Yes, by hand, note by note, trials an errors. no midi keyboard, no midi converter, nothing... but I'm using 3 things : the "original" music with speed adjusted a little bit to fit the tempo I'm using for the coleco version, my tools cv-notes and cv-soundbank to "compose", and Audacity to put each blocks togheter and compare the result with the "original" music. It takes me a night for 26 to 52 seconds of music depending of the complexity. Because I'm coding each note by hand, I feel having a better control of the result. Maybe this can help you to imagine even more, I don't know I did find today the missing notes for two parts of this music and I did a rom file with it and run it on my ColecoVision game system and uploaded the result to Youtube.
