madhatter667
"See, that's what I love about retrogaming. The rest can spend their $50-60 on the latest games. I'd rather spend $10 and get 5-10 great games that are just as much fun now as they were years ago. " I'll echo these sentiments!

BydoEmpire
Local video store is going out of business and selling all "older" games for $5. I picked up a couple Genny games: General Chaos (no manual) Power Monger Road Rash 2 (no manual) I'm going to head back there and pick up a couple NES games (Megaman 4 & 5 in particular - both easily worth $5). See, that's what I love about retrogaming. The rest can spend their $50-60 on the latest games. I'd rather spend $10 and get 5-10 great games that are just as much fun now as they were years ago"Amen to that, agreed 100%. I also love being able to cheaply play games I wanted back in the day but never got. How can it be I never played a Road Rash game before? thegamezmaster
Don't know if this qualifies but found a nes toploader with controller, rf switch and one controller for $20 at a local pawn shop. Now if I can just find those two dogbone controllers somewhere in a box.

Jess Ragan
How's this? I found a ColecoVision with the Atari 2600 adapter and a copy of Space Fury for $1.99 at Goodwill. I've been squeezed for cash lately and I wasn't sure if the ColecoVision would actually work, but with a price like that I couldn't resist! You can't eat at McDonald's for that price anymore! Wickeycolumbus
Got a working Atari 5200 (4 port) and two controllers, both did not work, but I fixed one, and pac-man for $29. This guy was selling nes systems alone for $75 and game boy colors for $35. He also wanted $15 for one 2600 joystick contorller. The 5200 was the best deal there. SRGilbert
Probably spent about $20 in gas, but hit a lot of yard sales Saturday and found a few things. Toys R Us exclusive Pikachu N64 console with one matching controller and all hookups Hey You Pikachu (no mic though. ) Gex 64 Shadowgate 64 All for $5 They had a sale the day before and the lady informed me that they sold off their "Atari" stuff and PS1 stuff. NES Toploader with 1 dogbone controller and 2 original NES controllers and all hookups 2 copies of SMB/Duckhunt Tetris Yoshi Tengen Ms Pac-man All for $20 Star Trek 25th Anniversary PC game CIB PC game. Pretty useless, old DOS game on floppies from 1991, but I liked the box art and it was only a buck. Epyx 500XJ 2600 controller for $.50 and a weird Epyx 500XJ controller that I can't figure out what it's for. I'll post a pic in the Classic games forum. Also $.
phaxda
I did not have much luck at the thrifts or the many garage sales I hit this weekend, but I did trade some beer for an Atari lot last night. Bruce Tomlin
Last week I interviewed for a job on the opposite side of town, and on the way back I went by the Savers thrift. I saw Dinoland for Genesis under the glass and it was complete. I instinctively knew it was rare because I hadn't heard of it before (turns out it was R6!) so I didn't mind that it was priced at $6. Then I asked to look at some of the other games, and as I was deciding to plunk down another six bucks for Virtual Pinball complete, the guy told me that blue tag stuff was 99 cents. Not half price, 99 cents, so I asked him again to be sure. So I also got NBA Jam TE complete and Agassi Tennis with box, as well as Virtual Pinball for a buck each. As it turned out, VP was R4 and I didn't have it, and NBA Jam TE was a R1, and I didn't have that either. So I managed to keep to my "one dollar per rarity" policy after all. And I got the job, and I start this week (though I still need to take the SUV in to get the engine light checked now that I actually have a working engine after over five months in the shop) and while it will cut down on my thrifting time, it will also bring me by two good thrift stores on the way home that I wouldn't ordinarly have gone to because of distance. (As for the price of gas, I'll be getting paid quite well to work all the way across Austin five days of the week, even if it only lasts for a few months.) plaidbrad3141
Nice pick up on the Virtual Pinball. I just got that one recently too. It's addictive and creepy with a bone and blood theme on many of the tables. Strange but cool.
SRGilbert
I forgot, I also picked up a really nice HP iPAQ PocketPC pda for $10, including the charger, cradle and a case. It's just like brand new. I've been looking for a nice small pda to keep my games list on when I'm out thrifting. I already have an original Dell Axim, but that thing is huge compared to this. Ghost Soldier
dang!!! ghost you are the man homie especially getting those cib nes games followed by aes games where these from the same pawn shop? The NES CIB games came from a pawn shop. There very minty and still have the shrinkwrap and original retail sticker on them. I picked up the AES games over at neo-geo.com. They arrived at my home this weekend. All told I put over 120 miles on my vehicle and visited numerous yardsales, pawn shops, flea markets, and thrifts. I started out at 8:00 am and made it home at 10:30 pm. The wife and I had a really good weekend together away from the kids.
