I recently came across some sealed Simpsons "Intelli-Tronic" playsets and figures, so another hobby begins.

Legos. I'm not hardcore about it though. I just buy sets when I like them.

 

I did buy the $400 Lego Death Star though. It is a thing of beauty.

 

I have been buying up the latest wave of firefighter legos. Not even really sure why. I don't have a burning passion for firefighters. I guess the sets just looked interesting to me.

At one point I tried to acquire any translucent turquoise furnishings I could. Chairs, staplers even tissue boxes were all fair game. Then I figured out most plastics are cancerous and aluminum contributes to Alzheimer's.

 

Now I find things that are either made of wood or stainless steel.

I don't know if it was really intentional at first, but in the past year I've been accumulating a pretty good collection of LaserDiscs, so I suppose I collect those as well.

Funny how the poll shows more collecting of DVDs and cds than VHS and 8-Track. What about cars? I collect old 70's Lincolns. 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V and 1976 Lincoln Continental Mark IV. And old TVs.

I can't imagine getting tattooed over my spine. It just seems like that would hurt a lot.

Movies. But I sell them for a living...I'd not have the collection I do if not for that.

 

I guess you could say i collect legos...but mine are "players copies" in videogame parlance. That is...sets last for maybe a week until my son and I disassemble them to use the bricks. Lone exception is the Millenium Falcon. Which he'd gladly LOVE to disassemble.

I wish we had room, I know my wife would love to collect the Fisher-Price stuff. We both had a ton of it when we were kids.

 

On the magazines, I was that way with guitar mags. Eventually I stopped buying them, and gave a huge stack of them to the local guitar shop for fun. This was in a small college town when my wife got her masters. This summer, 13 years later, I found a stack of old guitar mags at an antique store about three blocks from that very same (and now gone) guitar shop. I couldn't prove it, but I was 99% certain they were my old mags!

I guess I should have specified... these aren't the classic toys, but the newer Little People sets that were released over the last decade. I bought a few sets for my daughter and she got more use out of those toys than anything else. So I bought a few more and picked up some extra people online and if I buy any more, I may end up having to move into one of the Little People houses!
