Zwackery
This article from VideoGames magazine (vol. V, no. 11, Nov 1993) mentions Pitfall Harry: The Mayan Adventure and 2 other title updates: River Raid: The Mission of No Return and Kaboom!: The Return of the Mad Bomber. Did these 2 disappear because of sales figures on The Mayan Adventure? Has anyone seen any more info about the "lost" games?
Wickeycolumbus
I've never heard about those before, they look awesome!
Tempest
I seem to recall at least Kaboom being finished or close to it (maybe River Raid as well) but not released. Ken Love mentioned these at one point in one of his posts. Tempest
jboypacman
Those would of been fun to of tried out if they ever saw a release.

It didn't have anything like the paddle controller did it? That's half of what made the game workable. Well ok, there was the mouse, but... eh. Atarifever
Kaboom on the SNES would have been a slow-down plagued flicker-fest.
thegamezmaster
Too bad they never saw the light of day. They'd have been great.
Red 5
They look cool to me. I wonder how complete they were and if there are any protos anywhere.
Atariboy
Klove said he had both at AA in the past, so they still exist somewhere at Activision (Or did a few years ago). Would love to play the River Raid remake someday. Edited February 24, 2009 by Atariboy
Video
Kaboom better use the mouse or something, it would suck with a DPad, or at least use the various buttons to controll speed (like stearing in Stuntrace)
Godzilla
I doubt the snes version would have had an endless river... but i'd still love to see em. i too fear for any paddle-less kaboom.
Red 5
Even if River Raid and Kaboom sucked ass, it would be fun to play just to see what they thought up. The clock theme for Kaboom was intriguing.
phuzzed
I always thought they could build an updated version of River Raid that would kick much ass today. Wouldn't that make an Excellent XBOX live Arcade addition?

KIWASABI
What could really be done differently with Kaboom other than changing the graphics? That's such a primitive (although extremely addicting) game that I just don't see how it would've had relevance in the 16-bit era (people were used to games with narrative, levels, bosses, etc). I'm guessing this is why the game wasn't ever released. As for River Raid, it was most likely killed since it would've just been another mediocre shmup in a flooded market. I have to admit that I don't really like that they've been constantly bringing back Pitfall. The main character and the game's world/universe are obviously just shoddy knock-offs of Indiana Jones. Lara Croft is the same but she had DD's to distinguish her; what does Pitfall Harry have that anybody cares about? He even has a stupid name. -Adam
Lost Dragon
Forgive digging up very old thread, but just updated Unseen64 with this failed attempt at a PS2 reboot of River Raid and it had a link to this thread, so kinda made sense to post info up here as well... http://www.google.co.uk/url?q=http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DottFNrTA1oE&sa=U&ei=UrjOVIGVCMT9UJGMgYAJ&ved=0CBUQtwIwAA&usg=AFQjCNHEArFiMFVfM70klzlIMD83jlhOtQ
Austin
That's really interesting to see the screenshot of Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure from the scanned article up top. I was playing TMA over the weekend and it looks a good bit better than what we see in that article. That must have been a fairly early build.
