arkanoid
Hello guys, I have seen hardware mods for other retro handhelds which enable enable them to be hooked-up to regular TVs or monitors. For example, this mod outputs the GG's video signal to a regular TV set Game Gear video mod So I was wondering, has anyone on the Lynx scene tried a similar mod? if so, where can I find info? Is a similar mod even possible with the Lynx? just curious to know some info on this...thanks! Edited March 20, 2009 by arkanoid
EricDeLee
Yep... check out Rygar's work: Rygar's Lynxvision There is a Youtube video and other stuff. There was an official version at one time, but was abandoned. Now that I think about it, I don't think it was an official version. It was something that was done aftermarket. I don't think atari was going to do an official adaptor due to lack of real demand. Which I understand. I owned a Turbo Express and a Game Gear. I owned the TV thingys for each of those, but rarely used them. I did attempt to use the Turbo Express one during my trip from Oklahoma to Michigan because of college football being on! It worked for the most part, but if you move out of a local area, you'd have to re-find the channel. I got to see my Huskers, or at least most of the game! arkanoid
Thanks for the info EricDeLee. I guess I shuld search the forums better before asking questions :-) Rygar's project sounds very interesting but, wow, $500 is a lot of money. Total component costs for similar mods on the GameGear and GBA total around only $20! Perhaps the Lynx mod is needing some specialist hardware though. cheers
jaguar_fan
I think the cost are mostly releated to the fact if there are any usable signals you can convert to feed them into a TV input. Look at the huge box he is using to do that. I would assume it contains a heavily modified Lynx. And he is using another Lynx serving as controller only. I wonder what´s in the large box... +LS650
I have seen a device for older PSPs used some kind of a CCD camera clamped onto the surface of the screen to send a signal to a TV. I wonder if you could jury-rig one of those onto a Lynx.
