The Codex
They said it couldn't be done, and by god they were right. But here it is anyway - TI Farm as a 30-line XB game. ** EDIT: The version below is obsolete, please download the version attached later in this thread. ** TIFARMER.zip Fully playable, though I'm likely going to modify it a bit more (I still have 2 code lines and 2 DATA statements to burn, yeaaah boy). Rake in the money while managing your fields, weather adversity and find good fortune as well. Play from the year 1900 all the way up to 2000, with game pacing that enables you to actually feel the seasons changing while you wait. Feel free to look through the source code, though it's as dense as neutron star matter at this point. I probably won't be able to decipher it myself when I wake up tomorrow. Oh, and try not to let the zombies eat L'il Rex. Edited March 12, 2010 by The Codex
sometimes99er
Hehe, that’s a nice one ! I like line 600. Line 650 has one IF and two ELSE. Guess you could save 2 or 3 bytes there !?
Opry99er
This is a marvellous entry. I think the farmer's name is quite appropriate. And as this is the second entry that uses the undead as a point of contention, I'd say our contest is developing somewhat of a theme!!! As a matter of fact, I imagine that if you combined ZomBXB and TIFarmer into one big 60 line game, you could farm, and when zombies approach, you could actually fight them. . Hehehe.... I should make up a little "ZomBXBFarmer" montage for YouTube. . These are fun times---fun times indeed.
The Codex
Thanks gents! I want to squeeze a little more in there, we'll see if I can still read the code today. I like line 600. Line 650 has one IF and two ELSE. Guess you could save 2 or 3 bytes there !? Oo, good catch! I'll shave that one out of there. I think I was getting pretty groggy by the end of this program. That's actually what I had in mind when I saw the TI Farm thread, hehe... a strategy game combined with arcade-action fighting off the zombies. So I did my half of it for this. TI Farm is pretty impressive, nice work!
The Codex
Thanks Tursi! Now we've just have to figure out how to get our games to call each other and then burn that sucker to cart! $$$$$
Opry99er
I just sat and tried to link these two games up. Essentially, in the random event wherein a zombie eats your farmhand, I was going to jump to Tursi's game. Here's what I did Codex's game RES 100,10 On Zombie Attack, GOSUB 3000 Tursi's game RES 3000,10 **instead of "END" add final zombie killing point tally to TIFarmer Then "RETURN" I didn't get very far... I can't decipher Codex's zombie check... His code is denser than the blackest of black holes. =) Owen
The Codex
Updated version of TI Farmer here. Fixes the number of farmhands to the correct total (5 including Farmer McOwen), and random events now cover random square areas instead of scattershot pieces, with more farmhands increasing the area of good effects and reducing the area of bad effects. Opry99er
Codex, any chance of seeing a "TI-Weed Farmer?" There was a big bust about 10 miles from my house, and it occurred to me that it would be a hilarious game. Instead of Zombies, you've got DEA agents, pesky stoner kids, whatever else. Just thought I'd throw that your way. Edited April 5, 2010 by Opry99er

Opry99er
I will be doing YouTube videos of my favorite elements of each game as a homage to the great programmers who have entered their games here. A collage of SSGC glory! . Even though TI Chronic is not an "official" entry, I'll throw it in there as well.

Tursi
Heh... so now that the contest is done, Codex, do you mind if I take TI Farmer and mash it up with ZomBXB? I'd like to do an asm version that gets the speed I wanted to see on the Zombie side, and at the same time we'll grant Owen's wish of seeing them together.
