Gorf
Just looked folks.....the 74HC244 is tristate so no default. It is idle on powerup. You'll need to ground pin 4 of the Jag pad. That pin is the Row for the 'D' pad and button 'A'. This way you can simply make all needed connections via an adapter. no need to break a Jag Pad open. mimo
Can anyone help me with where to link in a rotary controller so I can keep the original functionality of the Jag controller? I will assume you are playing Tempest 2k.... You will have to use a switch for that. Since the rotary uses the joypad switches as the rotary input you may have the encoder NOT set to a zero buttons state. this means unprovoked movement. Can you read a Schematic? I can send you a small drawing on what to do. Yep T2K (until you release something else ) I thought there may be some conflict with the 2 control schemes on the same device, but I am not technical enough to work it out for myself I can try and read a schematic, I am on a steep learning curve at the moment Please send me a drawing and I will see how far I get Thanks for your help
Gorf
I'll need to find a bit of time to get to it but I'll get to it...remind me if a week or two passes by. I tend to get side tracked by real life...

Not necessary but it will go further in making the schematic more understandable.
Gorf
Also, Mimo, we do indeed have plans to release a paddle cart. A multi game cart which would be similar to that of the 2600 title 'Video Olympics'. It will be up to four players. It will come with an adapter to allow hook up of four paddles to port two of your Jaguar. Unfortunately that will increase the cost of that particular game but will then as a result hoepfully offer a new incentive to write Paddle based games. We will also 'reuse' it ourselves to release other paddle based or analog type games. I am also hoping the adapter will make it easy for anyone to create a controller to fit thier personal tastes. The adapter will allow the following combinations of controllers simultainously ...on ONE controller port....this is off the top of my head... 2 Joys with 8 buttons each 4 Joys with 2 buttons each 2 trackball/mice with 8 buttons each(will need seperate supply tho) 4 trackball/mice with 2 buttons each(will need seperate supply tho) 4 encoders with 4 buttons each 8 encoders with one button each. Now other possibilities..... Due to the fact that we can have more than one encoder we can also emulate any kind of analog controller and rather easily. It will come with a DSP code snipet for those that will want to use it in their own games. Im working up a 'mock' Star Warsish demo for the Jaguar that will demonstrate just such a possibility. Yes, vector based graphics like the arcade but only a simple demo. I have spare Yokes to my StarWars cock pit that I may use for the demo. All kinda of things will be possible.
