Recommendations for SNES emulator for PC?

I collect SNES games and I was thinkng it would be cool to play some of these games on my laptop (1.6mhz dual core, 2gb, Vista). I downloaded Zsnes and it looked pretty horrible in the few resolutions I tried also I could not get the sound to work. I am wondering what the best emulator would be? I pretty much want to play Castlevania IV and Contra III for now. Thanks for any help!!!!

SNES9x... its not updated anymore but IMO its still the best SNES emulator out there.

Aye, there's a Windows version of snes9x (v1.51 is the latest, I think), with pretty good emulation, filtering options and a range of useful options (mouse-as-lightgun, GameGenie / ActionReplay, etc.). You might also want to look at zsnes (again, v1.51 is the latest) - another fairly solid emulator. Sometimes some of the flakier roms'll work on one but not the other.

You might also want to look at http://www.zophar.net - it doesn't host any emulators and may be out of date, but it's a good place to find out what's available.
