Our postal person likes to take my packages to my grandmother's house up the street if I'm not home and she'll hold on to my stuff for days before remembering to tell me if I don't know to check. On the bright side at least our local usps person is thoughtful enough not to leave stuff on my porch for the neighborhood dogs to attack.
