't talking about developing a Jaguar emulator, but running an emulator like MAME on a Jaguar.

TC, simply because some games use a 68k doesn't mean you can run an emulator simply based on the fact that Jag also has a 68k. It might make porting such games easier, but not running full blown emulators.

The one problem is that the way the 68k is hooked up in the jaguar, you could not easily use it.

The 68k in the Jaguar does not make use of exceptions and therefore you cant trap the accesses

to the emulated hardware. It's not impossible but it's not any easier. The Jaguar uses a 68k

at 13 MHZ, so its probably twice as fast as most arcade machines but most home computers

can go up to 16. The blitter and the OPL however are PERFECT to emulate ANY 2D machines

graphics and sprites before its time and even some after its time. The other real issue is memory.

The saving grace of all this is the fact that the GPU and the DSP are plenty powerful enough to emulate anything before its time and one or two beyond its time.
