Gorf
Ok folks. Im kinda brain storming some new level ideas for Warbirds. I want 8 different missions but the side to side thing can get boring the first few I already have. Im thinking of using other classic like control schemes from other games not side to side in nature in the newer levels. This would mean adapting to a differing control sheme on the fly. Do you guys think you can handle it? Also, what kind of classic feel games would you suggest other than the side to side shooters? I await your responses. +Mitch
I don't think changing the control scheme should be a big deal. Just look at Star Wars the Arcade Game. What kind of alternates are you looking for? A defender clone type game? Or more "death from above" type games? You could also do some type of a linking adventure/explore type game between missions if you have the space. Mitch
xZanU
How about after your initial death from above levels go to a boss fight that you can not win (Just stay alive as long as possible to get points), then when you are hit by the 'boss' go to cut screen of your ship crashing on a moon or planet or something with some text saying you need to find a new ship, then run along the terrain for a level in hand to hand combat (Think Ninja Golf only with a ray gun instead of Ninja Star). You fight your way to some bunker and find a moon patrol vehicle (Like the 2600 game moon patrol) run with that for a level or two until you 'make it' to the enemy launch pads where you steal one of their ships and head out for another wave or two of death from above, then a final confrontation with the boss ship that you can actually destroy and win the day. Then again I may have misunderstood what you were asking, but the above would make for a fun ride : )
Shawn
Alternating "side to side" levels to "up and down" levels (a la plutos) would be cool. having the side to side levels have a bit of freedom for the ship at the bottom like in Millipede would be cool too. And Boss stages are a must.
Shawn
I ment side to side is like pluto's up and down like sirous. No edit button sucks

It's getting more obvious, I will need to design a new PCB along side of a game for 7800. I might consider this but in a less extravagant manner. Nice thoughts, nonetheless. Oh and there will be at least one boss. EDIT: I was diggin the running with a hand gun thing.....perhaps a ZYBOTS like scenario. gambler172
Hi Gorf How about a docking section, like in MOON CRESTA?And if you are succesful, your ship could get more firepower.A boss level would be nice, but not the same boss, like in PHOENIX.It should be a little bit harder to beat. greetings Walter

Gorf
I was kind of wondering how this is coming along if you don't mind my asking. Ive not touched it. The economy has me scraping right now and I have not had much time. I did take a look at it the other night. Still trying to think about what I want to do with this game. I also would like to have the special RAM/POKEY cart to do some 'special' stuff. I do want it to be a mutli level game but so far I am not happy with but the first level. Gorfy I would suggest scrapping the whole thing and programming "Tutankham" for the 7800...mmmmmm...."Tutankham"........but then that's MY favorite arcade game....yeah..... I've never stepped away from coding for more than a day. I think Im just getting burnt out soI'm taking a step back and just chilling right now. Also I still do not have the emulator I need to emulate the POKEY and RAM on cart.

You know after seeing the scrolling Pac Man Jr. I bet it wouldn't be too hard to adapt that game engine to Tutankham for the 7800...hell the game is practically already written!!!! I can dream can't I... AdeptRapier Edited April 1, 2009 by AdeptRapier
