farquh
Okay, a while back I started a thread that innocently asked weather paddles were optional on a particular game. That thread got WAAAY off topic and WAAAY out of hand real fast. Someone suggested that I should for sure get myself a set of paddles because I'd be missing out if I did not. Well, I finally got a set, and the Jedi Arena game, and it was worth the wait. I'm very happy with both purchases. I now own Jedi Arena, Decathlon, Kaboom, Astroblast and GI Joe to use with the paddles. So far, my favorite paddles game is GI Joe, probably because it allows for three people simultaneous play. This seems to be rare for the 2600, no? What other paddle games should I look into getting? What is your favorite 2600 paddle game?
fiddlepaddle
You may also want Tac Scan, Super Breakout (and Breakout), Video Olympics (ie., Pong).
Omegamatrix
Medieval Mayhem, Astroblast, Circus Atari, and Kaboom! are my favorite paddle games.
DickNixonArisen
medieval mayhem is a newer, better, shinier version of warlords - definitely worth your money, but the original isn't bad either. Four player paddle game. I second kaboom and tacscan (a shooter controlled by the paddle? brilliant!). Now am I wrong, or did someone tell me you could optionally use the paddle with astroblast? That sounds like a decent deal to me. and indy 500 is a lot of fun, but that's technically a different controller.
Atari2600Lives
Well my vote goes to Kaboom Not only (in my opinion) the best Atari paddle game but also one of the top games of all time period (any system). Plays much better with paddles IMO.
Scrabbler15
I have to go with Kaboom, too. Simple and crazy fun.

TwinChargers
Gonna say its a toss up between Warlords or Super Breakout.

jetset
Kaboom and Circus Atari. Early videogame violence. Nothing better.
Miss 2600
I now own Jedi Arena, Decathlon, Kaboom, Astroblast and GI Joe to use with the paddles. Decathlon? Of the paddle games I have, I like: 1. Casino 2. Circus Atari 3. Night Driver, although it is almost impossible for me at more difficult levels. There's some turns I just can't figure out. farquh
I tried Warlords before I actually owned paddles and really didn't like it. I'm surprised it's getting such good results! I would like to get a Super Breakout. On the NES I have Arkanoid with the Vaus controller, and I think that it is the best controlled game the NES ever made. Are there both Breakout and Super Breakout for the 2600? There's a copy of Night Driver going for $2 at a store that I frequent, so being a paddle owner I'll pick it up too. +SpiceWare
I tried Warlords before I actually owned paddles and really didn't like it. I'm surprised it's getting such good results! Did you play it with other people? Warlords really shines with 4 players, not so much when playing solo. My remake of Warlords, Medieval Mayhem, is quite a bit better at solo play; but like Warlords, it's most fun when played with others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR_B857oJo4
Ranthulfr
I suppose my favorite paddle game is Kaboom. I've never been a huge Warlords fanatic, although it's alright. Could be that it's at its best with four human players. I seem to recall playing against the computer, mostly. This brings up an interesting point: I really haven't tried any new paddle games recently. I need to make sure I have a healthy set of paddles and go on a paddle game spree, like farquh. The later releases are the ones I'd be most interested in.

That Atari Age logo clip at the end of the video is awesome. Did you make that? Medieval Mayhem is definitely my favorite paddle-based game. For my second favorite I have to go back to the original paddle-sports games in Video Olympics. I wish someone would do a hack/remake that adds solo-play for all of the variations. +SpiceWare
Gotta love that stereo sound... Stereo worked well for this game, though I don't know how many people get to experience it since it requires mod'ing the Atari. Hopefully the tournament at CGE will be set up for stereo. That Atari Age logo clip at the end of the video is awesome. Did you make that? No, that's the video from the AA store. Nathan Strum made the video, though I don't know if he did the AA logo. Medieval Mayhem is definitely my favorite paddle-based game. Thanks! Have you submitted a review to the store?
DickNixonArisen
I tried Warlords before I actually owned paddles and really didn't like it. I'm surprised it's getting such good results! On the NES I have Arkanoid with the Vaus controller, and I think that it is the best controlled game the NES ever made. Lucky you! I found my vaus for 2$ at a flea market and my friends are all so jealous. It does work great, but it's a third-party, so... not really fair to compare. If you just like paddle control, try the sticks from the gemini (an atari 2600 clone made by coleco). They come with the gemini and also sold separately (with a different name and label, but otherwise identical). Plus of course try the driving controller (like paddle but spins freely) with the aforementioned indy 500.
DickNixonArisen
PS - Isn't that dragon pretty much the best animation in any atari game ever?
