Trade your Atari games at...Toys R Us?

I'm curious to see what they'll be buying games like that for. Also, I can't wait now to go to Toy R Us to see if someone traded in some old gaming gear I'd want to buy.

According to the update on that linked page, Toys R Us will not be selling the games but "are taken by a third party company that refurbishes them for resale." In other words they'll be "dusted off" and put online for ridiculous prices.

The third party is Amazon. Toys R Us, Target, and Amazon are in bed together in a sick twisted orgy. Don't give them your I.D., phone number, social security number, credit card number, or used games... Don't do it... I warned you. :ponder:

They're apparently giving what amounts to "almost nothing" for modern gen games. All that old stuff will probably be between 5 cents and a whole quarter per game, and they insist on it being in the original box. I'd rather throw my games in the garbage than spend good gas and gas money taking them for trade in if they're just going to rip me off.

Dear god, again with the garbage. We get it. Throw everything in the garbage. Christ.

I think I am going to test this program out. They may want games in their original cases, but I do have some really, really beat up boxes that are duplicates for my Atari 2600 games in better boxes. Also have Odyssey 2 games in their original boxes. Will probably throw in some Dreamcast games as well. If they don't give much for it oh well. Just am honored to have a big company actually want my old stuff. Of course I am not stupid enough to actually throw in something of value.

It's probably like a quarter across the board, and maybe as much as a buck for current gen games :P just going by how something like Game.stop did it

As for ID's, I agreee, I only give other peoples social security numbers, photo ID's addresses and emails (prefferably from different people) Yeah, the granny down the street gets lots of porn adds, and the next door neighbors kid gets a ton of prozac in the mail :D To bad other people don't do that, all I ever get in the mail are cat heads, dog turds, and publishers clearinghouse winner thingies.

My opinion is biased of course, but still,i wouldn't sell any game to Toy-r-us.Why? so they can turn around and sell them at some auction site for insane high prices, and they'll give you what?50 cents to $1.50 per game?screw them. :x As posted above, they'll be given to Amazon or something to sell,T.R.U must be getting part of the profits too.T.R.U is doing nothing but helping more and more games end up on auction sites and out of garage, thrift, flea markets, etc.

Well, you're apparenty old enough to read, so... despite your intelligence being questionable. Though I guess southerners need some basic reading skill so they can have the Bible and Mein Kampf crammed into their heads.

I get it. You people are pissed that I threw things in the garbage because they wouldn't sell. It's not your decision, it was my decision, so live with it.

I have no reason to be nice to you people because, from a business standpoint, this forum is useless to me. Just like the idiots at Digital Press, CAG or Sega-16.

If you're going to spend more in gas expenses to take the games to the store than you would actually get in trade, then it is a waste to do so. Better to throw the game away then end up in the negative getting rid of it. Though this is why I largely turned to game piracy, I got sick of losing money on video games.

I take great offense to that. You sound like an arrogant kid that needs to do some growing up. If you don't like it here then feel free to leave. I doubt many will lose much sleep about it.

Wow, that would be totally awesome, but like said above3, it's just going on amazon or some auction (ebay? though I don't see TRU putting out that kind of cash for something like this)

Doesn't matter to me, I have no TrU anyways (bastids)_ tosmall of a town probably, we only got 18(ish) thousand or so people here. Apparently that's not even enough for a poorer game store like gamestop so :x

Must... resist... urge... to... run... to... Goodwill...

Last week one Goodwill store in Flint/Burton area had around 100 "used" Genesis games in little resale cardboard box that used to sell for $19.99 at various department stores like Kmart. All sports titles BTW but if Toys R Us were paying more than $5 each I would have gotten the whole lot and basically put those moldy old sports titles back into service sitting on display somewhere with too high price tag on it.

If you want to see what your games are worth as trade ins at Toys R Us you can check this site:

http://www.toysrustradeincenter.com/

Looks like 2600 games all get 50 cents each. Also, the games they take in as trades are sent to Gamers Factory for redistribution to other Toys R Us stores. Very few Toys R Us are selling the used games at this point. There has been confirmation of one store in Atlanta that is selling used games.
