Thank you for this! Great Post! I downloaded the entire AtariArchives.org page

Have you made a torrent for that? I considered firing up wget and grabbing the whole thing for perusal on the go, but I don't want to be a leech. Torrents don't cost anyone anything except our ISPs and we've already paid them, so it's always better to have a torrent whenever possible.

Wow, thanks, this is the result of A LOT of hard work! Very Awesome!

I picked up a whole box of pre-punched 3-Ring Binder paper at Staples, should come in handy for this, for sure.

Thanks! I got the whole thing rather quickly (often at over 250Kb/s). The cover of that Forth book is borderline pornographic! :o

Yeah, definitely nip and I'm not even going to mention the other stuff as I'm still a bit traumatized.

It's the kind of thing you might see the weird guy in the back of the class drawing on his folder in high school.

"This book is an independent production of Ing. W. HOFACKER GMBH International."

I think the A in his last name was originally a U. :D

Downloaded and seeding nightly.

Hello Sloopy,

If you could PM thumpnugget and I, we'll talk about what you have to offer.

i have several issues of BYTE from '85-'92 era (probly like ~30) if you want them for scanning, let me know... also i have some other various computing magazines for that era too if you want them but they are mostly 1/2/3 issues at most... (things like unix review, MIPS, etc...)

Thanks so much, ThumpNugget!

As an aside, for those interested in setting up a dedicated Torrent machine using Ubuntu Linux, I used the setup guide here:

http://jonpeck.blogspot.com/2006/11/how-to-configure-80-fileserver-in-45.html

...with the exception that I used the current version of Ubuntu, rather than the older version cited when the article was written. I've had my server running for several years now on a scavenged Pentium III, and it sure beats having to leave my main computer tied up downloading a large torrent. I also use it like the article's author to stream media to an xbox and TV. Setting it up is also a great way to learn some Linux.

Hey Thump. Any artwork to create a case insert and CD label??? LOL

Hey there. There is artwork in the same format as was done for the STart PDF disks (half thick DVD cover, double sided cover). Fairly simple stuff.. The front cover is based on the computes first book (just a title change and I splattered the Atari Symbol to give it a nicer feel), the back cover has the usual text explanation of what the DVD contains with the professor from the Tricky Tutorials reading a "Mapping the Atari" PDF on an Atari 800 and 810 disk drive. The inside cover is just a lightened collage of all the book covers and then the disk is similar to the main cover only using computes second book colors instead of the first compute book colors...

Hi there

This is how the STart PDF disks looked:

First, thanks once again for putting al these books together and scanned them. I see some titles that should have been in your collection:

De Re Atari

Master Memory Map

Kids & the Atari

De Re is still for sale at some Atari online retailers...Is there any reason in particular for those titles not being available?

Thanks again for the hard work, I'll put an order for the DVD soon...

Regards

I have De Re Atari scanned, just forgot to put it in the torrent... I have a "Kids & the Atari" on the way so that should be scanned soon. Unfortunately I don't have the "Master Memory map" - you guys keep outbidding me in the auctions! :) I do have several other books (ABCs of Atari, Tricky Tutorials 7, etc) that I found when I was hunting my bottom shelf for a DVD case to send out a burned copy a few days ago. I plan on putting these on my site and putting a link to them to directly download from this thread..

I'll also be bugging Allan today to see what goodies he has :)

The mapping the Atari Revised Edition is in the torrent..

If you live near Boise and looked north towards the mountains at Bogus Basin this last weekend you may have seen a small cloud of smoke rising towards the sky. That smoke was the created from a bonfire made entirely of Atari 8-bit books. 13,730 pages of them to be exact... Sacrilege I know! Please know that a proper eulogy was performed and that they did not die in vane. Their essence has been captured for everyone of us to enjoy. To celebrate their life and give homage for their sacrifice all you have to do is download this torrent and they will be with us forever.

Note: This torrent is about 3.36 gigs and as it is streaming from my home line(about 100K out at best) it will be somewhat slow until some people finish and help seed. There is nothing I can do about this. Also I have some cool robots that require upload bandwidth that I want to play with on Saturday so I would really like some other seeders by then so I can drop off for a bit :)

Thanks for yet another great collection of Atari magazines/books.

Welcome back to civilization UnixC. hows the 'love in' with the amiga going

"Love In"... lol. Crazy hippie.

= )

I never went anywhere, although I haven't been posting much.

By far, the  Natami  is the most interesting thing going on in the Amiga-world, today.

It is truly "An Adventure, in Time & Space; Told In Future-Tense"... ha... to quote Dimension X.
