Look. I was involved in a heated thread earlier this year and now looking back on it, I wish I had maintained my composure. Arguing in an open forum, for everyone to see, is not recommended. I let my anger get the best of me, and in turn presented myself as a forum troll, which is not the case.

"...Anger gets a person nowhere, it divides. Eloquently presenting your words on the other hand, has the potential to unify..."

SDrive (rev .12.10.2008)

Robert Petružela a Radek Štěrba , Bob!k & Raster , C.P.U. , 2008

The SDrive is a device that connects to Atari XL/XE's serial (SIO) port and simulates an Atari floppy disk drive with full read/write access to programs and data stored on a SecureDigital flash card (SD).

Its an open source project. You will most likely have to build it or find someone who can. It would be great if a run of circuit boards were made. Looks like Digikey (www.digikey.com) has all the parts.

Hi,

A few of us are talking about this in chat. We are looking into making pcbs, but with a couple of changes...

*) replacing the db15 with an SIO jack

*) replacing the dip sw with small 1/4" push on/off types like the momentary.

Fully 2 sided plated hole nice boards could be done for about $12.00 ea.

I am also looking into a parts number list.

What do you think?

I'll buy one!! Put me on the list.

Hey where can you get SIO jacks?

Old atari equipment(never throw away dead stuff without stripping first :) ), Best Electronics, possibly B&C. I have a few for my stuff/stuff I sell, at a premium. It will be in the list when done.

Or you can just solder in an sio cable cut in half (or both halves so its not a dead end device).

I'm planning to build an SDrive in the New Year, I was planning to either built it on strip board or etch my own PCB. I'd be interested in a pre-made PCB. Hopefully you wouldn't mind shipping to the UK?

I've been digging through the microcontroller code.

Stepping up to a better AVR will allow "un-doing" of the changes that were made to the FAT routines.

Trying to think of a better way to do drive selections, seems clunky to me.

I apologize for not seeing this thread before posting my other one, but I've got plans to produce SDrive PCBs within the next month or so. The bulk of the work (part selection, schematic capture, board layout) is done, so now I'm just waiting for some parts to come in before I order the prototype run of boards. Please see this thread for more information.
