Intellivision Info/Resources/FAQ

Recommended Posts

Even though i didn't get much feedback on this (just Rev  ) the first time i posted it. I'm making it official now. The official Intellivision Info/Resources/FAQ

Not sure if this could be sticky'd or if it deserves to be?

So if you find some intellivision info or website of interest please post it here and maybe we can get everything under 1 roof. I know i probably haven't covered everything so feel free to add what i may have forgot before they are lost and forgotten. So feel free to post links/info/additions or corrections to stuff i posted.

But try and not flood this with topics that don't belong.

Here is a start to all the scattered information i have found through my travels.

List of Important Intellivision Websites

I think this is the main site for most info

http://www.intvfunhouse.com/

The official Intellivision Website. Used to be more navigable, and game list is down, but the time line is cool

http://www.intellivisiongames.com/

A ton of Info and Homebrews/Reproduction Boxes/Forums/Wikki/ on it's way to taking over the top spot

http://www.intellivision.us/

http://wiki.intellivision.us/index.php?title=Main_Page

My favorite site for downloading manuals

http://kentrepairs.com/General/Intellivision.asp

Maybe the best site for manuals/overlays/game list. But maybe not the easiest to navigate.

http://intv.mphokie.com/masterList.php

Service Manuals for Model 1,2,and Intellivoice/Mods/Schematics

Just a link to someones collection, but he has pics of some of the rarest Intellivision stuff

An Intellivision Forum overrun by spam. Wasn't sure if i should mention it or not

http://www.intellivisionworld.com/IHQ/forum_topics.asp?FID=13&SID=9375c375ccz9c9f92cfdadabz8bbb93d

A forum not overrun by spam and needs more members immediately.

Another good site, but it may be abandoned? It has possibly my favorite game list

A couple of topics about making overlays

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=50583.0

Another addition to making overlays

Actually, you can make your own. Just download some scans from one of the many sites (Intellivision Funhouse for example), reverse them, print (or have them printed) on thick transparencies, and the spray pain the back white. YOu reverse them so that you see the ink from the far side, so it will not wear off with use.

Works great. You can do Vectrex overlays the same way.

And a cool site with pics of every overlay and screen shots

Possible Alternatives to the Intellivision II Power Supply

The standard Atari 8bit power supply works for me. The ones that are used with a 400,800, 1200xl, 1050, xf551 should work. The tip is the same size too.

This is from the faq

9 V AC 15.3 VA (1.7 A) Atari#CO14319

400,800,822,850,1010,1200XL

9 V AC 18 VA (2.0 A) Atari#CA014748/CA016804

400,800,822,850,1010,1200XL,810

9 V AC 31 VA (3.4 A) Atari#CO17945

400,800,822,850,1010,1200XL,810,1020,1050,XF551

9 V AC 50 VA (5.6 A) Atari#CA017964

400,800,822,850,1010,1200XL,810,1020,1050,XF551

An Atari 5200 power supply works as well.

Some people say a Jaguar Power Supply will work, while someone else said the tip is not the same size. Also read that possibly a TG-16 Supply may work.

Possible Alternatives to the Intellivision II Power Supply

The NES power supply does work with it. Just tested it.

You can also use an Odyssey2 power cord or one from a rechargeable drill.

I'm glad somebody brought this up, because I haven't seen this information documented anywhere else.

Here is a picture of my ECS power supply and connector:

post-3819-126710255762_thumb.jpgpost-3819-126710524938_thumb.jpg

I'm getting 10VAC output on the barrel (tip negative), but since it's AC output, the polarity shouldn't matter.

The connector is a standard coaxial power connector; I believe the dimensions are 5.0mm x 2.0mm (5mm outer diameter, 2mm inner diameter). The inner diameter is a guess on my part: I compared it to the connector for the Atari 800 power supply (CO17945), which uses a 5.0mm x 2.1mm connector, and while the ECS connector is the same outer diameter, the inner diameter is a bit smaller. The ECS connector won't fit into the 800, but the CO17945 connector will fit into an ECS, although it's a little loose. I've heard that some people have successfully used the CO17945 as a power supply for the ECS, in fact, although I've never tried this myself.

I used a 9VAC power supply from and ADAM 5.25" disk drive a few times before I found and ECS power supply on ebay.

Thanks,

It was here. But even more unorganized and not as much info. It was only a work in progress. Testing the waters.

I'm in the process of expanding a new website - Papa Intellivision. I've scanned and posted the bulk of the documents included in Dave Chandler's estate. I've still got a bunch of photos to take and post. Stay tuned over the coming weeks (and perhaps months).

Wow! Thanks for preserving all of this. I didn't have time to look at all of it, but the info on the Intellivision 3 and 4, while Sanskrit to me, was really cool nonetheless. Maybe Jay could correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those all the specs for building out those two units? In the hands of someone like Curt, in theory could "new" Intellivisions be built....? :) I look forward to seeing what else you have to share with the very appreciative Intellivision community.

The official Intellivision Lives site is back up and running. But for some dumb reason you still can't access it unless you use a back door link. All the old info is back. Games list, History, etc. A plethora on Intellivision Knowledge. Just don't click the Home button at the top or it will take you to the non functioning part of the site.

One more edit. It seems since last night when i posted the back way into IntellivisionLives it mysteriously went down. Looks like someone didn't renew the domain yet.

But luckily it's saved in the Wayback Machine.

I just noticed i made a typo in the FAQ above. There are 2 different lines that reads, "Possible Alternatives to the Intellivision II Power Supply", but the the second time it was supposed to say Possible Alternatives to the ECS Power Supply. And i have no way of editing it.

I'll fix it here.

List of Important Intellivision Websites

Is there a site that has an easily searchable rarity guide, like AtariAge has?

I'm new to Intellivision, and don't want to get fleeced.
