Richard Scarry's B.E.W.E.

(1984) Coleco Electronics

2-Disk Version & Modded 5 1/4" 320K or 3 1/2" 720K Version

The latest and last Coleco title to be covered in this series (will be returning to 3rd Party/Homebrew software) is none other than the graphically appealling Richard Scarry's educational program that was officially released by Coleco in 1984 on Digital Data Pack only. While this program is geared for young children, I still find myself loading it up every now and then to travel around all the different scenes in the game and enjoy the graphics.

The main reason for this title being covered here is to share two different disk versions that most of you probably don't have. The first is the official Coleco unreleased 2 Disk version (5 1/4" 160K) which was acquired by a NIAD member in 1992 from an ex-Coleco employee. Where the Data Pack contains all six scenes, the 2-Disk version contains three scenes on each disk with an altered menu/map screen and more detailed skill level selection screen.

The second version I am including is a modded/hacked version that was done by Ron Collins in the early '90s. This version IS the full Data Pack version that has been modded to work from a 5 1/4" 320K or 360K Disk Drive or a 3 1/2" 720K Disk Drive... don't see too many of these drive conversions out in the wild, but this version will work in ADAMem without a hitch.

Enjoy all the pics... the last three are from the 2-Disk unreleased version.
