Emehr
Last night, in an attempt to thin out my collection, I was going through my games and playing the ones I'm thinking about getting rid of (just to make sure I want to get rid of 'em). I plugged in Gauntlet II for the NES and went at it. Wow, this game is closer to the arcade than Tengen's Gauntlet but the lack of in-game music makes it quite boring. So I plugged in Tengen Gauntlet and played a few levels just to listen to the fantastic music. While playing, I also realized that this game is the superior one of the NES Gauntlets with it's faster-paced gameplay. So, yeah, Gauntlet II now resides in my "for sale" pile. Anyone else plug a game in just for some aural pleasure?
Ghost Soldier
I tend to stop playing chrono trigger, and listen to the music.
RJ
NES Gyromite is worth playing/buying for its music alone. ColecoVision Mr. DO! music is catchy as well. Edited August 12, 2008 by RJ
iswitt
Shadowgate for the NES has some rockin' tunage.
FeistyGirl
Y's Book I & II for the Turbo-CD I played through the game 20 times just to listen to the music... and of course I copied the CD over to a cassette to listen to in the car back in the day as well. One of my favorite game/soundtracks ever.
MFoolsRun
When I played Xenogears I frequently stopped to listen to the music. I bought both soundtracks.
vdub_bobby
Wizards & Warriors. Maybe Ironsword also. Contra once or twice. Pitfall II. Thrust+ Platinum. That's probably about it.

Artlover
No, but I have loaded up many a C64 game just to watch the group's intro. Most of the time the intro was better then the game anyways. Tobad you Atari guys didn't have much of that.
Classic Pac
I hate to admit this, but the answer is YES. I really love the music where the girl dies in FF7.
Ace_1
Sometimes, I leave Thunder Force IV running in its attract sequence just to listen to its awesome FM-synthesized music.
phuzzed
sometimes I put in Ballblazer just to hear the theme music on the title screen. But, on the NES, i often get the urge to play the Mega Man Series for the music....

CGQuarterly
The original Sonic the Hedgehog. Freakin' WORD!!! I have the whole soundtrack on my MP3 player! Also, Streets of Rage II and FF VII, games for which I also have the soundtracks on my MP3 player. Chris
atarian1
Master of the Lamps on the Atari 8-bits from Activision. Every level had a cool tune.
supercat
I've sometimes switched on Thrust+, Toyshop Trouble, or Stella's Stocking to listen to the music, though usually when I find myself wanting the music from TT or Stay Frosty (my favorite of the SS tunes) I simply turn 90 degrees to my ancient Yamaha and play it. Can't do the tap-dancing part of Toyshop Trouble, though. Sometimes I'll play along with Stella's Stocking. Can't play along with Toyshop Trouble, though--the "G" is way too far out of tune. Tobad you Atari guys didn't have much of that. What, games that sucked but had good music? Stand tall, C64 partisans! Anyway, thinking some more, I'll add Star Fire, O'Reilly's Mine, Ballblazer (can't believe I forgot that one), and Halo.
mos6507
The original Wing Commader has amazing music. (I played the Amiga version).

+MattelAquarius
Journey Escape for the 2600. I always catch myself humming the main melody, which is sadly missing from the cart music.
Atarifever
Donkey Kong for the 7800. Okay, I'm kidding. I pop Sonic CD into the CD player sometimes. I sold the Sega CD and all the other games, but I kept that one just to listen to it.
dangeraaron
WOW! i am surprised no one has said Super Mario Bros. you get that tune in your head, and you don't stop humming it
