tugboat450
So I've had my Intellivision for about a week, and so far it's been working great. Earlier today (of course it has to be the day I buy 50 new games for it) it decided to stop working. When I power it on, the green title screen comes up, but I can't get past this screen. Hitting the two side buttons doesn't work. I know they work, because I've tested them in Demon Attack (which, like other Imagic games, doesn't have the title screen) I'm stumped, anybody here know what the problem is or have any suggestions on what's going on? Thanks
y-bot
Sometimes the coating on the flex circuits inside the controller flakes off and shorts them out causing weird things to happen. Try taking them apart, cleaning them and shaking out anything loose. y-bot
2600Lives
Give EVERY single game you have a good, thorough cleaning, too. My suggestion is to get a bottle of isopropyl alcohol (the highest content of alcohol you can find, usually 91% is the highest you can find, and it's fine) and some Q-Tips. Clean the contacts on the carts, then use the alcohol on a cart and insert it into the system a few times. Re-clean the cart afterwards. Let the system dry for an hour or so, then try again. 99% of the time, old systems like this not working is due to grime on the contacts. The Inty can be notoriously flaky, though. Not quite as bad as the Coleco and that horrible contact grease they used on the power switch, but still somewhat unpredictable.
chrisbid
ive sometimes found that inserting carts as far into the console slot as possible doesn't produce the best results for the INTV. try pushing the cart in all the way, then pull out the cart just slightly. joeybastard
My INTV carts need constant cleaning to work. They are just as bad as NES carts in that regard.
tugboat450
I cleaned the system and games with alcohol, didn't work. I also took apart the controllers, it looks near perfect inside, no dirt at all. I have no idea what to do now... any other ideas?
