Which system do you like to play good ol' 2600 on?

There are tons of kinds of 2600s. I like to play on my light sixer because it's pretty much the only one I own and somethings wrong with my 7800.

I chose both H6er versions Atari & Sears-they are the best. But I would use the 5200 expansion to play the old carts if I had a 5200+2600expansion.

I usually fire up a 7800 with cx-40s or paddles attached for 2600 gaming.

I wouldn't use the prolines UNLESS they were the absolute last option on earth.

Other than that it's emulation all the way on PC, Mac, PSP.

 

One day soon I'll fire up a 6 switcher 2600 again just for full immersion.

I voted 7800 because that's what I have hooked up 90% of the time. I use my 2600jr occasionally, but my original 2600 (Light Switcher) from back in the day is on the fritz.

I just sold most of my 2600 stuff in a big lot (see my marketplace/auction thread for details on what's left). The only machine I'm keeping is my Sears Video Arcade II, aka the Atari 2800. IMO, it's the nicest machine in the series.

Is there a reference URL to which models of A5200s works with A2600 expansion plug-in or better how to make it work on any A5200 system. I got the A2600 expansion but so far nothing but black screen.

 

Also of interest would be how the A5200 games access the digital joystick ports in the A2600 expansion plug-in.

I don't know why this topic is in the 5200 forum myself.

 

I play 2600 games my Atari 7800. It is caused by the following facts

 

1.)I got a rid of my Atari 2600 Jr. over 17 or 18 years ago to one of my younger brother's friends at the time.

2.) I couldn't keep all my game systems hooked on a shelves as once due to room space nowdays.

3.) Half the time I hook up the 7800, it is for my 2600 games.

My first Atari was the 2600 Jr I got when I was 11 for Xmas 1990-91

 

But I voted for the Dark Vader because that's what I play now:)

 

I love the styling and the fact that it's an updated version from the original hardware ^_^

 

Still have the Jr. and am wanting to get it working again:)

 

But I've heard that the video output is best on the original H Sixer....

Light sixer. Has all the switches, it's light(helps when switching controllers), and easy to find and replace. Nostalgia too, I grew up with one.

Well, from what I understand, it depends on what version of 7800 you have. Seems to be similar to the reasons that Robot Tank doesn't work on some 7800's including mine.

I wish you could vote for two! I like playing on Stella and my Vader. I didn't vote because I can't choose between them, they both have advantages and both are fun.

Had to vote for the Jr., or the Atari Mini as it's called above. It's much easier to lug in an out and I don't care about it nearly as much as my other systems. The Heavy Sixers are saved for special guests on special occasions.

A couple choices are missing from the poll: Sears Video Arcade II, and the Intellivision Expansion.
