We're in sort of a strange position when it comes to year-end statistics, since there's a gap after cvga's last quarterly summary, which ends at Week 13. Then there's a gap from Week 14-23, followed by Week 24 where cvga stopped posting and I've started tabulating the stats. Anyway, we'll have to figure out what to do about "all-time" statistics later, as well as stats for the full year of 2010.

22. Game Boy (875)

23. VIC-20 (825)

24. Atari Lynx (763)

25. Odyssey^2 (707)

26. PC (DOS) (699)

27. Game Boy Color (686)

28. Game Gear (617)

29. Neo Geo Pocket Color (515)

30. Tomy Tutor (451)

31. Philips CD-i (430)

32. Sega 32X (422)

33. 3DO (332)

34. CoCo 1 & 2 (322)

35. SG-1000 (310)

36. Game Boy Advance (309)

37. Vectrex (216)

38. Aquarius (212)

39. Microvision (133)

40. Emerson Arcadia 2001 (95)

41. Adventurevision (53)

42. Sears Video Pinball System (45)

43. Handheld/Tabletop (40)

44. Game.com (30)

45. SuperGrafx (18)

45. MSX (18)

47. MSX2 (11)

48. Famicom Disk System (10)

49. CoCo 3 (5)

For all the worries about classic systems getting overwhelmed by 1990s RPGs, the Atari 2600 held firmly on to the top spot, and pre-NES systems make up more than half of the top 10.

I think that's it! We're still missing stats for 2009, so we don't have any updates to the "all-time" numbers, but pinball22 has kindly agreed to handle the 2009 numbers. Once he's done with those, we can update the 1000, 5000, and 10000 minute clubs. (At this rate it won't be that long before Kaboom makes the 100000 minute club!)

A few funny things to note:

- Two different ports of the same game (Burgertime) tied for 21st place.

- Dr. Hello just edged out a "doctored Halo", as it were...

- Somehow it amuses me that the CD-i, Sega 32X, and 3DO all ended up next to each other...and were all beaten out by the Tomy Tutor!

Just double-checking a couple odd stats, and found I'd made an error for the Top 10 for Week 43 (Oct. 25 - Oct. 31).

Top 10:

1. Kaboom (Atari 2600) - 467

2. River Raid (Atari 5200) - 180

2. Worms (Atari Jaguar) - 180

4. Earnest Evans (Sega CD) - 136

5. Earnest Evans (Genesis) - 65

6. Ruiner Pinball (Atari Jaguar) - 60

6. Digital Pinball (Sega Saturn) - 60

6. Highway 2000 (Sega Saturn) - 60

6. Pro Pinball: The Web (Sega Saturn) - 60

6. Virtua Racing (Sega Saturn) - 60

I also found a small error in Week 46 (Nov. 15 - Nov. 21):

Top 10:

1. Kaboom (Atari 2600) - 409

2. Landstalker (Genesis) - 305

3. Ultraverse Prime (Sega CD) - 205

4. Sunset Riders (Genesis) - 115

5. Altered Beast (Genesis) - 111

6. ESWAT (Genesis) - 105

7. Secret of Evermore (SNES) - 90

8. Jennifer Capriati Tennis (Genesis) - 40

8. Racing Aces (Sega CD) - 40

10. Centipede (Atari 8-bit) - 30

10. Action Fighter (Sega Master System) - 30

Fortunately both of these errors were at my own expense!

Another error is that Pokemon Red is an original Game Boy game, not Game Boy Color. The retail box defines this:

Pokemon_red_box-1.jpg

See, Pokemon Gold is a real Game Boy Color game and is labeled as such:

Gold%20Box.PNG

So this throws the Game Boy Color minutes off a bit, decreasing them.

Indeed, you're entirely correct (I hadn't seen your post when I asked my question in the 2011 thread, believe it or not!). So entry #45 on the overall charts should read:

45. Pokemon Red Version (Game Boy) - 480

Oddly, those 480 minutes only move the Game Boy up one spot on the system charts, edging out the Neo Geo for #21. However it drops the Game Boy Color from #27 to #38, and everything between moves up a spot.

In addition, my above errors omitted 60 minutes for the SG-1000 (which affects the standings a bit), and 40 for the Sega CD (which doesn't). Thus, the revised system totals:

1. Atari 2600 (31995)

2. NES/Famicom (22104)

3. Genesis (16734)

4. Arcade (12337)

5. Sega Master System (9258)

6. Intellivision (7180)

7. Atari 8-bit (4304)

8. ColecoVision (4003)

9. TI-99 (3990)

10. N64 (3922)

11. Turbografx-16 (3485)

12. Atari Jaguar (3476)

13. SNES (3239)

14. Atari 5200 (3149)

15. C64 (2945)

16. Sega Saturn (2919)

17. Dreamcast (2549)

18. Atari 7800 (2381)

19. Sega CD (1712)

20. PlayStation (1559)

21. Game Boy (1355)

22. Neo Geo AES (1144)

23. VIC-20 (825)

Due the list of most played systems for week #1, 2010 seems to be missing and that was a week with a lot of play time for the Philips CD-i, I have attempted to put together that list, more than five years later. My numbers seem to a have a slight mismatch compared to cvga's stats, at least when it comes to Kaboom! (how curious!), but even an extra 124 minutes of Atari 2600 doesn't change the relative standings.

1. Atari 2600: 814 - 938
2. Master System: 765
3. Arcade: 763
4. NES/Famicom: 604
5. TI-99/4A: 549
6. Atari 5200: 397
7. Philips CD-i: 340
8. Intellivision: 210
9. Atari Jaguar: 165
10. Genesis: 135
11. Turbo Grafx: 133
12. SNES: 115
13. Atari 8-bit: 90
14. Nintendo 64: 60
15. Atari 7800: 52
16. Colecovision: 35
17. PlayStation: 30
18. Gameboy Color: 15
19. C64: 10
19. Vectrex: 10
As you can see, I've included 32+ bit based systems such as PlayStation, Jaguar and Nintendo 64, which may not have been eligible in the tracker by 2010, but is today. The important point though is that despite 340 mins of CD-I that week, it didn't reach higher than 7th position on the system stats.
